א1 תְּפִלָּה לְעָנִי כִֽי־יַעֲטֹף וְלִפְנֵי יְיָ יִשְׁפֹּךְ שִׂיחֽוֹ׃ tefilah leani khi-yaatof velifnei Adonai yishpokhe sichoA Prayer of the afflicted, when he fainteth, and poureth out his complaint before HaShem. ב2 יְיָ שִׁמְעָה תְפִלָּתִי וְשַׁוְעָתִי אֵלֶיךָ תָבֽוֹא׃ Adonai shimah tefilati veshavati eleikha tavoO HaShem, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto Thee. ג3 אַל־תַּסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ ׀ מִמֶּנִּי בְּיוֹם צַר לִי הַטֵּֽה־אֵלַי אָזְנֶךָ בְּיוֹם אֶקְרָא מַהֵר עֲנֵֽנִי׃ al-taseter paneikha ׀ mimeni beyom tzar li hateh-elay aznekha beyom ekra maher aneniHide not Thy face from me in the day of my distress; incline Thine ear unto me; in the day when I call answer me speedily. ד4 כִּֽי־כָלוּ בְעָשָׁן יָמָי וְעַצְמוֹתַי כְּמוֹ־קֵד נִחָֽרוּ׃ ki-khalu veashan yamay veatzmotay kemo-ked nicharuFor my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a hearth. ה5 הוּכָּֽה־כָעֵשֶׂב וַיִּבַשׁ לִבִּי כִּֽי־שָׁכַחְתִּי מֵאֲכֹל לַחְמִֽי׃ hukah-khaesev vayivash libi ki-shakhachti meakhol lachmiMy heart is smitten like grass, and withered; for I forget to eat my bread. ו6 מִקּוֹל אַנְחָתִי דָּבְקָה עַצְמִי לִבְשָׂרִֽי׃ mikol anchati davekah atzmi livsariBy reason of the voice of my sighing my bones cleave to my flesh. ז7 דָּמִיתִי לִקְאַת מִדְבָּר הָיִיתִי כְּכוֹס חֳרָבֽוֹת׃ damiti likat midbar hayiti kekhos choravotI am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places. ח8 שָׁקַדְתִּי וָאֶֽהְיֶה כְּצִפּוֹר בּוֹדֵד עַל־גָּֽג׃ shakadti vaehyeh ketzipor boded al-gagI watch, and am become like a sparrow that is alone upon the housetop. ט9 כָּל־הַיּוֹם חֵרְפוּנִי אוֹיְבָי מְהוֹלָלַי בִּי נִשְׁבָּֽעוּ׃ kal-hayom cherfuni oyvay meholalay bi nishbauMine enemies taunt me all the day; they that are mad against me do curse by me. י10 כִּי־אֵפֶר כַּלֶּחֶם אָכָלְתִּי וְשִׁקֻּוַי בִּבְכִי מָסָֽכְתִּי׃ ki-efer kalechem akhalti veshikuvay bivekhi masakhtiFor I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping, יא11 מִפְּנֵֽי־זַֽעַמְךָ וְקִצְפֶּךָ כִּי נְשָׂאתַנִי וַתַּשְׁלִיכֵֽנִי׃ mipnei-zaamkha vekitzpekha ki nesatani vatashelikheniBecause of Thine indignation and Thy wrath; for Thou hast taken me up, and cast me away. יב12 יָמַי כְּצֵל נָטוּי וַאֲנִי כָּעֵשֶׂב אִיבָֽשׁ׃ yamay ketzel natuy vaani kaesev ivashMy days are like a lengthening shadow; and I am withered like grass. יג13 וְאַתָּה יְיָ לְעוֹלָם תֵּשֵׁב וְזִכְרְךָ לְדֹר וָדֹֽר׃ veatah Adonai leolam teshev vezikhrkha ledor vadorBut Thou, O HaShem, sittest enthroned for ever; and Thy name is unto all generations. יד14 אַתָּה תָקוּם תְּרַחֵם צִיּוֹן כִּי־עֵת לְחֶֽנְנָהּ כִּי־בָא מוֹעֵֽד׃ atah takum terachem tziyon ki-et lechennah ki-va moedThou wilt arise, and have compassion upon Zion; for it is time to be gracious unto her, for the appointed time is come. טו15 כִּֽי־רָצוּ עֲבָדֶיךָ אֶת־אֲבָנֶיהָ וְֽאֶת־עֲפָרָהּ יְחֹנֵֽנוּ׃ ki-ratzu avadeikha et-avaneiha veet-afarah yechonenuFor Thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and love her dust. טז16 וְיִֽירְאוּ גוֹיִם אֶת־שֵׁם יְיָ וְֽכָל־מַלְכֵי הָאָרֶץ אֶת־כְּבוֹדֶֽךָ׃ veyiru goyim et-shem Adonai vekhal-malkhei haaretz et-kevodekhaSo the nations will fear the name of HaShem, and all the kings of the earth Thy glory; יז17 כִּֽי־בָנָה יְיָ צִיּוֹן נִרְאָה בִּכְבוֹדֽוֹ׃ ki-vanah Adonai tziyon nirah bikhevodoWhen HaShem hath built up Zion, when He hath appeared in His glory; יח18 פָּנָה אֶל־תְּפִלַּת הָעַרְעָר וְלֹֽא־בָזָה אֶת־תְּפִלָּתָֽם׃ panah el-tefilat haarar velo-vazah et-tefilatamWhen He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, and hath not despised their prayer. יט19 תִּכָּתֶב זֹאת לְדוֹר אַחֲרוֹן וְעַם נִבְרָא יְהַלֶּל־יָֽהּ׃ tikatev zot ledor acharon veam nivra yehalel-yahThis shall be written for the generation to come; and a people which shall be created shall praise HaShem. כ20 כִּֽי־הִשְׁקִיף מִמְּרוֹם קָדְשׁוֹ יְיָ מִשָּׁמַיִם ׀ אֶל־אֶרֶץ הִבִּֽיט׃ ki-hishkif mimrom kadsho Adonai mishamayim ׀ el-eretz hibitFor He hath looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven did HaShem behold the earth; כא21 לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶנְקַת אָסִיר לְפַתֵּחַ בְּנֵי תְמוּתָֽה׃ lishmoa enkat asir lefatecha benei temutahTo hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; כב22 לְסַפֵּר בְּצִיּוֹן שֵׁם יְיָ וּתְהִלָּתוֹ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ lesaper betziyon shem Adonai uthilato birushalaimThat men may tell of the name of HaShem in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem; כג23 בְּהִקָּבֵץ עַמִּים יַחְדָּו וּמַמְלָכוֹת לַעֲבֹד אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ behikavetz amim yachdav umamlakhot laavod et-AdonaiWhen the peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve HaShem. כד24 עִנָּה בַדֶּרֶךְ כחו קִצַּר יָמָֽי׃ inah vaderekh khchv kitzar yamayHe weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days. כה25 אֹמַר אֵלִי אַֽל־תַּעֲלֵנִי בַּחֲצִי יָמָי בְּדוֹר דּוֹרִים שְׁנוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ omar eli al-taaleni bachatzi yamay bedor dorim shenoteikhaI say: 'O my G-d, take me not away in the midst of my days, Thou whose years endure throughout all generations. כו26 לְפָנִים הָאָרֶץ יָסַדְתָּ וּֽמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֶיךָ שָׁמָֽיִם׃ lefanim haaretz yasadta umaaseh yadeikha shamayimOf old Thou didst lay the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of Thy hands. כז27 הֵמָּה ׀ יֹאבֵדוּ וְאַתָּה תַעֲמֹד וְכֻלָּם כַּבֶּגֶד יִבְלוּ כַּלְּבוּשׁ תַּחֲלִיפֵם וְֽיַחֲלֹֽפוּ׃ hemah ׀ yovedu veatah taamod vekhulam kabeged yivlu kalevush tachalifem veyachalofuThey shall perish, but Thou shalt endure; yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt Thou change them, and they shall pass away; כח28 וְאַתָּה־הוּא וּשְׁנוֹתֶיךָ לֹא יִתָּֽמּוּ׃ veatah-hu ushnoteikha lo yitamuBut Thou art the selfsame, and Thy years shall have no end. כט29 בְּנֵֽי־עֲבָדֶיךָ יִשְׁכּוֹנוּ וְזַרְעָם לְפָנֶיךָ יִכּֽוֹן׃ benei-avadeikha yishkonu vezaram lefaneikha yikonThe children of Thy servants shall dwell securely, and their seed shall be established before Thee.'
