א1 אֵל־נְקָמוֹת יְיָ אֵל נְקָמוֹת הוֹפִֽיַע׃ el-nekamot Adonai el nekamot hofiyaO HaShem, Thou G-d to whom vengeance belongeth, Thou G-d to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth. ב2 הִנָּשֵׂא שֹׁפֵט הָאָרֶץ הָשֵׁב גְּמוּל עַל־גֵּאִֽים׃ hinase shofet haaretz hashev gemul al-geimLift up Thyself, Thou Judge of the earth; render to the proud their recompense. ג3 עַד־מָתַי רְשָׁעִים ׀ יְיָ עַד־מָתַי רְשָׁעִים יַעֲלֹֽזוּ׃ ad-matay reshaim ׀ Adonai ad-matay reshaim yaalozuHaShem, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult? ד4 יַבִּיעוּ יְדַבְּרוּ עָתָק יִֽתְאַמְּרוּ כָּל־פֹּעֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ yabiyu yedabru atak yitamru kal-poalei avenThey gush out, they speak arrogancy; all the workers of iniquity bear themselves loftily. ה5 עַמְּךָ יְיָ יְדַכְּאוּ וְֽנַחֲלָתְךָ יְעַנּֽוּ׃ amkha Adonai yedaku venachalatkha yeanuThey crush Thy people, O HaShem, and afflict Thy heritage. ו6 אַלְמָנָה וְגֵר יַהֲרֹגוּ וִֽיתוֹמִים יְרַצֵּֽחוּ׃ almanah veger yaharogu vitomim yeratzechuThey slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. ז7 וַיֹּאמְרוּ לֹא יִרְאֶה־יָּהּ וְלֹא־יָבִין אֱלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹֽב׃ vayomru lo yireh-yah velo-yavin Elohei yaakovAnd they say: 'The HaShem will not see, neither will the G-d of Jacob give heed.' ח8 בִּינוּ בֹּעֲרִים בָּעָם וּכְסִילִים מָתַי תַּשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃ binu boarim baam ukhsilim matay tasekiluConsider, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye understand? ט9 הֲנֹטַֽע אֹזֶן הֲלֹא יִשְׁמָע אִֽם־יֹצֵֽר עַיִן הֲלֹא יַבִּֽיט׃ hanota ozen halo yishma im-yotzer ayin halo yabitHe that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see? י10 הֲיֹסֵר גּוֹיִם הֲלֹא יוֹכִיחַ הַֽמְלַמֵּד אָדָם דָּֽעַת׃ hayoser goyim halo yokhicha hamlamed adam daatHe that instructeth nations, shall not He correct? even He that teacheth man knowledge? יא11 יְֽהוָה יֹדֵעַ מַחְשְׁבוֹת אָדָם כִּי־הֵמָּה הָֽבֶל׃ Adonai yodea machshvot adam ki-hemah havelHaShem knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. יב12 אַשְׁרֵי ׀ הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר־תְּיַסְּרֶנּוּ יָּהּ וּֽמִתּוֹרָתְךָ תְלַמְּדֶֽנּוּ׃ ashrei ׀ hagever asher-teyasrenu yah umitoratkha telamdenuHappy is the man whom Thou instructest, O HaShem, and teachest out of Thy law; יג13 לְהַשְׁקִיט לוֹ מִימֵי רָע עַד יִכָּרֶה לָרָשָׁע שָֽׁחַת׃ lehashkit lo mimei ra ad yikareh larasha shachatThat Thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked. יד14 כִּי ׀ לֹא־יִטֹּשׁ יְיָ עַמּוֹ וְנַחֲלָתוֹ לֹא יַעֲזֹֽב׃ ki ׀ lo-yitosh Adonai amo venachalato lo yaazovFor HaShem will not cast off His people, neither will He forsake His inheritance. טו15 כִּֽי־עַד־צֶדֶק יָשׁוּב מִשְׁפָּט וְאַחֲרָיו כָּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ ki-ad-tzedek yashuv mishpat veacharayv kal-yishrei-levFor right shall return unto justice, and all the upright in heart shall follow it. טז16 מִֽי־יָקוּם לִי עִם־מְרֵעִים מִֽי־יִתְיַצֵּב לִי עִם־פֹּעֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ mi-yakum li im-mereim mi-yityatzev li im-poalei avenWho will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? יז17 לוּלֵי יְיָ עֶזְרָתָה לִּי כִּמְעַט ׀ שָֽׁכְנָה דוּמָה נַפְשִֽׁי׃ lulei Adonai ezratah li kimeat ׀ shakhnah dumah nafshiUnless HaShem had been my help, my soul had soon dwelt in silence. יח18 אִם־אָמַרְתִּי מָטָה רַגְלִי חַסְדְּךָ יְיָ יִסְעָדֵֽנִי׃ im-amarti matah ragli chasdkha Adonai yisadeniIf I say: 'My foot slippeth', Thy mercy, O HaShem, holdeth me up. יט19 בְּרֹב שַׂרְעַפַּי בְּקִרְבִּי תַּנְחוּמֶיךָ יְֽשַׁעַשְׁעוּ נַפְשִֽׁי׃ berov sarapay bekirbi tanechumeikha yeshaashu nafshiWhen my cares are many within me, Thy comforts delight my soul. כ20 הַֽיְחָבְרְךָ כִּסֵּא הַוּוֹת יֹצֵר עָמָל עֲלֵי־חֹֽק׃ haychavrkha kise hauot yotzer amal alei-chokShall the seat of wickedness have fellowship with Thee, which frameth mischief by statute? כא21 יָגוֹדּוּ עַל־נֶפֶשׁ צַדִּיק וְדָם נָקִי יַרְשִֽׁיעוּ׃ yagodu al-nefesh tzadik vedam naki yarshiyuThey gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood. כב22 וַיְהִי יְיָ לִי לְמִשְׂגָּב וֵאלֹהַי לְצוּר מַחְסִֽי׃ vayhi Adonai li lemisgav velohay letzur machsiBut HaShem hath been my high tower, and my G-d the rock of my refuge. כג23 וַיָּשֶׁב עֲלֵיהֶם ׀ אֶת־אוֹנָם וּבְרָעָתָם יַצְמִיתֵם יַצְמִיתֵם יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ vayashev aleihem ׀ et-onam uvraatam yatzmitem yatzmitem Adonai eloheinuAnd He hath brought upon them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil; HaShem our G-d will cut them off.
