א1 לַמְנַצֵּחַ מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ lamnatzecha mizmor ledavidFor the Leader. A Psalm of David. ב2 אַשְׁרֵי מַשְׂכִּיל אֶל־דָּל בְּיוֹם רָעָה יְֽמַלְּטֵהוּ יְהוָֽה׃ ashrei maskil el-dal beyom raah yemaltehu AdonaiHappy is he that considereth the poor; HaShem will deliver him in the day of evil. ג3 יְיָ ׀ יִשְׁמְרֵהוּ וִֽיחַיֵּהוּ יאשר בָּאָרֶץ וְאַֽל־תִּתְּנֵהוּ בְּנֶפֶשׁ אֹיְבָֽיו׃ Adonai ׀ yishmrehu vichayehu yshr baaretz veal-titenehu benefesh oyvayvHaShem preserve him, and keep him alive, let him be called happy in the land; and deliver not Thou him unto the greed of his enemies. ד4 יְֽהוָה יִסְעָדֶנּוּ עַל־עֶרֶשׂ דְּוָי כָּל־מִשְׁכָּבוֹ הָפַכְתָּ בְחָלְיֽוֹ׃ Adonai yisadenu al-eres devay kal-mishkavo hafakhta vechalyoHaShem support him upon the bed of illness; mayest Thou turn all his lying down in his sickness. ה5 אֲֽנִי־אָמַרְתִּי יְיָ חָנֵּנִי רְפָאָה נַפְשִׁי כִּי־חָטָאתִי לָֽךְ׃ ani-amarti Adonai chaneni refaah nafshi ki-chatati lakhAs for me, I said: 'O HaShem, be gracious unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against Thee.' ו6 אוֹיְבַי יֹאמְרוּ רַע לִי מָתַי יָמוּת וְאָבַד שְׁמֽוֹ׃ oyvay yomru ra li matay yamut veavad shemoMine enemies speak evil of me: 'When shall he die, and his name perish?' ז7 וְאִם־בָּא לִרְאוֹת ׀ שָׁוְא יְדַבֵּר לִבּוֹ יִקְבָּץ־אָוֶן לוֹ יֵצֵא לַחוּץ יְדַבֵּֽר׃ veim-ba lirot ׀ shav yedaber libo yikbatz-aven lo yetze lachutz yedaberAnd if one come to see me, he speaketh falsehood; his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he speaketh of it. ח8 יַחַד עָלַי יִתְלַחֲשׁוּ כָּל־שֹׂנְאָי עָלַי ׀ יַחְשְׁבוּ רָעָה לִֽי׃ yachad alay yitlachashu kal-sonay alay ׀ yachshvu raah liAll that hate me whisper together against me, against me do they devise my hurt: ט9 דְּֽבַר־בְּלִיַּעַל יָצוּק בּוֹ וַאֲשֶׁר שָׁכַב לֹא־יוֹסִיף לָקֽוּם׃ devar-beliyaal yatzuk bo vaasher shakhav lo-yosif lakum'An evil thing cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he lieth, he shall rise up no more.' י10 גַּם־אִישׁ שְׁלוֹמִי ׀ אֲשֶׁר־בָּטַחְתִּי בוֹ אוֹכֵל לַחְמִי הִגְדִּיל עָלַי עָקֵֽב׃ gam-ish shelomi ׀ asher-batachti vo okhel lachmi higdil alay akevYea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. יא11 וְאַתָּה יְיָ חָנֵּנִי וַהֲקִימֵנִי וַֽאֲשַׁלְּמָה לָהֶֽם׃ veatah Adonai chaneni vahakimeni vaashalmah lahemBut Thou, O HaShem, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. יב12 בְּזֹאת יָדַעְתִּי כִּֽי־חָפַצְתָּ בִּי כִּי לֹֽא־יָרִיעַ אֹיְבִי עָלָֽי׃ bezot yadati ki-chafatzta bi ki lo-yariya oyvi alayBy this I know that Thou delightest in me, that mine enemy doth not triumph over me. יג13 וַאֲנִי בְּתֻמִּי תָּמַכְתָּ בִּי וַתַּצִּיבֵנִי לְפָנֶיךָ לְעוֹלָֽם׃ vaani betumi tamakhta bi vatatziveni lefaneikha leolamAnd as for me, Thou upholdest me because of mine integrity, and settest me before Thy face for ever. יד14 בָּרוּךְ יְיָ ׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵֽהָעוֹלָם וְעַד הָעוֹלָם אָמֵן ׀ וְאָמֵֽן׃ barukh Adonai ׀ Elohei yisrael mehaolam vead haolam amen ׀ veamenBlessed be HaShem, the G-d of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. BOOK II
