א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת אֶל־יְיָ בַּצָּרָתָה לִּי קָרָאתִי וַֽיַּעֲנֵֽנִי׃ shir hamaalot el-Adonai batzaratah li karati vayaaneniA Song of Ascents. In my distress I called unto HaShem, and He answered me. ב2 יְֽהוָה הַצִּילָה נַפְשִׁי מִשְּׂפַת־שֶׁקֶר מִלָּשׁוֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃ Adonai hatzilah nafshi misfat-sheker milashon remiyahO HaShem, deliver my soul from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. ג3 מַה־יִּתֵּן לְךָ וּמַה־יֹּסִיף לָךְ לָשׁוֹן רְמִיָּֽה׃ mah-yiten lekha umah-yosif lakh lashon remiyahWhat shall be given unto thee, and what shall be done more unto thee, thou deceitful tongue? ד4 חִצֵּי גִבּוֹר שְׁנוּנִים עִם גַּחֲלֵי רְתָמִֽים׃ chitzei gibor shenunim im gachalei retamimSharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of broom. ה5 אֽוֹיָה־לִי כִּי־גַרְתִּי מֶשֶׁךְ שָׁכַנְתִּי עִֽם־אָהֳלֵי קֵדָֽר׃ oyah-li ki-garti meshekh shakhanti im-aholei kedarWoe is me, that I sojourn with Meshech, that I dwell beside the tents of Kedar! ו6 רַבַּת שָֽׁכְנָה־לָּהּ נַפְשִׁי עִם שׂוֹנֵא שָׁלֽוֹם׃ rabat shakhnah-lah nafshi im sone shalomMy soul hath full long had her dwelling with him that hateth peace. ז7 אֲֽנִי־שָׁלוֹם וְכִי אֲדַבֵּר הֵמָּה לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ ani-shalom vekhi adaber hemah lamilechamahI am all peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
פרק קכ״אPsalm 121
א1 שִׁיר לַֽמַּעֲלוֹת אֶשָּׂא עֵינַי אֶל־הֶהָרִים מֵאַיִן יָבֹא עֶזְרִֽי׃ shir lamaalot esa einay el-heharim meayin yavo ezriA Song of Ascents. I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains: from whence shall my help come? ב2 עֶזְרִי מֵעִם יְיָ עֹשֵׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃ ezri meim Adonai oseh shamayim vaaretzMy help cometh from HaShem, who made heaven and earth. ג3 אַל־יִתֵּן לַמּוֹט רַגְלֶךָ אַל־יָנוּם שֹֽׁמְרֶֽךָ׃ al-yiten lamot raglekha al-yanum shomrekhaHe will not suffer thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber. ד4 הִנֵּה לֹֽא־יָנוּם וְלֹא יִישָׁן שׁוֹמֵר יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ hineh lo-yanum velo yishan shomer yisraelBehold, He that keepeth Israel doth neither slumber nor sleep. ה5 יְיָ שֹׁמְרֶךָ יְיָ צִלְּךָ עַל־יַד יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ Adonai shomrekha Adonai tzilkha al-yad yeminekhaHaShem is thy keeper; HaShem is thy shade upon thy right hand. ו6 יוֹמָם הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ לֹֽא־יַכֶּכָּה וְיָרֵחַ בַּלָּֽיְלָה׃ yomam hashemesh lo-yakekah veyarecha balayelahThe sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. ז7 יְֽהוָה יִשְׁמָרְךָ מִכָּל־רָע יִשְׁמֹר אֶת־נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ Adonai yishmarkha mikal-ra yishmor et-nafshekhaHaShem shall keep thee from all evil; He shall keep thy soul. ח8 יְֽהוָה יִשְׁמָר־צֵאתְךָ וּבוֹאֶךָ מֵֽעַתָּה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם׃ Adonai yishmar-tzetkha uvoekha meatah vead-olamHaShem shall guard thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth and for ever.

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד שָׂמַחְתִּי בְּאֹמְרִים לִי בֵּית יְיָ נֵלֵֽךְ׃ shir hamaalot ledavid samachti beomrim li beit Adonai nelekhA Song of Ascents; of David. I rejoiced when they said unto me: 'Let us go unto the house of HaShem.' ב2 עֹמְדוֹת הָיוּ רַגְלֵינוּ בִּשְׁעָרַיִךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ omdot hayu ragleinu bishearayikh yerushalaimOur feet are standing within thy gates, O Jerusalem; ג3 יְרוּשָׁלִַם הַבְּנוּיָה כְּעִיר שֶׁחֻבְּרָה־לָּהּ יַחְדָּֽו׃ yerushalaim habnuyah keir shechubrah-lah yachdavJerusalem, that art builded as a city that is compact together; ד4 שֶׁשָּׁם עָלוּ שְׁבָטִים שִׁבְטֵי־יָהּ עֵדוּת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְהֹדוֹת לְשֵׁם יְהוָֽה׃ shesham alu shevatim shivtei-yah edut leyisrael lehodot leshem AdonaiWhither the tribes went up, even the tribes of HaShem, as a testimony unto Israel, to give thanks unto the name of HaShem. ה5 כִּי שָׁמָּה ׀ יָשְׁבוּ כִסְאוֹת לְמִשְׁפָּט כִּסְאוֹת לְבֵית דָּוִֽיד׃ ki shamah ׀ yashvu khisot lemishpat kiseot leveit davidFor there were set thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. ו6 שַׁאֲלוּ שְׁלוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָם יִשְׁלָיוּ אֹהֲבָֽיִךְ׃ shaalu shelom yerushalaim yishlayu ohavayikhPray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee. ז7 יְהִֽי־שָׁלוֹם בְּחֵילֵךְ שַׁלְוָה בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָֽיִךְ׃ yehi-shalom becheilekh shalvah bearmnotayikhPeace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. ח8 לְמַעַן אַחַי וְרֵעָי אֲדַבְּרָה־נָּא שָׁלוֹם בָּֽךְ׃ lemaan achay vereay adabrah-na shalom bakheFor my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say: 'Peace be within thee.' ט9 לְמַעַן בֵּית־יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֲבַקְשָׁה טוֹב לָֽךְ׃ lemaan beit-Adonai eloheinu avakshah tov lakhFor the sake of the house of HaShem our G-d I will seek thy good.
פרק קכ״גPsalm 123
א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת אֵלֶיךָ נָשָׂאתִי אֶת־עֵינַי הַיֹּשְׁבִי בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ shir hamaalot eleikha nasati et-einay hayoshevi bashamayimA Song of Ascents. Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, O Thou that art enthroned in the heavens. ב2 הִנֵּה כְעֵינֵי עֲבָדִים אֶל־יַד אֲֽדוֹנֵיהֶם כְּעֵינֵי שִׁפְחָה אֶל־יַד גְּבִרְתָּהּ כֵּן עֵינֵינוּ אֶל־יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ עַד שֶׁיְּחָנֵּֽנוּ׃ hineh kheeinei avadim el-yad adoneihem keeinei shifchah el-yad gevirtah ken eineinu el-Adonai eloheinu ad sheichanenuBehold, as the eyes of servants unto the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes look unto HaShem our G-d, until He be gracious unto us. ג3 חָנֵּנוּ יְיָ חָנֵּנוּ כִּֽי־רַב שָׂבַעְנוּ בֽוּז׃ chanenu Adonai chanenu ki-rav savanu vuzBe gracious unto us, O HaShem, be gracious unto us; for we are full sated with contempt. ד4 רַבַּת שָֽׂבְעָה־לָּהּ נַפְשֵׁנוּ הַלַּעַג הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּים הַבּוּז לִגְאֵיוֹנִֽים׃ rabat savah-lah nafshenu halaag hashaananim habuz ligeyonimOur soul is full sated with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud oppressors.

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד לוּלֵי יְיָ שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ יֹֽאמַר־נָא יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ shir hamaalot ledavid lulei Adonai shehayah lanu yomar-na yisraelA Song of Ascents; of David. 'If it had not been HaShem who was for us', let Israel now say; ב2 לוּלֵי יְיָ שֶׁהָיָה לָנוּ בְּקוּם עָלֵינוּ אָדָֽם׃ lulei Adonai shehayah lanu bekum aleinu adam'If it had not been HaShem who was for us, when men rose up against us, ג3 אֲזַי חַיִּים בְּלָעוּנוּ בַּחֲרוֹת אַפָּם בָּֽנוּ׃ azay chayim belaunu bacharot apam banuThen they had swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; ד4 אֲזַי הַמַּיִם שְׁטָפוּנוּ נַחְלָה עָבַר עַל־נַפְשֵֽׁנוּ׃ azay hamayim shetafunu nachlah avar al-nafshenuThen the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul; ה5 אֲזַי עָבַר עַל־נַפְשֵׁנוּ הַמַּיִם הַזֵּֽידוֹנִֽים׃ azay avar al-nafshenu hamayim hazeidonimThen the proud waters had gone over our soul.' ו6 בָּרוּךְ יְיָ שֶׁלֹּא נְתָנָנוּ טֶרֶף לְשִׁנֵּיהֶֽם׃ barukh Adonai shelo netananu teref leshineihemBlessed be HaShem, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. ז7 נַפְשֵׁנוּ כְּצִפּוֹר נִמְלְטָה מִפַּח יוֹקְשִׁים הַפַּח נִשְׁבָּר וַאֲנַחְנוּ נִמְלָֽטְנוּ׃ nafshenu ketzipor nimltah mipach yokshim hapach nishbar vaanachnu nimlatnuOur soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped. ח8 עֶזְרֵנוּ בְּשֵׁם יְיָ עֹשֵׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃ ezrenu beshem Adonai oseh shamayim vaaretzOur help is in the name of HaShem, who made heaven and earth.
פרק קכ״הPsalm 125
א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת הַבֹּטְחִים בַּיהוָה כְּֽהַר־צִיּוֹן לֹא־יִמּוֹט לְעוֹלָם יֵשֵֽׁב׃ shir hamaalot habotechim bayhvah kehar-tziyon lo-yimot leolam yeshevA Song of Ascents. They that trust in HaShem are as mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abideth for ever. ב2 יְֽרוּשָׁלִַם הָרִים סָבִיב לָהּ וַיהוָה סָבִיב לְעַמּוֹ מֵעַתָּה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם׃ yerushalaim harim saviv lah vayhvah saviv leamo meatah vead-olamAs the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so HaShem is round about His people, from this time forth and for ever. ג3 כִּי לֹא יָנוּחַ שֵׁבֶט הָרֶשַׁע עַל גּוֹרַל הַֽצַּדִּיקִים לְמַעַן לֹא־יִשְׁלְחוּ הַצַּדִּיקִים בְּעַוְלָתָה יְדֵיהֶֽם׃ ki lo yanucha shevet haresha al goral hatzadikim lemaan lo-yishlchu hatzadikim beavlatah yedeihemFor the rod of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; that the righteous put not forth their hands unto iniquity. ד4 הֵיטִיבָה יְיָ לַטּוֹבִים וְלִֽישָׁרִים בְּלִבּוֹתָֽם׃ heitivah Adonai latovim velisharim belibotamDo good, O HaShem, unto the good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. ה5 וְהַמַּטִּים עַֽקַלְקַלּוֹתָם יוֹלִיכֵם יְיָ אֶת־פֹּעֲלֵי הָאָוֶן שָׁלוֹם עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ vehamatim akalkalotam yolikhem Adonai et-poalei haaven shalom al-yisraelBut as for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, HaShem will lead them away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel.
פרק קכ״וPsalm 126
א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת בְּשׁוּב יְיָ אֶת־שִׁיבַת צִיּוֹן הָיִינוּ כְּחֹלְמִֽים׃ shir hamaalot beshuv Adonai et-shivat tziyon hayinu kecholmimA Song of Ascents. When HaShem brought back those that returned to Zion, we were like unto them that dream. ב2 אָז יִמָּלֵא שְׂחוֹק פִּינוּ וּלְשׁוֹנֵנוּ רִנָּה אָז יֹאמְרוּ בַגּוֹיִם הִגְדִּיל יְיָ לַעֲשׂוֹת עִם־אֵֽלֶּה׃ az yimale sechok pinu ulshonenu rinah az yomru vagoyim higdil Adonai laasot im-elehThen was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing; then said they among the nations: 'The HaShem hath done great things with these.' ג3 הִגְדִּיל יְיָ לַעֲשׂוֹת עִמָּנוּ הָיִינוּ שְׂמֵחִֽים׃ higdil Adonai laasot imanu hayinu semechimHaShem hath done great things with us; we are rejoiced. ד4 שׁוּבָה יְיָ אֶת־שבותנו כַּאֲפִיקִים בַּנֶּֽגֶב׃ shuvah Adonai et-shvvtnv kaafikim banegevTurn our captivity, O HaShem, as the streams in the dry land. ה5 הַזֹּרְעִים בְּדִמְעָה בְּרִנָּה יִקְצֹֽרוּ׃ hazoreim bedimah berinah yiktzoruThey that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ו6 הָלוֹךְ יֵלֵךְ ׀ וּבָכֹה נֹשֵׂא מֶֽשֶׁךְ־הַזָּרַע בֹּֽא־יָבוֹא בְרִנָּה נֹשֵׂא אֲלֻמֹּתָֽיו׃ halokh yelekh ׀ uvakhoh nose meshekh-hazara bo-yavo verinah nose alumotayvThough he goeth on his way weeping that beareth the measure of seed, he shall come home with joy, bearing his sheaves.

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּֽעֲלוֹת לִשְׁלֹמֹה אִם־יְיָ ׀ לֹא־יִבְנֶה בַיִת שָׁוְא ׀ עָמְלוּ בוֹנָיו בּוֹ אִם־יְיָ לֹֽא־יִשְׁמָר־עִיר שָׁוְא ׀ שָׁקַד שׁוֹמֵֽר׃ shir hamaalot lishlomoh im-Adonai ׀ lo-yivneh vayit shav ׀ amlu vonayv bo im-Adonai lo-yishmar-ir shav ׀ shakad shomerA Song of Ascents; of Solomon. Except HaShem build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except HaShem keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. ב2 שָׁוְא לָכֶם ׀ מַשְׁכִּימֵי קוּם מְאַֽחֲרֵי־שֶׁבֶת אֹכְלֵי לֶחֶם הָעֲצָבִים כֵּן יִתֵּן לִֽידִידוֹ שֵׁנָֽא׃ shav lakhem ׀ mashkimei kum meacharei-shevet okhlei lechem haatzavim ken yiten lidido shenaIt is vain for you that ye rise early, and sit up late, ye that eat the bread of toil; so He giveth unto His beloved in sleep. ג3 הִנֵּה נַחֲלַת יְיָ בָּנִים שָׂכָר פְּרִי הַבָּֽטֶן׃ hineh nachalat Adonai banim sakhar peri habatenLo, children are a heritage of HaShem; the fruit of the womb is a reward. ד4 כְּחִצִּים בְּיַד־גִּבּוֹר כֵּן בְּנֵי הַנְּעוּרִֽים׃ kechitzim beyad-gibor ken benei hanurimAs arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of one's youth. ה5 אַשְׁרֵי הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר מִלֵּא אֶת־אַשְׁפָּתוֹ מֵהֶם לֹֽא־יֵבֹשׁוּ כִּֽי־יְדַבְּרוּ אֶת־אוֹיְבִים בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ ashrei hagever asher mile et-ashpato mehem lo-yevoshu ki-yedabru et-oyvim bashaarHappy is the man that hath his quiver full of them; they shall not be put to shame, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
פרק קכ״חPsalm 128
א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת אַשְׁרֵי כָּל־יְרֵא יְיָ הַהֹלֵךְ בִּדְרָכָֽיו׃ shir hamaalot ashrei kal-yere Adonai haholekh biderakhayvA Song of Ascents. Happy is every one that feareth HaShem, that walketh in His ways. ב2 יְגִיעַ כַּפֶּיךָ כִּי תֹאכֵל אַשְׁרֶיךָ וְטוֹב לָֽךְ׃ yegiya kapeikha ki tokhel ashreikha vetov lakhWhen thou eatest the labour of thy hands, happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. ג3 אֶשְׁתְּךָ ׀ כְּגֶפֶן פֹּרִיָּה בְּיַרְכְּתֵי בֵיתֶךָ בָּנֶיךָ כִּשְׁתִלֵי זֵיתִים סָבִיב לְשֻׁלְחָנֶֽךָ׃ eshtkha ׀ kegefen poriyah beyarktei veitekha baneikha kishetilei zeitim saviv leshulchanekhaThy wife shall be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of thy house; thy children like olive plants, round about thy table. ד4 הִנֵּה כִי־כֵן יְבֹרַךְ גָּבֶר יְרֵא יְהוָֽה׃ hineh khi-khen yevorakh gaver yere AdonaiBehold, surely thus shall the man be blessed that feareth HaShem. ה5 יְבָרֶכְךָ יְיָ מִצִּיּוֹן וּרְאֵה בְּטוּב יְרוּשָׁלִָם כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּֽיךָ׃ yevarekhkha Adonai mitziyon ureh betuv yerushalaim kol yemei chayeikhaHaShem bless thee out of Zion; and see thou the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life; ו6 וּרְאֵֽה־בָנִים לְבָנֶיךָ שָׁלוֹם עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ ureh-vanim levaneikha shalom al-yisraelAnd see thy children's children. Peace be upon Israel!
פרק קכ״טPsalm 129
א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת רַבַּת צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרַי יֹֽאמַר־נָא יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ shir hamaalot rabat tzeraruni minuray yomar-na yisraelA Song of Ascents. 'Much have they afflicted me from my youth up', let Israel now say; ב2 רַבַּת צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרָי גַּם לֹא־יָכְלוּ לִֽי׃ rabat tzeraruni minuray gam lo-yakhlu li'Much have they afflicted me from my youth up; but they have not prevailed against me. ג3 עַל־גַּבִּי חָרְשׁוּ חֹרְשִׁים הֶאֱרִיכוּ למענותם׃ al-gabi charshu chorshim heerikhu lmnvtmThe plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows. ד4 יְיָ צַדִּיק קִצֵּץ עֲבוֹת רְשָׁעִֽים׃ Adonai tzadik kitzetz avot reshaimHaShem is righteous; He hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.' ה5 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר כֹּל שֹׂנְאֵי צִיּֽוֹן׃ yevoshu veyisogu achor kol sonei tziyonLet them be ashamed and turned backward, all they that hate Zion. ו6 יִהְיוּ כַּחֲצִיר גַּגּוֹת שֶׁקַּדְמַת שָׁלַף יָבֵֽשׁ׃ yihyu kachatzir gagot shekademat shalaf yaveshLet them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it springeth up; ז7 שֶׁלֹּא מִלֵּא כַפּוֹ קוֹצֵר וְחִצְנוֹ מְעַמֵּֽר׃ shelo mile khapo kotzer vechitzno meamerWherewith the reaper filleth not his hand, nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom. ח8 וְלֹא אָֽמְרוּ ׀ הָעֹבְרִים בִּרְכַּֽת־יְיָ אֲלֵיכֶם בֵּרַכְנוּ אֶתְכֶם בְּשֵׁם יְהוָֽה׃ velo amru ׀ haovrim birekat-Adonai aleikhem berakhnu etkhem beshem AdonaiNeither do they that go by say: 'The blessing of HaShem be upon you; we bless you in the name of HaShem.'

Out of the depths have I called Thee, O HaShem. ב2 אֲדֹנָי שִׁמְעָה בְקוֹלִי תִּהְיֶינָה אָזְנֶיךָ קַשֻּׁבוֹת לְקוֹל תַּחֲנוּנָֽי׃ Adonai shimah vekoli tiheyeinah azneikha kashuvot lekol tachanunayL-rd, hearken unto my voice; let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. ג3 אִם־עֲוֺנוֹת תִּשְׁמָר־יָהּ אֲדֹנָי מִי יַעֲמֹֽד׃ im-aonot tishemar-yah Adonai mi yaamodIf Thou, HaShem, shouldest mark iniquities, O L-rd, who could stand? ד4 כִּֽי־עִמְּךָ הַסְּלִיחָה לְמַעַן תִּוָּרֵֽא׃ ki-imkha haslichah lemaan tivareFor with Thee there is forgiveness, that Thou mayest be feared. ה5 קִוִּיתִי יְיָ קִוְּתָה נַפְשִׁי וְֽלִדְבָרוֹ הוֹחָֽלְתִּי׃ kiviti Adonai kivtah nafshi velidvaro hochaltiI wait for HaShem, my soul doth wait, and in His word do I hope. ו6 נַפְשִׁי לַֽאדֹנָי מִשֹּׁמְרִים לַבֹּקֶר שֹׁמְרִים לַבֹּֽקֶר׃ nafshi ladonay mishomerim laboker shomrim labokerMy soul waiteth for the L-rd, more than watchmen for the morning; yea, more than watchmen for the morning. ז7 יַחֵל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־יְיָ כִּֽי־עִם־יְיָ הַחֶסֶד וְהַרְבֵּה עִמּוֹ פְדֽוּת׃ yachel yisrael el-Adonai ki-im-Adonai hachesed veharbeh imo fedutO Israel, hope in HaShem; for with HaShem there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption. ח8 וְהוּא יִפְדֶּה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכֹּל עֲוֺנֹתָֽיו׃ vehu yifdeh et-yisrael mikol aonotayvAnd He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּֽעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד יְיָ ׀ לֹא־גָבַהּ לִבִּי וְלֹא־רָמוּ עֵינַי וְלֹֽא־הִלַּכְתִּי ׀ בִּגְדֹלוֹת וּבְנִפְלָאוֹת מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ shir hamaalot ledavid Adonai ׀ lo-gavah libi velo-ramu einay velo-hilakheti ׀ bigedolot uvniflaot mimeniA Song of Ascents; of David. HaShem, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in things too great, or in things too wonderful for me. ב2 אִם־לֹא שִׁוִּיתִי ׀ וְדוֹמַמְתִּי נַפְשִׁי כְּגָמֻל עֲלֵי אִמּוֹ כַּגָּמֻל עָלַי נַפְשִֽׁי׃ im-lo shiviti ׀ vedomamti nafshi kegamul alei imo kagamul alay nafshiSurely I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother; my soul is with me like a weaned child. ג3 יַחֵל יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־יְיָ מֵֽעַתָּה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם׃ yachel yisrael el-Adonai meatah vead-olamO Israel, hope in HaShem from this time forth and for ever.

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת זְכוֹר־יְיָ לְדָוִד אֵת כָּל־עֻנּוֹתֽוֹ׃ shir hamaalot zekhor-Adonai ledavid et kal-unotoA Song of Ascents. HaShem, remember unto David all his affliction; ב2 אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לַיהוָה נָדַר לַאֲבִיר יַעֲקֹֽב׃ asher nishba layhvah nadar laavir yaakovHow he swore unto HaShem, and vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob: ג3 אִם־אָבֹא בְּאֹהֶל בֵּיתִי אִם־אֶעֱלֶה עַל־עֶרֶשׂ יְצוּעָֽי׃ im-avo beohel beiti im-eeleh al-eres yetzuay'Surely I will not come into the tent of my house, nor go up into the bed that is spread for me; ד4 אִם־אֶתֵּן שְׁנַת לְעֵינָי לְֽעַפְעַפַּי תְּנוּמָֽה׃ im-eten shenat leeinay leafapay tenumahI will not give sleep to mine eyes, nor slumber to mine eyelids; ה5 עַד־אֶמְצָא מָקוֹם לַיהוָה מִשְׁכָּנוֹת לַאֲבִיר יַעֲקֹֽב׃ ad-emtza makom layhvah mishkanot laavir yaakovUntil I find out a place for HaShem, a dwelling-place for the Mighty One of Jacob.' ו6 הִנֵּֽה־שְׁמַֽעֲנוּהָ בְאֶפְרָתָה מְצָאנוּהָ בִּשְׂדֵי־יָֽעַר׃ hineh-shemaanuha veefratah metzanuha bisedei-yaarLo, we heard of it as being in Ephrath; we found it in the field of the wood. ז7 נָבוֹאָה לְמִשְׁכְּנוֹתָיו נִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לַהֲדֹם רַגְלָֽיו׃ navoah lemishknotayv nishtachaveh lahadom raglayvLet us go into His dwelling-place; let us worship at His footstool. ח8 קוּמָה יְיָ לִמְנוּחָתֶךָ אַתָּה וַאֲרוֹן עֻזֶּֽךָ׃ kumah Adonai limnuchatekha atah vaaron uzekhaArise, O HaShem, unto Thy resting-place; Thou, and the ark of Thy strength. ט9 כֹּהֲנֶיךָ יִלְבְּשׁוּ־צֶדֶק וַחֲסִידֶיךָ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ׃ kohaneikha yilbshu-tzedek vachasideikha yeranenuLet Thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let Thy saints shout for joy. י10 בַּעֲבוּר דָּוִד עַבְדֶּךָ אַל־תָּשֵׁב פְּנֵי מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃ baavur david avdekha al-tashev penei meshichekhaFor Thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of Thine anointed. יא11 נִשְׁבַּֽע־יְיָ ׀ לְדָוִד אֱמֶת לֹֽא־יָשׁוּב מִמֶּנָּה מִפְּרִי בִטְנְךָ אָשִׁית לְכִסֵּא־לָֽךְ׃ nishba-Adonai ׀ ledavid emet lo-yashuv mimenah mipri vitnkha ashit lekhise-lakhHaShem swore unto David in truth; He will not turn back from it: 'Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. יב12 אִֽם־יִשְׁמְרוּ בָנֶיךָ ׀ בְּרִיתִי וְעֵדֹתִי זוֹ אֲלַמְּדֵם גַּם־בְּנֵיהֶם עֲדֵי־עַד יֵשְׁבוּ לְכִסֵּא־לָֽךְ׃ im-yishmru vaneikha ׀ beriti veedoti zo alamdem gam-beneihem adei-ad yeshvu lekhise-lakhIf thy children keep My covenant and My testimony that I shall teach them, their children also for ever shall sit upon thy throne.' יג13 כִּֽי־בָחַר יְיָ בְּצִיּוֹן אִוָּהּ לְמוֹשָׁב לֽוֹ׃ ki-vachar Adonai betziyon ivah lemoshav loFor HaShem hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for His habitation: יד14 זֹאת־מְנוּחָתִי עֲדֵי־עַד פֹּֽה־אֵשֵׁב כִּי אִוִּתִֽיהָ׃ zot-menuchati adei-ad poh-eshev ki ivitiha'This is My resting-place for ever; here will I dwell; for I have desired it. טו15 צֵידָהּ בָּרֵךְ אֲבָרֵךְ אֶבְיוֹנֶיהָ אַשְׂבִּיעַֽ לָֽחֶם׃ tzeidah barekh avarekh evyoneiha asbiya lachemI will abundantly bless her provision; I will give her needy bread in plenty. טז16 וְֽכֹהֲנֶיהָ אַלְבִּישׁ יֶשַׁע וַחֲסִידֶיהָ רַנֵּן יְרַנֵּֽנוּ׃ vekhohaneiha albish yesha vachasideiha ranen yeranenuHer priests also will I clothe with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. יז17 שָׁם אַצְמִיחַ קֶרֶן לְדָוִד עָרַכְתִּי נֵר לִמְשִׁיחִֽי׃ sham atzmicha keren ledavid arakhti ner limshichiThere will I make a horn to shoot up unto David, there have I ordered a lamp for Mine anointed. יח18 אוֹיְבָיו אַלְבִּישׁ בֹּשֶׁת וְעָלָיו יָצִיץ נִזְרֽוֹ׃ oyvayv albish boshet vealayv yatzitz nizroHis enemies will I clothe with shame; but upon himself shall his crown shine.'

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד הִנֵּה מַה־טּוֹב וּמַה־נָּעִים שֶׁבֶת אַחִים גַּם־יָֽחַד׃ shir hamaalot ledavid hineh mah-tov umah-naim shevet achim gam-yachadA Song of Ascents; of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! ב2 כַּשֶּׁמֶן הַטּוֹב ׀ עַל־הָרֹאשׁ יֹרֵד עַֽל־הַזָּקָן זְקַֽן־אַהֲרֹן שֶׁיֹּרֵד עַל־פִּי מִדּוֹתָֽיו׃ kashemen hatov ׀ al-harosh yored al-hazakan zekan-aharon sheyored al-pi midotayvIt is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard; even Aaron's beard, that cometh down upon the collar of his garments; ג3 כְּטַל־חֶרְמוֹן שֶׁיֹּרֵד עַל־הַרְרֵי צִיּוֹן כִּי שָׁם ׀ צִוָּה יְיָ אֶת־הַבְּרָכָה חַיִּים עַד־הָעוֹלָֽם׃ ketal-chermon sheyored al-harrei tziyon ki sham ׀ tzivah Adonai et-habrakhah chayim ad-haolamLike the dew of Hermon, that cometh down upon the mountains of Zion; for there HaShem commanded the blessing, even life for ever.

א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת הִנֵּה ׀ בָּרֲכוּ אֶת־יְיָ כָּל־עַבְדֵי יְיָ הָעֹמְדִים בְּבֵית־יְיָ בַּלֵּילֽוֹת׃ shir hamaalot hineh ׀ barakhu et-Adonai kal-avdei Adonai haomdim beveit-Adonai baleilotA Song of Ascents. Behold, bless ye HaShem, all ye servants of HaShem, that stand in the house of HaShem in the night seasons. ב2 שְׂאֽוּ־יְדֵכֶם קֹדֶשׁ וּבָרֲכוּ אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ seu-yedekhem kodesh uvarakhu et-AdonaiLift up your hands to the sanctuary, and bless ye HaShem. ג3 יְבָרֶכְךָ יְיָ מִצִּיּוֹן עֹשֵׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃ yevarekhkha Adonai mitziyon oseh shamayim vaaretzHaShem bless thee out of Zion; even He that made heaven and earth.

Praise ye the name of HaShem; give praise, O ye servants of HaShem, ב2 שֶׁעֹֽמְדִים בְּבֵית יְיָ בְּחַצְרוֹת בֵּית אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ sheomdim beveit Adonai bechatzrot beit eloheinuYe that stand in the house of HaShem, in the courts of the house of our G-d. ג3 הַֽלְלוּ־יָהּ כִּי־טוֹב יְיָ זַמְּרוּ לִשְׁמוֹ כִּי נָעִֽים׃ hallu-yah ki-tov Adonai zamru lishmo ki naimPraise ye HaShem, for HaShem is good; sing praises unto His name, for it is pleasant. ד4 כִּֽי־יַעֲקֹב בָּחַר לוֹ יָהּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לִסְגֻלָּתֽוֹ׃ ki-yaakov bachar lo yah yisrael lisgulatoFor HaShem hath chosen Jacob unto Himself, and Israel for His own treasure. ה5 כִּי אֲנִי יָדַעְתִּי כִּי־גָדוֹל יְיָ וַאֲדֹנֵינוּ מִכָּל־אֱלֹהִֽים׃ ki ani yadati ki-gadol Adonai vaadoneinu mikal-elohimFor I know that HaShem is great, and that our L-rd is above all gods. ו6 כֹּל אֲשֶׁר־חָפֵץ יְיָ עָשָׂה בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָרֶץ בַּיַּמִּים וְכָל־תְּהוֹמֽוֹת׃ kol asher-chafetz Adonai asah bashamayim uvaaretz bayamim vekhal-tehomotWhatsoever HaShem pleased, that hath He done, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps; ז7 מַֽעֲלֶה נְשִׂאִים מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ בְּרָקִים לַמָּטָר עָשָׂה מֽוֹצֵא־רוּחַ מֵאֽוֹצְרוֹתָֽיו׃ maaleh nesiim miktzeh haaretz berakim lamatar asah motze-rucha meotzrotayvWho causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; He maketh lightnings for the rain; He bringeth forth the wind out of His treasuries. ח8 שֶֽׁהִכָּה בְּכוֹרֵי מִצְרָיִם מֵאָדָם עַד־בְּהֵמָֽה׃ shehikah bekhorei mitzrayim meadam ad-behemahWho smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast. ט9 שָׁלַח ׀ אֹתוֹת וּמֹפְתִים בְּתוֹכֵכִי מִצְרָיִם בְּפַרְעֹה וּבְכָל־עֲבָדָֽיו׃ shalach ׀ otot umoftim betokhekhi mitzrayim befaroh uvkhal-avadayvHe sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants. י10 שֶֽׁהִכָּה גּוֹיִם רַבִּים וְהָרַג מְלָכִים עֲצוּמִֽים׃ shehikah goyim rabim veharag melakhim atzumimWho smote many nations, and slew mighty kings: יא11 לְסִיחוֹן ׀ מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי וּלְעוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן וּלְכֹל מַמְלְכוֹת כְּנָֽעַן׃ lesichon ׀ melekh haemori ulog melekh habashan ulkhol mamlkhot kenaanSihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan; יב12 וְנָתַן אַרְצָם נַחֲלָה נַחֲלָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל עַמּֽוֹ׃ venatan artzam nachalah nachalah leyisrael amoAnd gave their land for a heritage, a heritage unto Israel His people. יג13 יְיָ שִׁמְךָ לְעוֹלָם יְיָ זִכְרְךָ לְדֹר־וָדֹֽר׃ Adonai shimkha leolam Adonai zikhrkha ledor-vadorO HaShem, Thy name endureth for ever; thy memorial, O HaShem, throughout all generations. יד14 כִּֽי־יָדִין יְיָ עַמּוֹ וְעַל־עֲבָדָיו יִתְנֶחָֽם׃ ki-yadin Adonai amo veal-avadayv yitnechamFor HaShem will judge His people, and repent Himself for His servants. טו15 עֲצַבֵּי הַגּוֹיִם כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב מַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵי אָדָֽם׃ atzabei hagoyim kesef vezahav maaseh yedei adamThe idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. טז16 פֶּֽה־לָהֶם וְלֹא יְדַבֵּרוּ עֵינַיִם לָהֶם וְלֹא יִרְאֽוּ׃ peh-lahem velo yedaberu einayim lahem velo yiruThey have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; יז17 אָזְנַיִם לָהֶם וְלֹא יַאֲזִינוּ אַף אֵין־יֶשׁ־רוּחַ בְּפִיהֶֽם׃ aznayim lahem velo yaazinu af ein-yesh-rucha befihemThey have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. יח18 כְּמוֹהֶם יִהְיוּ עֹשֵׂיהֶם כֹּל אֲשֶׁר־בֹּטֵחַ בָּהֶֽם׃ kemohem yihyu oseihem kol asher-botecha bahemThey that make them shall be like unto them; yea, every one that trusteth in them. יט19 בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּרֲכוּ אֶת־יְיָ בֵּית אַהֲרֹן בָּרֲכוּ אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ beit yisrael barakhu et-Adonai beit aharon barakhu et-AdonaiO house of Israel, bless ye HaShem; O house of Aaron, bless ye HaShem; כ20 בֵּית הַלֵּוִי בָּרֲכוּ אֶת־יְיָ יִֽרְאֵי יְיָ בָּרֲכוּ אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ beit halevi barakhu et-Adonai yirei Adonai barakhu et-AdonaiO house of Levi, bless ye HaShem; ye that fear HaShem, bless ye HaShem. כא21 בָּרוּךְ יְיָ ׀ מִצִּיּוֹן שֹׁכֵן יְֽרוּשָׁלִָם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ barukh Adonai ׀ mitziyon shokhen yerushalaim hallu-yahBlessed be HaShem out of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem. א1 הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה כִּי־טוֹב כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ hodu layhvah ki-tov ki leolam chasdoO give thanks unto HaShem, for He is good, for His mercy endureth for ever. ב2 הוֹדוּ לֵֽאלֹהֵי הָאֱלֹהִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ hodu lelohei haelohim ki leolam chasdoO give thanks unto the G-d of gods, for His mercy endureth for ever. ג3 הוֹדוּ לַאֲדֹנֵי הָאֲדֹנִים כִּי לְעֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ hodu laadonei haadonim ki leolam chasdoO give thanks unto the L-rd of lords, for His mercy endureth for ever. ד4 לְעֹשֵׂה נִפְלָאוֹת גְּדֹלוֹת לְבַדּוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ leoseh niflaot gedolot levado ki leolam chasdoTo Him who alone doeth great wonders, for His mercy endureth for ever. ה5 לְעֹשֵׂה הַשָּׁמַיִם בִּתְבוּנָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ leoseh hashamayim bitevunah ki leolam chasdoTo Him that by understanding made the heavens, for His mercy endureth for ever. ו6 לְרֹקַע הָאָרֶץ עַל־הַמָּיִם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ leroka haaretz al-hamayim ki leolam chasdoTo Him that spread forth the earth above the waters, for His mercy endureth for ever. ז7 לְעֹשֵׂה אוֹרִים גְּדֹלִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ leoseh orim gedolim ki leolam chasdoTo Him that made great lights, for His mercy endureth for ever; ח8 אֶת־הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ לְמֶמְשֶׁלֶת בַּיּוֹם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ et-hashemesh lememshelet bayom ki leolam chasdoThe sun to rule by day, for His mercy endureth for ever; ט9 אֶת־הַיָּרֵחַ וְכוֹכָבִים לְמֶמְשְׁלוֹת בַּלָּיְלָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ et-hayarecha vekhokhavim lememshlot balayelah ki leolam chasdoThe moon and stars to rule by night, for His mercy endureth for ever. י10 לְמַכֵּה מִצְרַיִם בִּבְכוֹרֵיהֶם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ lemakeh mitzrayim bivekhoreihem ki leolam chasdoTo Him that smote Egypt in their first-born, for His mercy endureth for ever; יא11 וַיּוֹצֵא יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ vayotze yisrael mitokham ki leolam chasdoAnd brought out Israel from among them, for His mercy endureth for ever; יב12 בְּיָד חֲזָקָה וּבִזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ beyad chazakah uvizroa netuyah ki leolam chasdoWith a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, for His mercy endureth for ever. יג13 לְגֹזֵר יַם־סוּף לִגְזָרִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ legozer yam-suf ligzarim ki leolam chasdoTo Him who divided the Red Sea in sunder, for His mercy endureth for ever; יד14 וְהֶעֱבִיר יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּתוֹכוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ veheevir yisrael betokho ki leolam chasdoAnd made Israel to pass through the midst of it, for His mercy endureth for ever; טו15 וְנִעֵר פַּרְעֹה וְחֵילוֹ בְיַם־סוּף כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ venier pareoh vecheilo veyam-suf ki leolam chasdoBut overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea, for His mercy endureth for ever. טז16 לְמוֹלִיךְ עַמּוֹ בַּמִּדְבָּר כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ lemolikh amo bamidebar ki leolam chasdoTo Him that led His people through the wilderness, for His mercy endureth for ever. יז17 לְמַכֵּה מְלָכִים גְּדֹלִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ lemakeh melakhim gedolim ki leolam chasdoTo Him that smote great kings; for His mercy endureth for ever; יח18 וַֽיַּהֲרֹג מְלָכִים אַדִּירִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ vayaharog melakhim adirim ki leolam chasdoAnd slew mighty kings, for His mercy endureth for ever. יט19 לְסִיחוֹן מֶלֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִי כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ lesichon melekh haemori ki leolam chasdoSihon king of the Amorites, for His mercy endureth for ever; כ20 וּלְעוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ ulog melekh habashan ki leolam chasdoAnd Og king of Bashan, for His mercy endureth for ever; כא21 וְנָתַן אַרְצָם לְנַחֲלָה כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ venatan artzam lenachalah ki leolam chasdoAnd gave their land for a heritage, for His mercy endureth for ever; כב22 נַחֲלָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל עַבְדּוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ nachalah leyisrael avdo ki leolam chasdoEven a heritage unto Israel His servant, for His mercy endureth for ever. כג23 שֶׁבְּשִׁפְלֵנוּ זָכַר לָנוּ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ shebshiflenu zakhar lanu ki leolam chasdoWho remembered us in our low estate, for His mercy endureth for ever; כד24 וַיִּפְרְקֵנוּ מִצָּרֵינוּ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ vayiferkenu mitzareinu ki leolam chasdoAnd hath delivered us from our adversaries, for His mercy endureth for ever. כה25 נֹתֵן לֶחֶם לְכָל־בָּשָׂר כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ noten lechem lekhal-basar ki leolam chasdoWho giveth food to all flesh, for His mercy endureth for ever. כו26 הוֹדוּ לְאֵל הַשָּׁמָיִם כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ hodu leel hashamayim ki leolam chasdoO give thanks unto the G-d of heaven, for His mercy endureth for ever.

א1 עַל נַהֲרוֹת ׀ בָּבֶל שָׁם יָשַׁבְנוּ גַּם־בָּכִינוּ בְּזָכְרֵנוּ אֶת־צִיּֽוֹן׃ al naharot ׀ bavel sham yashavnu gam-bakhinu bezakhrenu et-tziyonBy the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. ב2 עַֽל־עֲרָבִים בְּתוֹכָהּ תָּלִינוּ כִּנֹּרוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ al-aravim betokhah talinu kinoroteinuUpon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps. ג3 כִּי שָׁם שְֽׁאֵלוּנוּ שׁוֹבֵינוּ דִּבְרֵי־שִׁיר וְתוֹלָלֵינוּ שִׂמְחָה שִׁירוּ לָנוּ מִשִּׁיר צִיּֽוֹן׃ ki sham sheelunu shoveinu diverei-shir vetolaleinu simchah shiru lanu mishir tziyonFor there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth: 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion.' ד4 אֵיךְ נָשִׁיר אֶת־שִׁיר־יְיָ עַל אַדְמַת נֵכָֽר׃ eikh nashir et-shir-Adonai al admat nekharHow shall we sing HaShem'S song in a foreign land? ה5 אִֽם־אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְ יְֽרוּשָׁלִָם תִּשְׁכַּח יְמִינִֽי׃ im-eshkachekh yerushalaim tishekach yeminiIf I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. ו6 תִּדְבַּק־לְשׁוֹנִי ׀ לְחִכִּי אִם־לֹא אֶזְכְּרֵכִי אִם־לֹא אַעֲלֶה אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַם עַל רֹאשׁ שִׂמְחָתִֽי׃ tidebak-leshoni ׀ lechiki im-lo ezkrekhi im-lo aaleh et-yerushalaim al rosh simchatiLet my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember thee not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy. ז7 זְכֹר יְיָ ׀ לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם אֵת יוֹם יְֽרוּשָׁלִָם הָאֹמְרִים עָרוּ ׀ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסוֹד בָּֽהּ׃ zekhor Adonai ׀ livnei edom et yom yerushalaim haomrim aru ׀ aru ad haysod bahRemember, O HaShem, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said: 'Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.' ח8 בַּת־בָּבֶל הַשְּׁדוּדָה אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־לָךְ אֶת־גְּמוּלֵךְ שֶׁגָּמַלְתְּ לָֽנוּ׃ bat-bavel hashdudah ashrei sheishalem-lakh et-gemulekh shegamalt lanuO daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that repayeth thee as thou hast served us. ט9 אַשְׁרֵי ׀ שֶׁיֹּאחֵז וְנִפֵּץ אֶֽת־עֹלָלַיִךְ אֶל־הַסָּֽלַע׃ ashrei ׀ sheyochez venipetz et-olalayikh el-hasalaHappy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock.
פרק קל״חPsalm 138
א1 לְדָוִד ׀ אוֹדְךָ בְכָל־לִבִּי נֶגֶד אֱלֹהִים אֲזַמְּרֶֽךָּ׃ ledavid ׀ odkha vekhal-libi neged Elohim azamrekaA Psalm of David. I will give Thee thanks with my whole heart, in the presence of the mighty will I sing praises unto Thee. ב2 אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶה אֶל־הֵיכַל קָדְשְׁךָ וְאוֹדֶה אֶת־שְׁמֶךָ עַל־חַסְדְּךָ וְעַל־אֲמִתֶּךָ כִּֽי־הִגְדַּלְתָּ עַל־כָּל־שִׁמְךָ אִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ eshtachaveh el-heikhal kadshkha veodeh et-shemekha al-chasdkha veal-amitekha ki-higdaleta al-kal-shimkha imratekhaI will bow down toward Thy holy temple, and give thanks unto Thy name for Thy mercy and for Thy truth; for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name. ג3 בְּיוֹם קָרָֽאתִי וַֽתַּעֲנֵנִי תַּרְהִבֵנִי בְנַפְשִׁי עֹֽז׃ beyom karati vataaneni tarehiveni venafshi ozIn the day that I called, Thou didst answer me; Thou didst encourage me in my soul with strength. ד4 יוֹדוּךָ יְיָ כָּל־מַלְכֵי־אָרֶץ כִּי שָׁמְעוּ אִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃ yodukha Adonai kal-malkhei-aretz ki shamu imrei-fikhaAll the kings of the earth shall give Thee thanks, O HaShem, for they have heard the words of Thy mouth. ה5 וְיָשִׁירוּ בְּדַרְכֵי יְיָ כִּי גָדוֹל כְּבוֹד יְהוָֽה׃ veyashiru bedarkhei Adonai ki gadol kevod AdonaiYea, they shall sing of the ways of HaShem; for great is the glory of HaShem. ו6 כִּי־רָם יְיָ וְשָׁפָל יִרְאֶה וְגָבֹהַּ מִמֶּרְחָק יְיֵדָֽע׃ ki-ram Adonai veshafal yireh vegavoha mimerechak yeyedaFor though HaShem be high, yet regardeth He the lowly, and the haughty He knoweth from afar. ז7 אִם־אֵלֵךְ ׀ בְּקֶרֶב צָרָה תְּחַיֵּנִי עַל אַף אֹיְבַי תִּשְׁלַח יָדֶךָ וְתוֹשִׁיעֵנִי יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ im-elekh ׀ bekerev tzarah techayeni al af oyvay tishelach yadekha vetoshiyeni yeminekhaThough I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou quickenest me; Thou stretchest forth Thy hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and Thy right hand doth save me. ח8 יְיָ יִגְמֹר בַּעֲדִי יְיָ חַסְדְּךָ לְעוֹלָם מַעֲשֵׂי יָדֶיךָ אַל־תֶּֽרֶף׃ Adonai yigmor baadi Adonai chasdkha leolam maasei yadeikha al-terefHaShem will accomplish that which concerneth me; Thy mercy, O HaShem, endureth for ever; forsake not the work of Thine own hands.

א1 לַמְנַצֵּחַ לְדָוִד מִזְמוֹר יְיָ חֲקַרְתַּנִי וַתֵּדָֽע׃ lamnatzecha ledavid mizmor Adonai chakartani vatedaFor the Leader. A Psalm of David. O HaShem, Thou hast searched me, and known me. ב2 אַתָּה יָדַעְתָּ שִׁבְתִּי וְקוּמִי בַּנְתָּה לְרֵעִי מֵרָחֽוֹק׃ atah yadata shivti vekumi banetah lerei merachokThou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off. ג3 אָרְחִי וְרִבְעִי זֵרִיתָ וְֽכָל־דְּרָכַי הִסְכַּֽנְתָּה׃ archi verivi zerita vekhal-derakhay hiskanetahThou measurest my going about and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. ד4 כִּי אֵין מִלָּה בִּלְשׁוֹנִי הֵן יְיָ יָדַעְתָּ כֻלָּֽהּ׃ ki ein milah bileshoni hen Adonai yadata khulahFor there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O HaShem, Thou knowest it altogether. ה5 אָחוֹר וָקֶדֶם צַרְתָּנִי וַתָּשֶׁת עָלַי כַּפֶּֽכָה׃ achor vakedem tzartani vatashet alay kapekhahThou hast hemmed me in behind and before, and laid Thy hand upon me. ו6 פלאיה דַעַת מִמֶּנִּי נִשְׂגְּבָה לֹא־אוּכַֽל לָֽהּ׃ flyh daat mimeni nisgvah lo-ukhal lahSuch knowledge is too wonderful for me; too high, I cannot attain unto it. ז7 אָנָה אֵלֵךְ מֵרוּחֶךָ וְאָנָה מִפָּנֶיךָ אֶבְרָֽח׃ anah elekh meruchekha veanah mipaneikha evrachWhither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence? ח8 אִם־אֶסַּק שָׁמַיִם שָׁם אָתָּה וְאַצִּיעָה שְּׁאוֹל הִנֶּֽךָּ׃ im-esak shamayim sham atah veatziyah sheol hinekaIf I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there; if I make my bed in the nether-world, behold, Thou art there. ט9 אֶשָּׂא כַנְפֵי־שָׁחַר אֶשְׁכְּנָה בְּאַחֲרִית יָֽם׃ esa khanfei-shachar eshknah beacharit yamIf I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; י10 גַּם־שָׁם יָדְךָ תַנְחֵנִי וְֽתֹאחֲזֵנִי יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ gam-sham yadkha tancheni vetochazeni yeminekhaEven there would Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand would hold me. יא11 וָאֹמַר אַךְ־חֹשֶׁךְ יְשׁוּפֵנִי וְלַיְלָה אוֹר בַּעֲדֵֽנִי׃ vaomar akh-choshekh yeshufeni velaylah or baadeniAnd if I say: 'Surely the darkness shall envelop me, and the light about me shall be night'; יב12 גַּם־חֹשֶׁךְ לֹֽא־יַחְשִׁיךְ מִמֶּךָ וְלַיְלָה כַּיּוֹם יָאִיר כַּחֲשֵׁיכָה כָּאוֹרָֽה׃ gam-choshekh lo-yachshikh mimekha velaylah kayom yair kachasheikhah kaorahEven the darkness is not too dark for Thee, but the night shineth as the day; the darkness is even as the light. יג13 כִּֽי־אַתָּה קָנִיתָ כִלְיֹתָי תְּסֻכֵּנִי בְּבֶטֶן אִמִּֽי׃ ki-atah kanita khilyotay tesukeni beveten imiFor Thou hast made my reins; Thou hast knit me together in my mother's womb. יד14 אֽוֹדְךָ עַל כִּי נוֹרָאוֹת נִפְלֵיתִי נִפְלָאִים מַעֲשֶׂיךָ וְנַפְשִׁי יֹדַעַת מְאֹֽד׃ odkha al ki noraot nifleiti niflaim maaseikha venafshi yodaat meodI will give thanks unto Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. טו15 לֹא־נִכְחַד עָצְמִי מִמֶּךָּ אֲשֶׁר־עֻשֵּׂיתִי בַסֵּתֶר רֻקַּמְתִּי בְּֽתַחְתִּיּוֹת אָֽרֶץ׃ lo-nikhchad atzmi mimeka asher-useiti vaseter rukameti betachtiyot aretzMy frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. טז16 גָּלְמִי ׀ רָאוּ עֵינֶיךָ וְעַֽל־סִפְרְךָ כֻּלָּם יִכָּתֵבוּ יָמִים יֻצָּרוּ ולא אֶחָד בָּהֶֽם׃ galemi ׀ rau eineikha veal-sifrkha kulam yikatevu yamim yutzaru vl echad bahemThine eyes did see mine unformed substance, and in Thy book they were all written--even the days that were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. יז17 וְלִי מַה־יָּקְרוּ רֵעֶיךָ אֵל מֶה עָצְמוּ רָאשֵׁיהֶֽם׃ veli mah-yakeru reeikha el meh atzmu rasheihemHow weighty also are Thy thoughts unto me, O G-d! How great is the sum of them! יח18 אֶסְפְּרֵם מֵחוֹל יִרְבּוּן הֱקִיצֹתִי וְעוֹדִי עִמָּֽךְ׃ esprem mechol yirbun hekitzoti veodi imakheIf I would count them, they are more in number than the sand; were I to come to the end of them, I would still be with Thee. יט19 אִם־תִּקְטֹל אֱלוֹהַּ ׀ רָשָׁע וְאַנְשֵׁי דָמִים סוּרוּ מֶֽנִּי׃ im-tiketol eloha ׀ rasha veanshei damim suru meniIf Thou but wouldest slay the wicked, O G-d--depart from me therefore, ye men of blood; כ20 אֲשֶׁר יֹאמְרֻךָ לִמְזִמָּה נָשֻׂא לַשָּׁוְא עָרֶֽיךָ׃ asher yomrukha limzimah nasu lashave areikhaWho utter Thy name with wicked thought, they take it for falsehood, even Thine enemies-- כא21 הֲלֽוֹא־מְשַׂנְאֶיךָ יְיָ ׀ אֶשְׂנָא וּבִתְקוֹמְמֶיךָ אֶתְקוֹטָֽט׃ halo-mesaneikha Adonai ׀ esna uvitkommeikha etkotatDo not I hate them, O HaShem, that hate Thee? And do not I strive with those that rise up against Thee? כב22 תַּכְלִית שִׂנְאָה שְׂנֵאתִים לְאוֹיְבִים הָיוּ לִֽי׃ takhelit sinah senetim leoyvim hayu liI hate them with utmost hatred; I count them mine enemies. כג23 חָקְרֵנִי אֵל וְדַע לְבָבִי בְּחָנֵנִי וְדַע שַׂרְעַפָּֽי׃ chakreni el veda levavi bechaneni veda sarapaySearch me, O G-d, and know my heart, try me, and know my thoughts; כד24 וּרְאֵה אִם־דֶּֽרֶךְ־עֹצֶב בִּי וּנְחֵנִי בְּדֶרֶךְ עוֹלָֽם׃ ureh im-derekh-otzev bi uncheni bederekh olamAnd see if there be any way in me that is grievous, and lead me in the way everlasting.

A Psalm of David. ב2 חַלְּצֵנִי יְיָ מֵאָדָם רָע מֵאִישׁ חֲמָסִים תִּנְצְרֵֽנִי׃ chaltzeni Adonai meadam ra meish chamasim tinetzreniDeliver me, O HaShem, from the evil man; preserve me from the violent man; ג3 אֲשֶׁר חָשְׁבוּ רָעוֹת בְּלֵב כָּל־יוֹם יָגוּרוּ מִלְחָמֽוֹת׃ asher chashvu raot belev kal-yom yaguru milchamotWho devise evil things in their heart; every day do they stir up wars. ד4 שָֽׁנֲנוּ לְשׁוֹנָם כְּֽמוֹ־נָחָשׁ חֲמַת עַכְשׁוּב תַּחַת שְׂפָתֵימוֹ סֶֽלָה׃ shananu leshonam kemo-nachash chamat akhshuv tachat sefateimo selahThey have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; vipers' venom is under their lips. Selah ה5 שָׁמְרֵנִי יְיָ ׀ מִידֵי רָשָׁע מֵאִישׁ חֲמָסִים תִּנְצְרֵנִי אֲשֶׁר חָשְׁבוּ לִדְחוֹת פְּעָמָֽי׃ shamreni Adonai ׀ midei rasha meish chamasim tinetzreni asher chashvu lidchot peamayKeep me, O HaShem, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to make my steps slip. ו6 טָֽמְנֽוּ־גֵאִים ׀ פַּח לִי וַחֲבָלִים פָּרְשׂוּ רֶשֶׁת לְיַד־מַעְגָּל מֹקְשִׁים שָֽׁתוּ־לִי סֶֽלָה׃ tamnu-geim ׀ pach li vachavalim paresu reshet leyad-magal mokshim shatu-li selahThe proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah ז7 אָמַרְתִּי לַיהוָה אֵלִי אָתָּה הַאֲזִינָה יְיָ קוֹל תַּחֲנוּנָֽי׃ amarti layhvah eli atah haazinah Adonai kol tachanunayI have said unto HaShem: 'Thou art my G-d'; give ear, O HaShem, unto the voice of my supplications. ח8 יְהֹוִה אֲדֹנָי עֹז יְשׁוּעָתִי סַכֹּתָה לְרֹאשִׁי בְּיוֹם נָֽשֶׁק׃ Adonai Adonai oz yeshuati sakotah leroshi beyom nashekO GOD the L-rd, the strength of my salvation, who hast screened my head in the day of battle, ט9 אַל־תִּתֵּן יְיָ מַאֲוַיֵּי רָשָׁע זְמָמוֹ אַל־תָּפֵק יָרוּמוּ סֶֽלָה׃ al-titen Adonai maavayei rasha zemamo al-tafek yarumu selahGrant not, O HaShem, the desires of the wicked; further not his evil device, so that they exalt themselves. Selah י10 רֹאשׁ מְסִבָּי עֲמַל שְׂפָתֵימוֹ יכסומו׃ rosh mesibay amal sefateimo ykhsvmvAs for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. יא11 ימיטו עֲלֵיהֶם גֶּֽחָלִים בָּאֵשׁ יַפִּלֵם בְּמַהֲמֹרוֹת בַּֽל־יָקֽוּמוּ׃ ymytv aleihem gechalim baesh yapilem bemahamorot bal-yakumuLet burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into deep pits, that they rise not up again. יב12 אִישׁ לָשׁוֹן בַּל־יִכּוֹן בָּאָרֶץ אִישׁ־חָמָס רָע יְצוּדֶנּוּ לְמַדְחֵפֹֽת׃ ish lashon bal-yikon baaretz ish-chamas ra yetzudenu lemadchefotA slanderer shall not be established in the earth; the violent and evil man shall be hunted with thrust upon thrust. יג13 ידעת כִּֽי־יַעֲשֶׂה יְיָ דִּין עָנִי מִשְׁפַּט אֶבְיֹנִֽים׃ ydt ki-yaaseh Adonai din ani mishpat evyonimI know that HaShem will maintain the cause of the poor, and the right of the needy. יד14 אַךְ צַדִּיקִים יוֹדוּ לִשְׁמֶךָ יֵשְׁבוּ יְשָׁרִים אֶת־פָּנֶֽיךָ׃ akh tzadikim yodu lishmekha yeshvu yesharim et-paneikhaSurely the righteous shall give thanks unto Thy name; the upright shall dwell in Thy presence.

א1 מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד יְיָ קְרָאתִיךָ חוּשָׁה לִּי הַאֲזִינָה קוֹלִי בְּקָרְאִי־לָֽךְ׃ mizmor ledavid Adonai keratikha chushah li haazinah koli bekari-lakhA Psalm of David. HaShem, I have called Thee; make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I call unto Thee. ב2 תִּכּוֹן תְּפִלָּתִי קְטֹרֶת לְפָנֶיךָ מַֽשְׂאַת כַּפַּי מִנְחַת־עָֽרֶב׃ tikon tefilati ketoret lefaneikha masat kapay minchat-arevLet my prayer be set forth as incense before Thee, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. ג3 שִׁיתָה יְיָ שָׁמְרָה לְפִי נִצְּרָה עַל־דַּל שְׂפָתָֽי׃ shitah Adonai shamrah lefi nitzrah al-dal sefataySet a guard, O HaShem, to my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. ד4 אַל־תַּט־לִבִּי לְדָבָר ׀ רָע לְהִתְעוֹלֵל עֲלִלוֹת ׀ בְּרֶשַׁע אֶת־אִישִׁים פֹּֽעֲלֵי־אָוֶן וּבַל־אֶלְחַם בְּמַנְעַמֵּיהֶֽם׃ al-tat-libi ledavar ׀ ra lehitolel alilot ׀ beresha et-ishim poalei-aven uval-elcham bemanameihemIncline not my heart to any evil thing, to be occupied in deeds of wickedness with men that work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties. ה5 יֶֽהֶלְמֵֽנִי־צַדִּיק ׀ חֶסֶד וְֽיוֹכִיחֵנִי שֶׁמֶן רֹאשׁ אַל־יָנִי רֹאשִׁי כִּי־עוֹד וּתְפִלָּתִי בְּרָעוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ yehelmeni-tzadik ׀ chesed veyokhicheni shemen rosh al-yani roshi ki-od utfilati beraoteihemLet the righteous smite me in kindness, and correct me; oil so choice let not my head refuse; for still is my prayer because of their wickedness. ו6 נִשְׁמְטוּ בִֽידֵי־סֶלַע שֹׁפְטֵיהֶם וְשָׁמְעוּ אֲמָרַי כִּי נָעֵֽמוּ׃ nishmtu videi-sela shofteihem veshamu amaray ki naemuTheir judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock; and they shall hear my words, that they are sweet. ז7 כְּמוֹ פֹלֵחַ וּבֹקֵעַ בָּאָרֶץ נִפְזְרוּ עֲצָמֵינוּ לְפִי שְׁאֽוֹל׃ kemo folecha uvokea baaretz nifzru atzameinu lefi sheolAs when one cleaveth and breaketh up the earth, our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth. ח8 כִּי אֵלֶיךָ ׀ יְהֹוִה אֲדֹנָי עֵינָי בְּכָה חָסִיתִי אַל־תְּעַר נַפְשִֽׁי׃ ki eleikha ׀ Adonai Adonai einay bekhah chasiti al-tear nafshiFor mine eyes are unto Thee, O GOD the L-rd; in Thee have I taken refuge, O pour not out my soul. ט9 שָׁמְרֵנִי מִידֵי פַח יָקְשׁוּ לִי וּמֹקְשׁוֹת פֹּעֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃ shamreni midei fach yakshu li umokshot poalei avenKeep me from the snare which they have laid for me, and from the gins of the workers of iniquity. י10 יִפְּלוּ בְמַכְמֹרָיו רְשָׁעִים יַחַד אָנֹכִי עַֽד־אֶעֱבֽוֹר׃ yiplu vemakhmorayv reshaim yachad anokhi ad-eevorLet the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst I withal escape.

א1 מַשְׂכִּיל לְדָוִד בִּהְיוֹתוֹ בַמְּעָרָה תְפִלָּֽה׃ maskil ledavid biheyoto vamarah tefilahMaschil of David, when he was in the cave; a Prayer. ב2 קוֹלִי אֶל־יְיָ אֶזְעָק קוֹלִי אֶל־יְיָ אֶתְחַנָּֽן׃ koli el-Adonai ezak koli el-Adonai etchananWith my voice I cry unto HaShem; with my voice I make supplication unto HaShem. ג3 אֶשְׁפֹּךְ לְפָנָיו שִׂיחִי צָרָתִי לְפָנָיו אַגִּֽיד׃ eshpokhe lefanayv sichi tzarati lefanayv agidI pour out my complaint before Him, I declare before Him my trouble; ד4 בְּהִתְעַטֵּף עָלַי ׀ רוּחִי וְאַתָּה יָדַעְתָּ נְֽתִיבָתִי בְּאֹֽרַח־זוּ אֲהַלֵּךְ טָמְנוּ פַח לִֽי׃ behitatef alay ׀ ruchi veatah yadata netivati beorach-zu ahalekhe tamnu fach liWhen my spirit fainteth within me--Thou knowest my path--in the way wherein I walk have they hidden a snare for me. ה5 הַבֵּיט יָמִין ׀ וּרְאֵה וְאֵֽין־לִי מַכִּיר אָבַד מָנוֹס מִמֶּנִּי אֵין דּוֹרֵשׁ לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃ habeit yamin ׀ ureh veein-li makir avad manos mimeni ein doresh lenafshiLook on my right hand, and see, for there is no man that knoweth me; I have no way to flee; no man careth for my soul. ו6 זָעַקְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ יְיָ אָמַרְתִּי אַתָּה מַחְסִי חֶלְקִי בְּאֶרֶץ הַֽחַיִּים׃ zaakti eleikha Adonai amarti atah machsi chelki beeretz hachayimI have cried unto Thee, O HaShem; I have said: 'Thou art my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.' ז7 הַקְשִׁיבָה ׀ אֶֽל־רִנָּתִי כִּֽי־דַלּוֹתִי מְאֹד הַצִּילֵנִי מֵרֹדְפַי כִּי אָמְצוּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ hakshivah ׀ el-rinati ki-daloti meod hatzileni merodfay ki amtzu mimeniAttend unto my cry; for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors; for they are too strong for me. ח8 הוֹצִיאָה מִמַּסְגֵּר ׀ נַפְשִׁי לְהוֹדוֹת אֶת־שְׁמֶךָ בִּי יַכְתִּרוּ צַדִּיקִים כִּי תִגְמֹל עָלָֽי׃ hotziyah mimaseger ׀ nafshi lehodot et-shemekha bi yakhtiru tzadikim ki tigmol alayBring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks unto Thy name; the righteous shall crown themselves because of me; for Thou wilt deal bountifully with me.

א1 מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד יְיָ ׀ שְׁמַע תְּפִלָּתִי הַאֲזִינָה אֶל־תַּחֲנוּנַי בֶּאֱמֻנָתְךָ עֲנֵנִי בְּצִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃ mizmor ledavid Adonai ׀ shema tefilati haazinah el-tachanunay beemunatkha aneni betzidkatekhaA Psalm of David. O HaShem, hear my prayer, give ear to my supplications; in Thy faithfulness answer me, and in Thy righteousness. ב2 וְאַל־תָּבוֹא בְמִשְׁפָּט אֶת־עַבְדֶּךָ כִּי לֹֽא־יִצְדַּק לְפָנֶיךָ כָל־חָֽי׃ veal-tavo vemishpat et-avdekha ki lo-yitzdak lefaneikha khal-chayAnd enter not into judgment with Thy servant; for in Thy sight shall no man living be justified. ג3 כִּי רָדַף אוֹיֵב ׀ נַפְשִׁי דִּכָּא לָאָרֶץ חַיָּתִי הוֹשִׁיבַנִי בְמַחֲשַׁכִּים כְּמֵתֵי עוֹלָֽם׃ ki radaf oyev ׀ nafshi dika laaretz chayati hoshivani vemachashakim kemetei olamFor the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath crushed my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. ד4 וַתִּתְעַטֵּף עָלַי רוּחִי בְּתוֹכִי יִשְׁתּוֹמֵם לִבִּֽי׃ vatiteatef alay ruchi betokhi yishtomem libiAnd my spirit fainteth within me; my heart within me is appalled. ה5 זָכַרְתִּי יָמִים ׀ מִקֶּדֶם הָגִיתִי בְכָל־פָּעֳלֶךָ בְּֽמַעֲשֵׂה יָדֶיךָ אֲשׂוֹחֵֽחַ׃ zakharti yamim ׀ mikedem hagiti vekhal-paolekha bemaaseh yadeikha asochechaI remember the days of old; I meditate on all Thy doing; I muse on the work of Thy hands. ו6 פֵּרַשְׂתִּי יָדַי אֵלֶיךָ נַפְשִׁי ׀ כְּאֶֽרֶץ־עֲיֵפָה לְךָ סֶֽלָה׃ perasti yaday eleikha nafshi ׀ keeretz-ayefah lekha selahI spread forth my hands unto Thee; my soul thirsteth after Thee, as a weary land. Selah ז7 מַהֵר עֲנֵנִי ׀ יְיָ כָּלְתָה רוּחִי אַל־תַּסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ מִמֶּנִּי וְנִמְשַׁלְתִּי עִם־יֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃ maher aneni ׀ Adonai kaletah ruchi al-taseter paneikha mimeni venimshalti im-yordei vorAnswer me speedily, O HaShem, my spirit faileth; hide not Thy face from me; lest I become like them that go down into the pit. ח8 הַשְׁמִיעֵנִי בַבֹּקֶר ׀ חַסְדֶּךָ כִּֽי־בְךָ בָטָחְתִּי הוֹדִיעֵנִי דֶּֽרֶךְ־זוּ אֵלֵךְ כִּֽי־אֵלֶיךָ נָשָׂאתִי נַפְשִֽׁי׃ hashmiyeni vaboker ׀ chasdekha ki-vekha vatachti hodiyeni derekh-zu elekh ki-eleikha nasati nafshiCause me to hear Thy lovingkindness in the morning, for in Thee do I trust; cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for unto Thee have I lifted up my soul. ט9 הַצִּילֵנִי מֵאֹיְבַי ׀ יְיָ אֵלֶיךָ כִסִּֽתִי׃ hatzileni meoyvay ׀ Adonai eleikha khisitiDeliver me from mine enemies, O HaShem; with Thee have I hidden myself. י10 לַמְּדֵנִי ׀ לַֽעֲשׂוֹת רְצוֹנֶךָ כִּֽי־אַתָּה אֱלוֹהָי רוּחֲךָ טוֹבָה תַּנְחֵנִי בְּאֶרֶץ מִישֽׁוֹר׃ lamdeni ׀ laasot retzonekha ki-atah elohay ruchakha tovah tanecheni beeretz mishorTeach me to do Thy will, for Thou art my G-d; let Thy good spirit lead me in an even land. יא11 לְמַֽעַן־שִׁמְךָ יְיָ תְּחַיֵּנִי בְּצִדְקָתְךָ ׀ תוֹצִיא מִצָּרָה נַפְשִֽׁי׃ lemaan-shimkha Adonai techayeni betzidkatkha ׀ totzi mitzarah nafshiFor Thy name's sake, O HaShem, quicken me; in Thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble. יב12 וּֽבְחַסְדְּךָ תַּצְמִית אֹיְבָי וְֽהַאֲבַדְתָּ כָּל־צֹרֲרֵי נַפְשִׁי כִּי אֲנִי עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ uvchasdkha tatzemit oyvay vehaavadta kal-tzorarei nafshi ki ani avdekhaAnd in Thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that harass my soul; for I am Thy servant.

א1 לְדָוִד ׀ בָּרוּךְ יְיָ ׀ צוּרִי הַֽמְלַמֵּד יָדַי לַקְרָב אֶצְבְּעוֹתַי לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ ledavid ׀ barukh Adonai ׀ tzuri hamlamed yaday lakrav etzbotay lamilechamahA Psalm of David. Blessed be HaShem my Rock, who traineth my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; ב2 חַסְדִּי וּמְצוּדָתִי מִשְׂגַּבִּי וּֽמְפַלְטִי לִי מָגִנִּי וּבוֹ חָסִיתִי הָרוֹדֵד עַמִּי תַחְתָּֽי׃ chasdi umtzudati misgabi umfalti li magini uvo chasiti haroded ami tachtayMy lovingkindness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I take refuge; who subdueth my people under me. ג3 יְֽהוָה מָה־אָדָם וַתֵּדָעֵהוּ בֶּן־אֱנוֹשׁ וַֽתְּחַשְּׁבֵֽהוּ׃ Adonai mah-adam vatedaehu ben-enosh vatchashvehuHaShem, what is man, that Thou takest knowledge of him? or the son of man, that Thou makest account of him? ד4 אָדָם לַהֶבֶל דָּמָה יָמָיו כְּצֵל עוֹבֵֽר׃ adam lahevel damah yamayv ketzel overMan is like unto a breath; his days are as a shadow that passeth away. ה5 יְיָ הַט־שָׁמֶיךָ וְתֵרֵד גַּע בֶּהָרִים וְֽיֶעֱשָֽׁנוּ׃ Adonai hat-shameikha vetered ga beharim veyeeshanuO HaShem, bow Thy heavens, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke. ו6 בְּרוֹק בָּרָק וּתְפִיצֵם שְׁלַח חִצֶּיךָ וּתְהֻמֵּֽם׃ berok barak utfitzem shelach chitzeikha uthumemCast forth lightning, and scatter them; send out Thine arrows, and discomfit them. ז7 שְׁלַח יָדֶיךָ מִמָּרוֹם פְּצֵנִי וְהַצִּילֵנִי מִמַּיִם רַבִּים מִיַּד בְּנֵי נֵכָֽר׃ shelach yadeikha mimarom petzeni vehatzileni mimayim rabim miyad benei nekharStretch forth Thy hands from on high; rescue me, and deliver me out of many waters, out of the hand of strangers; ח8 אֲשֶׁר פִּיהֶם דִּבֶּר־שָׁוְא וִֽימִינָם יְמִין שָֽׁקֶר׃ asher pihem diber-shav viminam yemin shakerWhose mouth speaketh falsehood, and their right hand is a right hand of lying. ט9 אֱֽלֹהִים שִׁיר חָדָשׁ אָשִׁירָה לָּךְ בְּנֵבֶל עָשׂוֹר אֲזַמְּרָה־לָּֽךְ׃ elohim shir chadash ashirah lakhe benevel asor azamrah-lakheO G-d, I will sing a new song unto Thee, upon a psaltery of ten strings will I sing praises unto Thee; י10 הַנּוֹתֵן תְּשׁוּעָה לַמְּלָכִים הַפּוֹצֶה אֶת־דָּוִד עַבְדּוֹ מֵחֶרֶב רָעָֽה׃ hanoten teshuah lamlakhim hapotzeh et-david avdo mecherev raahWho givest salvation unto kings, who rescuest David Thy servant from the hurtful sword. יא11 פְּצֵנִי וְהַצִּילֵנִי מִיַּד בְּֽנֵי־נֵכָר אֲשֶׁר פִּיהֶם דִּבֶּר־שָׁוְא וִֽימִינָם יְמִין שָֽׁקֶר׃ petzeni vehatzileni miyad benei-nekhar asher pihem diber-shav viminam yemin shakerRescue me, and deliver me out of the hand of strangers, whose mouth speaketh falsehood, and their right hand is a right hand of lying. יב12 אֲשֶׁר בָּנֵינוּ ׀ כִּנְטִעִים מְגֻדָּלִים בִּֽנְעוּרֵיהֶם בְּנוֹתֵינוּ כְזָוִיֹּת מְחֻטָּבוֹת תַּבְנִית הֵיכָֽל׃ asher baneinu ׀ kinetiim megudalim bineureihem benoteinu khezaviyot mechutavot tavenit heikhalWe whose sons are as plants grown up in their youth; whose daughters are as corner-pillars carved after the fashion of a palace; יג13 מְזָוֵינוּ מְלֵאִים מְפִיקִים מִזַּן אֶל־זַן צֹאונֵנוּ מַאֲלִיפוֹת מְרֻבָּבוֹת בְּחוּצוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ mezaveinu meleim mefikim mizan el-zan tzovnenu maalifot merubavot bechutzoteinuWhose garners are full, affording all manner of store; whose sheep increase by thousands and ten thousands in our fields; יד14 אַלּוּפֵינוּ מְֽסֻבָּלִים אֵֽין־פֶּרֶץ וְאֵין יוֹצֵאת וְאֵין צְוָחָה בִּרְחֹבֹתֵֽינוּ׃ alufeinu mesubalim ein-peretz veein yotzet veein tzevachah birechovoteinuWhose oxen are well laden; with no breach, and no going forth, and no outcry in our broad places; טו15 אַשְׁרֵי הָעָם שֶׁכָּכָה לּוֹ אַֽשְׁרֵי הָעָם שֶׁיֲהוָה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃ ashrei haam shekakhah lo ashrei haam sheyahvah elohayvHappy is the people that is in such a case. Yea, happy is the people whose G-d is HaShem.

א1 תְּהִלָּה לְדָוִד אֲרוֹמִמְךָ אֱלוֹהַי הַמֶּלֶךְ וַאֲבָרֲכָה שִׁמְךָ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶֽד׃ tehilah ledavid aromimkha elohay hamelekh vaavarakhah shimkha leolam vaedA Psalm of praise; of David. I will extol Thee, my G-d, O King; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever. ב2 בְּכָל־יוֹם אֲבָרֲכֶךָּ וַאֲהַלְלָה שִׁמְךָ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶֽד׃ bekhal-yom avarakheka vaahallah shimkha leolam vaedEvery day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever. ג3 גָּדוֹל יְיָ וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד וְלִגְדֻלָּתוֹ אֵין חֵֽקֶר׃ gadol Adonai umhulal meod veligdulato ein chekerGreat is HaShem, and highly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. ד4 דּוֹר לְדוֹר יְשַׁבַּח מַעֲשֶׂיךָ וּגְבוּרֹתֶיךָ יַגִּֽידוּ׃ dor ledor yeshabach maaseikha ugvuroteikha yagiduOne generation shall laud Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts. ה5 הֲדַר כְּבוֹד הוֹדֶךָ וְדִבְרֵי נִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָ אָשִֽׂיחָה׃ hadar kevod hodekha vedivrei nifloteikha asichahThe glorious splendour of Thy majesty, and Thy wondrous works, will I rehearse. ו6 וֶעֱזוּז נוֹרְאֹתֶיךָ יֹאמֵרוּ וגדולתיך אֲסַפְּרֶֽנָּה׃ veezuz noroteikha yomeru vgdvltykh asaprenahAnd men shall speak of the might of Thy tremendous acts; and I will tell of Thy greatness. ז7 זֵכֶר רַב־טוּבְךָ יַבִּיעוּ וְצִדְקָתְךָ יְרַנֵּֽנוּ׃ zekher rav-tuvkha yabiyu vetzidkatkha yeranenuThey shall utter the fame of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness. ח8 חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם יְיָ אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וּגְדָל־חָֽסֶד׃ chanun verachum Adonai erekh apayim ugdal-chasedHaShem is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. ט9 טוֹב־יְיָ לַכֹּל וְרַחֲמָיו עַל־כָּל־מַעֲשָֽׂיו׃ tov-Adonai lakol verachamayv al-kal-maasayvHaShem is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works. י10 יוֹדוּךָ יְיָ כָּל־מַעֲשֶׂיךָ וַחֲסִידֶיךָ יְבָרֲכֽוּכָה׃ yodukha Adonai kal-maaseikha vachasideikha yevarakhukhahAll Thy works shall praise Thee, O HaShem; and Thy saints shall bless Thee. יא11 כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתְךָ יֹאמֵרוּ וּגְבוּרָתְךָ יְדַבֵּֽרוּ׃ kevod malkhutkha yomeru ugvuratkha yedaberuThey shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy might; יב12 לְהוֹדִיעַ ׀ לִבְנֵי הָאָדָם גְּבוּרֹתָיו וּכְבוֹד הֲדַר מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃ lehodiya ׀ livnei haadam gevurotayv ukhvod hadar malkhutoTo make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glory of the majesty of His kingdom. יג13 מַֽלְכוּתְךָ מַלְכוּת כָּל־עֹֽלָמִים וּמֶֽמְשֶׁלְתְּךָ בְּכָל־דּוֹר וָדֽוֹר׃ malkhutkha malkhut kal-olamim umemsheltkha bekhal-dor vadorThy kingdom is a kingdom for all ages, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. יד14 סוֹמֵךְ יְיָ לְכָל־הַנֹּפְלִים וְזוֹקֵף לְכָל־הַכְּפוּפִֽים׃ somekh Adonai lekhal-hanofelim vezokef lekhal-hakfufimHaShem upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that are bowed down. טו15 עֵֽינֵי־כֹל אֵלֶיךָ יְשַׂבֵּרוּ וְאַתָּה נֽוֹתֵן־לָהֶם אֶת־אָכְלָם בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃ einei-khol eleikha yesaberu veatah noten-lahem et-akhlam beitoThe eyes of all wait for Thee, and Thou givest them their food in due season. טז16 פּוֹתֵחַ אֶת־יָדֶךָ וּמַשְׂבִּיעַ לְכָל־חַי רָצֽוֹן׃ potecha et-yadekha umasbiya lekhal-chay ratzonThou openest Thy hand, and satisfiest every living thing with favour. יז17 צַדִּיק יְיָ בְּכָל־דְּרָכָיו וְחָסִיד בְּכָל־מַעֲשָֽׂיו׃ tzadik Adonai bekhal-derakhayv vechasid bekhal-maasayvHaShem is righteous in all His ways, and gracious in all His works. יח18 קָרוֹב יְיָ לְכָל־קֹרְאָיו לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר יִקְרָאֻהוּ בֶאֱמֶֽת׃ karov Adonai lekhal-korayv lekhol asher yikrauhu veemetHaShem is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. יט19 רְצוֹן־יְרֵאָיו יַעֲשֶׂה וְֽאֶת־שַׁוְעָתָם יִשְׁמַע וְיוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃ retzon-yereayv yaaseh veet-shavatam yishma veyoshiyemHe will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them. כ20 שׁוֹמֵר יְיָ אֶת־כָּל־אֹהֲבָיו וְאֵת כָּל־הָרְשָׁעִים יַשְׁמִֽיד׃ shomer Adonai et-kal-ohavayv veet kal-harshaim yashmidHaShem preserveth all them that love Him; but all the wicked will He destroy. כא21 תְּהִלַּת יְיָ יְֽדַבֶּר־פִּי וִיבָרֵךְ כָּל־בָּשָׂר שֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶֽד׃ tehilat Adonai yedaber-pi vivarekh kal-basar shem kadsho leolam vaedMy mouth shall speak the praise of HaShem; and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.

א1 הַֽלְלוּ־יָהּ הַלְלִי נַפְשִׁי אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃ hallu-yah halli nafshi et-AdonaiHallelujah. Praise HaShem, O my soul. ב2 אֲהַלְלָה יְיָ בְּחַיָּי אֲזַמְּרָה לֵֽאלֹהַי בְּעוֹדִֽי׃ ahallah Adonai bechayay azamrah lelohay beodiI will praise HaShem while I live; I will sing praises unto my G-d while I have my being. ג3 אַל־תִּבְטְחוּ בִנְדִיבִים בְּבֶן־אָדָם ׀ שֶׁאֵֽין לוֹ תְשׁוּעָֽה׃ al-tivetchu vindivim beven-adam ׀ sheein lo teshuahPut not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. ד4 תֵּצֵא רוּחוֹ יָשֻׁב לְאַדְמָתוֹ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא אָבְדוּ עֶשְׁתֹּנֹתָֽיו׃ tetze rucho yashuv leadmato bayom hahu avdu eshtonotayvHis breath goeth forth, he returneth to his dust; in that very day his thoughts perish. ה5 אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁאֵל יַעֲקֹב בְּעֶזְרוֹ שִׂבְרוֹ עַל־יְיָ אֱלֹהָֽיו׃ ashrei sheel yaakov beezro sivro al-Adonai elohayvHappy is he whose help is the G-d of Jacob, whose hope is in HaShem his G-d, ו6 עֹשֶׂה ׀ שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ אֶת־הַיָּם וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּם הַשֹּׁמֵר אֱמֶת לְעוֹלָֽם׃ oseh ׀ shamayim vaaretz et-hayam veet-kal-asher-bam hashomer emet leolamWho made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is; who keepeth truth for ever; ז7 עֹשֶׂה מִשְׁפָּט ׀ לָעֲשׁוּקִים נֹתֵן לֶחֶם לָרְעֵבִים יְיָ מַתִּיר אֲסוּרִֽים׃ oseh mishpat ׀ laashukim noten lechem larevim Adonai matir asurimWho executeth justice for the oppressed; who giveth bread to the hungry. HaShem looseth the prisoners; ח8 יְיָ ׀ פֹּקֵחַ עִוְרִים יְיָ זֹקֵף כְּפוּפִים יְיָ אֹהֵב צַדִּיקִֽים׃ Adonai ׀ pokecha ivrim Adonai zokef kefufim Adonai ohev tzadikimHaShem openeth the eyes of the blind; HaShem raiseth up them that are bowed down; HaShem loveth the righteous; ט9 יְיָ ׀ שֹׁמֵר אֶת־גֵּרִים יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה יְעוֹדֵד וְדֶרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים יְעַוֵּֽת׃ Adonai ׀ shomer et-gerim yatom vealmanah yeoded vederekh reshaim yeavetHaShem preserveth the strangers; He upholdeth the fatherless and the widow; but the way of the wicked He maketh crooked. י10 יִמְלֹךְ יְיָ ׀ לְעוֹלָם אֱלֹהַיִךְ צִיּוֹן לְדֹר וָדֹר הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ yimlokh Adonai ׀ leolam elohayikh tziyon ledor vador hallu-yahHaShem will reign for ever, Thy G-d, O Zion, unto all generations. א1 הַלְלוּ יָהּ ׀ כִּי־טוֹב זַמְּרָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ כִּֽי־נָעִים נָאוָה תְהִלָּֽה׃ hallu yah ׀ ki-tov zamrah eloheinu ki-naim navah tehilahHallelujah; for it is good to sing praises unto our G-d; for it is pleasant, and praise is comely. ב2 בּוֹנֵה יְרוּשָׁלִַם יְיָ נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יְכַנֵּֽס׃ boneh yerushalaim Adonai nidchei yisrael yekhanesHaShem doth build up Jerusalem, He gathereth together the dispersed of Israel; ג3 הָרֹפֵא לִשְׁבוּרֵי לֵב וּמְחַבֵּשׁ לְעַצְּבוֹתָֽם׃ harofe lishvurei lev umchabesh leatzvotamWho healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. ד4 מוֹנֶה מִסְפָּר לַכּוֹכָבִים לְכֻלָּם שֵׁמוֹת יִקְרָֽא׃ moneh mispar lakokhavim lekhulam shemot yikraHe counteth the number of the stars; He giveth them all their names. ה5 גָּדוֹל אֲדוֹנֵינוּ וְרַב־כֹּחַ לִתְבוּנָתוֹ אֵין מִסְפָּֽר׃ gadol adoneinu verav-kocha litvunato ein misparGreat is our L-rd, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. ו6 מְעוֹדֵד עֲנָוִים יְיָ מַשְׁפִּיל רְשָׁעִים עֲדֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃ meoded anavim Adonai mashpil reshaim adei-aretzHaShem upholdeth the humble; He bringeth the wicked down to the ground. ז7 עֱנוּ לַיהוָה בְּתוֹדָה זַמְּרוּ לֵאלֹהֵינוּ בְכִנּֽוֹר׃ enu layhvah betodah zamru leloheinu vekhinorSing unto HaShem with thanksgiving, sing praises upon the harp unto our G-d; ח8 הַֽמְכַסֶּה שָׁמַיִם ׀ בְּעָבִים הַמֵּכִין לָאָרֶץ מָטָר הַמַּצְמִיחַ הָרִים חָצִֽיר׃ hamkhaseh shamayim ׀ beavim hamekhin laaretz matar hamatzemicha harim chatzirWho covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh the mountains to spring with grass. ט9 נוֹתֵן לִבְהֵמָה לַחְמָהּ לִבְנֵי עֹרֵב אֲשֶׁר יִקְרָֽאוּ׃ noten livhemah lachmah livnei orev asher yikrauHe giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry. י10 לֹא בִגְבוּרַת הַסּוּס יֶחְפָּץ לֹֽא־בְשׁוֹקֵי הָאִישׁ יִרְצֶֽה׃ lo vigvurat hasus yechpatz lo-veshokei haish yirtzehHe delighteth not in the strength of the horse; He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man. יא11 רוֹצֶה יְיָ אֶת־יְרֵאָיו אֶת־הַֽמְיַחֲלִים לְחַסְדּֽוֹ׃ rotzeh Adonai et-yereayv et-hamyachalim lechasdoHaShem taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that wait for His mercy. יב12 שַׁבְּחִי יְרוּשָׁלִַם אֶת־יְיָ הַֽלְלִי אֱלֹהַיִךְ צִיּֽוֹן׃ shabchi yerushalaim et-Adonai halli elohayikh tziyonGlorify HaShem, O Jerusalem; praise thy G-d, O Zion. יג13 כִּֽי־חִזַּק בְּרִיחֵי שְׁעָרָיִךְ בֵּרַךְ בָּנַיִךְ בְּקִרְבֵּֽךְ׃ ki-chizak berichei shearayikh berakh banayikh bekirbekheFor He hath made strong the bars of thy gates; He hath blessed thy children within thee. יד14 הַשָּׂם־גְּבוּלֵךְ שָׁלוֹם חֵלֶב חִטִּים יַשְׂבִּיעֵֽךְ׃ hasam-gevulekh shalom chelev chitim yasbiyekhHe maketh thy borders peace; He giveth thee in plenty the fat of wheat. טו15 הַשֹּׁלֵחַ אִמְרָתוֹ אָרֶץ עַד־מְהֵרָה יָרוּץ דְּבָרֽוֹ׃ hasholecha imrato aretz ad-meherah yarutz devaroHe sendeth out His commandment upon earth; His word runneth very swiftly. טז16 הַנֹּתֵן שֶׁלֶג כַּצָּמֶר כְּפוֹר כָּאֵפֶר יְפַזֵּֽר׃ hanoten sheleg katzamer kefor kaefer yefazerHe giveth snow like wool; He scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes. יז17 מַשְׁלִיךְ קַֽרְחוֹ כְפִתִּים לִפְנֵי קָרָתוֹ מִי יַעֲמֹֽד׃ mashlikh karcho khefitim lifnei karato mi yaamodHe casteth forth His ice like crumbs; who can stand before His cold? יח18 יִשְׁלַח דְּבָרוֹ וְיַמְסֵם יַשֵּׁב רוּחוֹ יִזְּלוּ־מָֽיִם׃ yishlach devaro veyamsem yashev rucho yizlu-mayimHe sendeth forth His word, and melteth them; He causeth His wind to blow, and the waters flow. יט19 מַגִּיד דברו לְיַעֲקֹב חֻקָּיו וּמִשְׁפָּטָיו לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ magid dvrv leyaakov chukayv umishpatayv leyisraelHe declareth His word unto Jacob, His statutes and His ordinances unto Israel. כ20 לֹא עָשָׂה כֵן ׀ לְכָל־גּוֹי וּמִשְׁפָּטִים בַּל־יְדָעוּם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ lo asah khen ׀ lekhal-goy umishpatim bal-yedaum hallu-yahHe hath not dealt so with any nation; and as for His ordinances, they have not known them. א1 הַלְלוּ יָהּ ׀ שִׁירוּ לַֽיהוָה שִׁיר חָדָשׁ תְּהִלָּתוֹ בִּקְהַל חֲסִידִֽים׃ hallu yah ׀ shiru layhvah shir chadash tehilato bikehal chasidimHallelujah. Sing unto HaShem a new song, and His praise in the assembly of the saints. ב2 יִשְׂמַח יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעֹשָׂיו בְּנֵֽי־צִיּוֹן יָגִילוּ בְמַלְכָּֽם׃ yismach yisrael beosayv benei-tziyon yagilu vemalkamLet Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. ג3 יְהַֽלְלוּ שְׁמוֹ בְמָחוֹל בְּתֹף וְכִנּוֹר יְזַמְּרוּ־לֽוֹ׃ yehallu shemo vemachol betof vekhinor yezamru-loLet them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. ד4 כִּֽי־רוֹצֶה יְיָ בְּעַמּוֹ יְפָאֵר עֲנָוִים בִּישׁוּעָֽה׃ ki-rotzeh Adonai beamo yefaer anavim bishuahFor HaShem taketh pleasure in His people; He adorneth the humble with salvation. ה5 יַעְלְזוּ חֲסִידִים בְּכָבוֹד יְרַנְּנוּ עַל־מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָֽם׃ yalzu chasidim bekhavod yerannu al-mishkvotamLet the saints exult in glory; let them sing for joy upon their beds. ו6 רוֹמְמוֹת אֵל בִּגְרוֹנָם וְחֶרֶב פִּֽיפִיּוֹת בְּיָדָֽם׃ rommot el bigeronam vecherev pifiyot beyadamLet the high praises of G-d be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; ז7 לַעֲשׂוֹת נְקָמָה בַּגּוֹיִם תּֽוֹכֵחֹת בַּל־אֻמִּֽים׃ laasot nekamah bagoyim tokhechot bal-umimTo execute vengeance upon the nations, and chastisements upon the peoples; ח8 לֶאְסֹר מַלְכֵיהֶם בְּזִקִּים וְנִכְבְּדֵיהֶם בְּכַבְלֵי בַרְזֶֽל׃ lesor malkheihem bezikim venikhbdeihem bekhavlei varzelTo bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; ט9 לַעֲשׂוֹת בָּהֶם ׀ מִשְׁפָּט כָּתוּב הָדָר הוּא לְכָל־חֲסִידָיו הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ laasot bahem ׀ mishpat katuv hadar hu lekhal-chasidayv hallu-yahTo execute upon them the judgment written; He is the glory of all His saints. Praise G-d in His sanctuary; praise Him in the firmament of His power. ב2 הַֽלְלוּהוּ בִגְבוּרֹתָיו הַֽלְלוּהוּ כְּרֹב גֻּדְלֽוֹ׃ halluhu vigvurotayv halluhu kerov gudeloPraise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His abundant greatness. ג3 הַֽלְלוּהוּ בְּתֵקַע שׁוֹפָר הַֽלְלוּהוּ בְּנֵבֶל וְכִנּֽוֹר׃ halluhu beteka shofar halluhu benevel vekhinorPraise Him with the blast of the horn; praise Him with the psaltery and harp. ד4 הַֽלְלוּהוּ בְתֹף וּמָחוֹל הַֽלְלוּהוּ בְּמִנִּים וְעוּגָֽב׃ halluhu vetof umachol halluhu beminim veugavPraise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and the pipe. ה5 הַֽלְלוּהוּ בְצִלְצְלֵי־שָׁמַע הַֽלְלוּהוּ בְּֽצִלְצְלֵי תְרוּעָֽה׃ halluhu vetziltzlei-shama halluhu betziltzlei teruahPraise Him with the loud-sounding cymbals; praise Him with the clanging cymbals. ו6 כֹּל הַנְּשָׁמָה תְּהַלֵּל יָהּ הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ kol hanshamah tehalel yah hallu-yahLet every thing that hath breath praise HaShem.
