א1 לְדָוִד מַשְׂכִּיל אַשְׁרֵי נְֽשׂוּי־פֶּשַׁע כְּסוּי חֲטָאָֽה׃ ledavid maskil ashrei nesuy-pesha kesuy chataahA Psalm of David. Maschil. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is pardoned. ב2 אַשְֽׁרֵי אָדָם לֹא יַחְשֹׁב יְיָ לוֹ עָוֺן וְאֵין בְּרוּחוֹ רְמִיָּה׃ ashrei adam lo yachshov Adonai lo aon veein berucho remiyahHappy is the man unto whom HaShem counteth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. ג3 כִּֽי־הֶחֱרַשְׁתִּי בָּלוּ עֲצָמָי בְּשַׁאֲגָתִי כָּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ ki-hecherashti balu atzamay beshaagati kal-hayomWhen I kept silence, my bones wore away through my groaning all the day long. ד4 כִּי ׀ יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה תִּכְבַּד עָלַי יָדֶךָ נֶהְפַּךְ לְשַׁדִּי בְּחַרְבֹנֵי קַיִץ סֶֽלָה׃ ki ׀ yomam valaylah tikhebad alay yadekha nehpakhe leshadi becharvonei kayitz selahFor day and night Thy hand was heavy upon me; my sap was turned as in the droughts of summer. Selah ה5 חַטָּאתִי אוֹדִיעֲךָ וַעֲוֺנִי לֹֽא־כִסִּיתִי אָמַרְתִּי אוֹדֶה עֲלֵי פְשָׁעַי לַיהוָה וְאַתָּה נָשָׂאתָ עֲוֺן חַטָּאתִי סֶֽלָה׃ chatati odiyakha vaaoni lo-khisiti amarti odeh alei feshaay layhvah veatah nasata aon chatati selahI acknowledged my sin unto Thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid; I said: 'I will make confession concerning my transgressions unto HaShem' --and Thou, Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah ו6 עַל־זֹאת יִתְפַּלֵּל כָּל־חָסִיד ׀ אֵלֶיךָ לְעֵת מְצֹא רַק לְשֵׁטֶף מַיִם רַבִּים אֵלָיו לֹא יַגִּֽיעוּ׃ al-zot yitpalel kal-chasid ׀ eleikha leet metzo rak leshetef mayim rabim elayv lo yagiyuFor this let every one that is godly pray unto Thee in a time when Thou mayest be found; surely, when the great waters overflow, they will not reach unto him. ז7 אַתָּה ׀ סֵתֶר לִי מִצַּר תִּצְּרֵנִי רָנֵּי פַלֵּט תְּסוֹבְבֵנִי סֶֽלָה׃ atah ׀ seter li mitzar titzereni ranei falet tesovveni selahThou art my hiding-place; Thou wilt preserve me from the adversary; with songs of deliverance Thou wilt compass me about. Selah ח8 אַשְׂכִּֽילְךָ ׀ וְֽאוֹרְךָ בְּדֶֽרֶךְ־זוּ תֵלֵךְ אִֽיעֲצָה עָלֶיךָ עֵינִֽי׃ askilkha ׀ veorkha bederekh-zu telekh iyatzah aleikha eini'I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will give counsel, Mine eye being upon thee.' ט9 אַל־תִּֽהְיוּ ׀ כְּסוּס כְּפֶרֶד אֵין הָבִין בְּמֶֽתֶג־וָרֶסֶן עֶדְיוֹ לִבְלוֹם בַּל קְרֹב אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ al-tiheyu ׀ kesus kefered ein havin bemeteg-varesen edyo livlom bal kerov eleikhaBe ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, that they come not near unto thee. י10 רַבִּים מַכְאוֹבִים לָרָשָׁע וְהַבּוֹטֵחַ בַּיהוָה חֶסֶד יְסוֹבְבֶֽנּוּ׃ rabim makhovim larasha vehabotecha bayhvah chesed yesovvenuMany are the sorrows of the wicked; but he that trusteth in HaShem, mercy compasseth him about. יא11 שִׂמְחוּ בַֽיהוָה וְגִילוּ צַדִּיקִים וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ simchu vayhvah vegilu tzadikim veharninu kal-yishrei-levBe glad in HaShem, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
