א1 מִזְמוֹר לְאָסָף אֱֽלֹהִים בָּאוּ גוֹיִם ׀ בְּֽנַחֲלָתֶךָ טִמְּאוּ אֶת־הֵיכַל קָדְשֶׁךָ שָׂמוּ אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַם לְעִיִּֽים׃ mizmor leasaf elohim bau goyim ׀ benachalatekha timu et-heikhal kadshekha samu et-yerushalaim leiyimA Psalm of Asaph. O G-d, the heathen are come into Thine inheritance; they have defiled Thy holy temple; they have made Jerusalem into heaps. ב2 נָֽתְנוּ אֶת־נִבְלַת עֲבָדֶיךָ מַאֲכָל לְעוֹף הַשָּׁמָיִם בְּשַׂר חֲסִידֶיךָ לְחַיְתוֹ־אָֽרֶץ׃ natnu et-nivlat avadeikha maakhal leof hashamayim besar chasideikha lechayto-aretzThey have given the dead bodies of Thy servants to be food unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of Thy saints unto the beasts of the earth. ג3 שָׁפְכוּ דָמָם ׀ כַּמַּיִם סְֽבִיבוֹת יְֽרוּשָׁלִָם וְאֵין קוֹבֵֽר׃ shafkhu damam ׀ kamayim sevivot yerushalaim veein koverThey have shed their blood like water round about Jerusalem, with none to bury them. ד4 הָיִינוּ חֶרְפָּה לִשְׁכֵנֵינוּ לַעַג וָקֶלֶס לִסְבִיבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ hayinu cherpah lishkheneinu laag vakeles lisvivoteinuWe are become a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us. ה5 עַד־מָה יְיָ תֶּאֱנַף לָנֶצַח תִּבְעַר כְּמוֹ־אֵשׁ קִנְאָתֶֽךָ׃ ad-mah Adonai teenaf lanetzach tivear kemo-esh kinatekhaHow long, O HaShem, wilt Thou be angry for ever? How long will Thy jealousy burn like fire? ו6 שְׁפֹךְ חֲמָתְךָ אֶֽל־הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יְדָעוּךָ וְעַל מַמְלָכוֹת אֲשֶׁר בְּשִׁמְךָ לֹא קָרָֽאוּ׃ shefokh chamatkha el-hagoyim asher lo-yedaukha veal mamlakhot asher beshimkha lo karauPour out Thy wrath upon the nations that know Thee not, and upon the kingdoms that call not upon Thy name. ז7 כִּי אָכַל אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹב וְֽאֶת־נָוֵהוּ הֵשַֽׁמּוּ׃ ki akhal et-yaakov veet-navehu heshamuFor they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his habitation. ח8 אַֽל־תִּזְכָּר־לָנוּ עֲוֺנֹת רִאשֹׁנִים מַהֵר יְקַדְּמוּנוּ רַחֲמֶיךָ כִּי דַלּוֹנוּ מְאֹֽד׃ al-tizekar-lanu aonot rishonim maher yekadmunu rachameikha ki dalonu meodRemember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers; let Thy compassions speedily come to meet us; for we are brought very low. ט9 עָזְרֵנוּ ׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעֵנוּ עַל־דְּבַר כְּבֽוֹד־שְׁמֶךָ וְהַצִּילֵנוּ וְכַפֵּר עַל־חַטֹּאתֵינוּ לְמַעַן שְׁמֶֽךָ׃ azrenu ׀ Elohei yishenu al-devar kevod-shemekha vehatzilenu vekhaper al-chatoteinu lemaan shemekhaHelp us, O G-d of our salvation, for the sake of the glory of Thy name; and deliver us, and forgive our sins, for Thy name's sake. י10 לָמָּה ׀ יֹאמְרוּ הַגּוֹיִם אַיֵּה אֱֽלֹהֵיהֶם יִוָּדַע בגיים לְעֵינֵינוּ נִקְמַת דַּֽם־עֲבָדֶיךָ הַשָּׁפֽוּךְ׃ lamah ׀ yomru hagoyim ayeh eloheihem yivada vgyym leeineinu nikmat dam-avadeikha hashafukhWherefore should the nations say: 'Where is their G-d?' Let the avenging of Thy servants' blood that is shed be made known among the nations in our sight. יא11 תָּבוֹא לְפָנֶיךָ אֶנְקַת אָסִיר כְּגֹדֶל זְרוֹעֲךָ הוֹתֵר בְּנֵי תְמוּתָֽה׃ tavo lefaneikha enkat asir kegodel zeroakha hoter benei temutahLet the groaning of the prisoner come before Thee; according to the greatness of Thy power set free those that are appointed to death; יב12 וְהָשֵׁב לִשְׁכֵנֵינוּ שִׁבְעָתַיִם אֶל־חֵיקָם חֶרְפָּתָם אֲשֶׁר חֵרְפוּךָ אֲדֹנָֽי׃ vehashev lishkheneinu shivatayim el-cheikam cherpatam asher cherfukha adonayAnd render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached Thee, O L-rd. יג13 וַאֲנַחְנוּ עַמְּךָ ׀ וְצֹאן מַרְעִיתֶךָ נוֹדֶה לְּךָ לְעוֹלָם לְדֹר וָדֹר נְסַפֵּר תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃ vaanachnu amkha ׀ vetzon maritekha nodeh lekha leolam ledor vador nesaper tehilatekhaSo we that are Thy people and the flock of Thy pasture will give Thee thanks for ever; we will tell of Thy praise to all generations.

א1 לַמְנַצֵּחַ אֶל־שֹׁשַׁנִּים עֵדוּת לְאָסָף מִזְמֽוֹר׃ lamnatzecha el-shoshanim edut leasaf mizmorFor the Leader; upon Shoshannim. A testimony. A Psalm of Asaph. ב2 רֹעֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל ׀ הַאֲזִינָה נֹהֵג כַּצֹּאן יוֹסֵף יֹשֵׁב הַכְּרוּבִים הוֹפִֽיעָה׃ roeh yisrael ׀ haazinah noheg katzon yosef yoshev hakruvim hofiyahGive ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; Thou that art enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth. ג3 לִפְנֵי אֶפְרַיִם ׀ וּבִנְיָמִן וּמְנַשֶּׁה עוֹרְרָה אֶת־גְּבֽוּרָתֶךָ וּלְכָה לִישֻׁעָתָה לָּֽנוּ׃ lifnei efrayim ׀ uvinyamin umnasheh orrah et-gevuratekha ulkhah lishuatah lanuBefore Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Thy might, and come to save us. ד4 אֱלֹהִים הֲשִׁיבֵנוּ וְהָאֵר פָּנֶיךָ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ Elohim hashivenu vehaer paneikha venivasheahO G-d, restore us; and cause Thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. ה5 יְיָ אֱלֹהִים צְבָאוֹת עַד־מָתַי עָשַׁנְתָּ בִּתְפִלַּת עַמֶּֽךָ׃ Adonai Elohim tzevaot ad-matay ashanta bitefilat amekhaO HaShem G-d of hosts, how long wilt Thou be angry against the prayer of Thy people? ו6 הֶאֱכַלְתָּם לֶחֶם דִּמְעָה וַתַּשְׁקֵמוֹ בִּדְמָעוֹת שָׁלִֽישׁ׃ heekhaltam lechem dimeah vatashekemo bidemaot shalishThou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure. ז7 תְּשִׂימֵנוּ מָדוֹן לִשְׁכֵנֵינוּ וְאֹיְבֵינוּ יִלְעֲגוּ־לָֽמוֹ׃ tesimenu madon lishkheneinu veoyveinu yilagu-lamoThou makest us a strife unto our neighbours; and our enemies mock as they please. ח8 אֱלֹהִים צְבָאוֹת הֲשִׁיבֵנוּ וְהָאֵר פָּנֶיךָ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ Elohim tzevaot hashivenu vehaer paneikha venivasheahO G-d of hosts, restore us; and cause Thy face to shine, and we shall be saved. ט9 גֶּפֶן מִמִּצְרַיִם תַּסִּיעַ תְּגָרֵשׁ גּוֹיִם וַתִּטָּעֶֽהָ׃ gefen mimitzerayim tasiya tegaresh goyim vatitaehaThou didst pluck up a vine out of Egypt; Thou didst drive out the nations, and didst plant it. י10 פִּנִּיתָ לְפָנֶיהָ וַתַּשְׁרֵשׁ שָׁרָשֶׁיהָ וַתְּמַלֵּא־אָֽרֶץ׃ pinita lefaneiha vatasheresh sharasheiha vatmale-aretzThou didst clear a place before it, and it took deep root, and filled the land. יא11 כָּסּוּ הָרִים צִלָּהּ וַעֲנָפֶיהָ אַֽרְזֵי־אֵֽל׃ kasu harim tzilah vaanafeiha arzei-elThe mountains were covered with the shadow of it, and the mighty cedars with the boughs thereof. יב12 תְּשַׁלַּח קְצִירֶהָ עַד־יָם וְאֶל־נָהָר יֽוֹנְקוֹתֶֽיהָ׃ teshalach ketzireha ad-yam veel-nahar yonkoteihaShe sent out her branches unto the sea, and her shoots unto the River. יג13 לָמָּה פָּרַצְתָּ גְדֵרֶיהָ וְאָרוּהָ כָּל־עֹבְרֵי דָֽרֶךְ׃ lamah paratzta gedereiha vearuha kal-ovrei darekhWhy hast Thou broken down her fences, so that all they that pass by the way do pluck her? יד14 יְכַרְסְמֶנָּֽה חֲזִיר מִיָּעַר וְזִיז שָׂדַי יִרְעֶֽנָּה׃ yekharsmenah chazir miyaar veziz saday yirenahThe boar out of the wood doth ravage it, that which moveth in the field feedeth on it. טו15 אֱלֹהִים צְבָאוֹת שֽׁוּב־נָא הַבֵּט מִשָּׁמַיִם וּרְאֵה וּפְקֹד גֶּפֶן זֹֽאת׃ Elohim tzevaot shuv-na habet mishamayim ureh ufkod gefen zotO G-d of hosts, return, we beseech Thee; look from heaven, and behold, and be mindful of this vine, טז16 וְכַנָּה אֲשֶׁר־נָטְעָה יְמִינֶךָ וְעַל־בֵּן אִמַּצְתָּה לָּֽךְ׃ vekhanah asher-natah yeminekha veal-ben imatzetah lakheAnd of the stock which Thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that Thou madest strong for Thyself. יז17 שְׂרֻפָה בָאֵשׁ כְּסוּחָה מִגַּעֲרַת פָּנֶיךָ יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃ serufah vaesh kesuchah migaarat paneikha yoveduIt is burned with fire, it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of Thy countenance. יח18 תְּֽהִי־יָדְךָ עַל־אִישׁ יְמִינֶךָ עַל־בֶּן־אָדָם אִמַּצְתָּ לָּֽךְ׃ tehi-yadkha al-ish yeminekha al-ben-adam imatzeta lakheLet Thy hand be upon the man of Thy right hand, upon the son of man whom Thou madest strong for Thyself. יט19 וְלֹא־נָסוֹג מִמֶּךָּ תְּחַיֵּנוּ וּבְשִׁמְךָ נִקְרָֽא׃ velo-nasog mimeka techayenu uvshimkha nikraSo shall we not turn back from Thee; quicken Thou us, and we will call upon Thy name. כ20 יְיָ אֱלֹהִים צְבָאוֹת הֲשִׁיבֵנוּ הָאֵר פָּנֶיךָ וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ Adonai Elohim tzevaot hashivenu haer paneikha venivasheahO HaShem G-d of hosts, restore us; cause Thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.

א1 לַמְנַצֵּחַ ׀ עַֽל־הַגִּתִּית לְאָסָֽף׃ lamnatzecha ׀ al-hagitit leasafFor the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph. ב2 הַרְנִינוּ לֵאלֹהִים עוּזֵּנוּ הָרִיעוּ לֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹֽב׃ harninu lelohim uzenu hariyu lelohei yaakovSing aloud unto G-d our strength; shout unto the G-d of Jacob. ג3 שְֽׂאוּ־זִמְרָה וּתְנוּ־תֹף כִּנּוֹר נָעִים עִם־נָֽבֶל׃ seu-zimrah utnu-tof kinor naim im-navelTake up the melody, and sound the timbrel, the sweet harp with the psaltery. ד4 תִּקְעוּ בַחֹדֶשׁ שׁוֹפָר בַּכֵּסֶה לְיוֹם חַגֵּֽנוּ׃ tikeu vachodesh shofar bakeseh leyom chagenuBlow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon for our feast-day. ה5 כִּי חֹק לְיִשְׂרָאֵל הוּא מִשְׁפָּט לֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹֽב׃ ki chok leyisrael hu mishpat lelohei yaakovFor it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the G-d of Jacob. ו6 עֵדוּת ׀ בִּֽיהוֹסֵף שָׂמוֹ בְּצֵאתוֹ עַל־אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם שְׂפַת לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי אֶשְׁמָֽע׃ edut ׀ bihosef samo betzeto al-eretz mitzrayim sefat lo-yadati eshmaHe appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, when He went forth against the land of Egypt. The speech of one that I knew not did I hear: ז7 הֲסִירוֹתִי מִסֵּבֶל שִׁכְמוֹ כַּפָּיו מִדּוּד תַּעֲבֹֽרְנָה׃ hasiroti misevel shikhmo kapayv midud taavornah'I removed his shoulder from the burden; His hands were freed from the basket. ח8 בַּצָּרָה קָרָאתָ וָאֲחַלְּצֶךָּ אֶעֶנְךָ בְּסֵתֶר רַעַם אֶבְחָֽנְךָ עַל־מֵי מְרִיבָה סֶֽלָה׃ batzarah karata vaachaltzeka eenkha beseter raam evchankha al-mei merivah selahThou didst call in trouble, and I rescued thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah ט9 שְׁמַע עַמִּי וְאָעִידָה בָּךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל אִם־תִּֽשְׁמַֽע־לִֽי׃ shema ami veaidah bakhe yisrael im-tishema-liHear, O My people, and I will admonish thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto Me! י10 לֹֽא־יִהְיֶה בְךָ אֵל זָר וְלֹא תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לְאֵל נֵכָֽר׃ lo-yihyeh vekha el zar velo tishtachaveh leel nekharThere shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any foreign god. יא11 אָנֹכִי ׀ יְיָ אֱלֹהֶיךָ הַֽמַּעַלְךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם הַרְחֶב־פִּיךָ וַאֲמַלְאֵֽהוּ׃ anokhi ׀ Adonai eloheikha hamaalkha meeretz mitzrayim harchev-pikha vaamalehuI am HaShem thy G-d, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. יב12 וְלֹא־שָׁמַע עַמִּי לְקוֹלִי וְיִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא־אָבָה לִֽי׃ velo-shama ami lekoli veyisrael lo-avah liBut My people hearkened not to My voice; and Israel would none of Me. יג13 וָֽאֲשַׁלְּחֵהוּ בִּשְׁרִירוּת לִבָּם יֵלְכוּ בְּֽמוֹעֲצוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ vaashalchehu bisherirut libam yelkhu bemoatzoteihemSo I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels. יד14 לוּ עַמִּי שֹׁמֵעַֽ לִי יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּדְרָכַי יְהַלֵּֽכוּ׃ lu ami shomea li yisrael biderakhay yehalekhuOh that My people would hearken unto Me, that Israel would walk in My ways! טו15 כִּמְעַט אוֹיְבֵיהֶם אַכְנִיעַ וְעַל צָרֵיהֶם אָשִׁיב יָדִֽי׃ kimeat oyveihem akhniya veal tzareihem ashiv yadiI would soon subdue their enemies, and turn My hand against their adversaries. טז16 מְשַׂנְאֵי יְיָ יְכַֽחֲשׁוּ־לוֹ וִיהִי עִתָּם לְעוֹלָֽם׃ mesanei Adonai yekhachashu-lo vihi itam leolamThe haters of HaShem should dwindle away before Him; and their punishment should endure for ever. יז17 וַֽיַּאֲכִילֵהוּ מֵחֵלֶב חִטָּה וּמִצּוּר דְּבַשׁ אַשְׂבִּיעֶֽךָ׃ vayaakhilehu mechelev chitah umitzur devash asbiyekhaThey should also be fed with the fat of wheat; and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.'

א1 מִזְמוֹר לְאָסָף אֱֽלֹהִים נִצָּב בַּעֲדַת־אֵל בְּקֶרֶב אֱלֹהִים יִשְׁפֹּֽט׃ mizmor leasaf elohim nitzav baadat-el bekerev Elohim yishpotA Psalm of Asaph. G-d standeth in the congregation of G-d; in the midst of the judges He judgeth: ב2 עַד־מָתַי תִּשְׁפְּטוּ־עָוֶל וּפְנֵי רְשָׁעִים תִּשְׂאוּ־סֶֽלָה׃ ad-matay tisheptu-avel ufnei reshaim tiseu-selah'How long will ye judge unjustly, and respect the persons of the wicked? Selah ג3 שִׁפְטוּ־דַל וְיָתוֹם עָנִי וָרָשׁ הַצְדִּֽיקוּ׃ shiftu-dal veyatom ani varash hatzdikuJudge the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute. ד4 פַּלְּטוּ־דַל וְאֶבְיוֹן מִיַּד רְשָׁעִים הַצִּֽילוּ׃ paletu-dal veevyon miyad reshaim hatziluRescue the poor and needy; deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. ה5 לֹא יָֽדְעוּ ׀ וְלֹא יָבִינוּ בַּחֲשֵׁכָה יִתְהַלָּכוּ יִמּוֹטוּ כָּל־מוֹסְדֵי אָֽרֶץ׃ lo yadu ׀ velo yavinu bachashekhah yithalakhu yimotu kal-mosdei aretzThey know not, neither do they understand; they go about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are moved. ו6 אֲֽנִי־אָמַרְתִּי אֱלֹהִים אַתֶּם וּבְנֵי עֶלְיוֹן כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃ ani-amarti Elohim atem uvnei elyon kulekhemI said: Ye are godlike beings, and all of you sons of the Most High. ז7 אָכֵן כְּאָדָם תְּמוּתוּן וּכְאַחַד הַשָּׂרִים תִּפֹּֽלוּ׃ akhen keadam temutun ukhachad hasarim tipoluNevertheless ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.' ח8 קוּמָה אֱלֹהִים שָׁפְטָה הָאָרֶץ כִּֽי־אַתָּה תִנְחַל בְּכָל־הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ kumah Elohim shaftah haaretz ki-atah tinchal bekhal-hagoyimArise, O G-d, judge the earth; for Thou shalt possess all nations.
