א1 לַמְנַצֵּחַ ׀ לִבְנֵי־קֹרַח מִזְמֽוֹר׃ lamnatzecha ׀ livnei-korach mizmorFor the Leader; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. ב2 שִׁמְעוּ־זֹאת כָּל־הָֽעַמִּים הַאֲזִינוּ כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי חָֽלֶד׃ shimu-zot kal-haamim haazinu kal-yoshvei chaledHear this, all ye peoples; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world, ג3 גַּם־בְּנֵי אָדָם גַּם־בְּנֵי־אִישׁ יַחַד עָשִׁיר וְאֶבְיֽוֹן׃ gam-benei adam gam-benei-ish yachad ashir veevyonBoth low and high, rich and poor together. ד4 פִּי יְדַבֵּר חָכְמוֹת וְהָגוּת לִבִּי תְבוּנֽוֹת׃ pi yedaber chakhmot vehagut libi tevunotMy mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding. ה5 אַטֶּה לְמָשָׁל אָזְנִי אֶפְתַּח בְּכִנּוֹר חִידָתִֽי׃ ateh lemashal azni eftach bekhinor chidatiI will incline mine ear to a parable; I will open my dark saying upon the harp. ו6 לָמָּה אִירָא בִּימֵי רָע עֲוֺן עֲקֵבַי יְסוּבֵּֽנִי׃ lamah ira bimei ra aon akevay yesubeniWherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my supplanters compasseth me about, ז7 הַבֹּטְחִים עַל־חֵילָם וּבְרֹב עָשְׁרָם יִתְהַלָּֽלוּ׃ habotechim al-cheilam uvrov ashram yithalaluOf them that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches? ח8 אָח לֹא־פָדֹה יִפְדֶּה אִישׁ לֹא־יִתֵּן לֵאלֹהִים כָּפְרֽוֹ׃ ach lo-fadoh yifdeh ish lo-yiten lelohim kaferoNo man can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to G-d a ransom for him-- ט9 וְיֵקַר פִּדְיוֹן נַפְשָׁם וְחָדַל לְעוֹלָֽם׃ veyekar pideyon nafsham vechadal leolamFor too costly is the redemption of their soul, and must be let alone for ever-- י10 וִֽיחִי־עוֹד לָנֶצַח לֹא יִרְאֶה הַשָּֽׁחַת׃ vichi-od lanetzach lo yireh hashachatThat he should still live alway, that he should not see the pit. יא11 כִּי יִרְאֶה ׀ חֲכָמִים יָמוּתוּ יַחַד כְּסִיל וָבַעַר יֹאבֵדוּ וְעָזְבוּ לַאֲחֵרִים חֵילָֽם׃ ki yireh ׀ chakhamim yamutu yachad kesil vavaar yovedu veazvu laacherim cheilamFor he seeth that wise men die, the fool and the brutish together perish, and leave their wealth to others. יב12 קִרְבָּם בָּתֵּימוֹ ׀ לְֽעוֹלָם מִשְׁכְּנֹתָם לְדֹר וָדֹר קָֽרְאוּ בִשְׁמוֹתָם עֲלֵי אֲדָמֽוֹת׃ kirbam bateimo ׀ leolam mishknotam ledor vador karu vishmotam alei adamotTheir inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling-places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. יג13 וְאָדָם בִּיקָר בַּל־יָלִין נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמֽוּ׃ veadam bikar bal-yalin nimshal kabehemot nidmuBut man abideth not in honour; he is like the beasts that perish. יד14 זֶה דַרְכָּם כֵּסֶל לָמוֹ וְאַחֲרֵיהֶם ׀ בְּפִיהֶם יִרְצוּ סֶֽלָה׃ zeh darkam kesel lamo veachareihem ׀ befihem yirtzu selahThis is the way of them that are foolish, and of those who after them approve their sayings. Selah טו15 כַּצֹּאן ׀ לִֽשְׁאוֹל שַׁתּוּ מָוֶת יִרְעֵם וַיִּרְדּוּ בָם יְשָׁרִים ׀ לַבֹּקֶר וצירם לְבַלּוֹת שְׁאוֹל מִזְּבֻל לֽוֹ׃ katzon ׀ lishol shatu mavet yirem vayiredu vam yesharim ׀ laboker vtzyrm levalot sheol mizvul loLike sheep they are appointed for the nether-world; death shall be their shepherd; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their form shall be for the nether-world to wear away, that there be no habitation for it. טז16 אַךְ־אֱלֹהִים יִפְדֶּה נַפְשִׁי מִֽיַּד־שְׁאוֹל כִּי יִקָּחֵנִי סֶֽלָה׃ akh-Elohim yifdeh nafshi miyad-sheol ki yikacheni selahBut G-d will redeem my soul from the power of the nether-world; for He shall receive me. Selah יז17 אַל־תִּירָא כִּֽי־יַעֲשִׁר אִישׁ כִּֽי־יִרְבֶּה כְּבוֹד בֵּיתֽוֹ׃ al-tira ki-yaashir ish ki-yirbeh kevod beitoBe not thou afraid when one waxeth rich, when the wealth of his house is increased; יח18 כִּי לֹא בְמוֹתוֹ יִקַּח הַכֹּל לֹא־יֵרֵד אַחֲרָיו כְּבוֹדֽוֹ׃ ki lo vemoto yikach hakol lo-yered acharayv kevodoFor when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; his wealth shall not descend after him. יט19 כִּֽי־נַפְשׁוֹ בְּחַיָּיו יְבָרֵךְ וְיוֹדֻךָ כִּי־תֵיטִיב לָֽךְ׃ ki-nafsho bechayayv yevarekh veyodukha ki-teitiv lakhThough while he lived he blessed his soul: 'Men will praise thee, when thou shalt do well to thyself'; כ20 תָּבוֹא עַד־דּוֹר אֲבוֹתָיו עַד־נֵצַח לֹא יִרְאוּ־אֽוֹר׃ tavo ad-dor avotayv ad-netzach lo yiru-orIt shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see the light. כא21 אָדָם בִּיקָר וְלֹא יָבִין נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמֽוּ׃ adam bikar velo yavin nimshal kabehemot nidmuMan that is in honour understandeth not; he is like the beasts that perish.
