א1 מִזְמוֹר שִׁיר־חֲנֻכַּת הַבַּיִת לְדָוִֽד׃ mizmor shir-chanukat habayit ledavidA Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House; of David. ב2 אֲרוֹמִמְךָ יְיָ כִּי דִלִּיתָנִי וְלֹא־שִׂמַּחְתָּ אֹיְבַי לִֽי׃ aromimkha Adonai ki dilitani velo-simacheta oyvay liI will extol thee, O HaShem, for Thou hast raised me up, and hast not suffered mine enemies to rejoice over me. ג3 יְיָ אֱלֹהָי שִׁוַּעְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ וַתִּרְפָּאֵֽנִי׃ Adonai elohay shivaeti eleikha vatirepaeniO HaShem my G-d, I cried unto Thee, and Thou didst heal me; ד4 יְֽהוָה הֶֽעֱלִיתָ מִן־שְׁאוֹל נַפְשִׁי חִיִּיתַנִי מיורדי־בֽוֹר׃ Adonai heelita min-sheol nafshi chiyitani myvrdy-vorO HaShem, Thou broughtest up my soul from the nether-world; Thou didst keep me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. ה5 זַמְּרוּ לַיהוָה חֲסִידָיו וְהוֹדוּ לְזֵכֶר קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃ zamru layhvah chasidayv vehodu lezekher kadshoSing praise unto HaShem, O ye His godly ones, and give thanks to His holy name. ו6 כִּי רֶגַע ׀ בְּאַפּוֹ חַיִּים בִּרְצוֹנוֹ בָּעֶרֶב יָלִין בֶּכִי וְלַבֹּקֶר רִנָּֽה׃ ki rega ׀ beapo chayim biretzono baerev yalin bekhi velaboker rinahFor His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for a life-time; weeping may tarry for the night, but joy cometh in the morning. ז7 וַאֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי בְשַׁלְוִי בַּל־אֶמּוֹט לְעוֹלָֽם׃ vaani amarti veshalvi bal-emot leolamNow I had said in my security: 'I shall never be moved.' ח8 יְֽהוָה בִּרְצוֹנְךָ הֶעֱמַדְתָּה לְֽהַרְרִי עֹז הִסְתַּרְתָּ פָנֶיךָ הָיִיתִי נִבְהָֽל׃ Adonai biretzonkha heemadtah leharri oz histareta faneikha hayiti nivhalThou hadst established, O HaShem, in Thy favour my mountain as a stronghold--Thou didst hide Thy face; I was affrighted. ט9 אֵלֶיךָ יְיָ אֶקְרָא וְאֶל־אֲדֹנָי אֶתְחַנָּֽן׃ eleikha Adonai ekra veel-Adonai etchananUnto Thee, O HaShem, did I call, and unto HaShem I made supplication: י10 מַה־בֶּצַע בְּדָמִי בְּרִדְתִּי אֶל־שָׁחַת הֲיוֹדְךָ עָפָר הֲיַגִּיד אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ mah-betza bedami beridti el-shachat hayodkha afar hayagid amitekha'What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise Thee? shall it declare Thy truth? יא11 שְׁמַע־יְיָ וְחָנֵּנִי יְיָ הֱֽיֵה־עֹזֵר לִֽי׃ shema-Adonai vechaneni Adonai heyeh-ozer liHear, O HaShem, and be gracious unto me; HaShem, be Thou my helper.' יב12 הָפַכְתָּ מִסְפְּדִי לְמָחוֹל לִי פִּתַּחְתָּ שַׂקִּי וַֽתְּאַזְּרֵנִי שִׂמְחָֽה׃ hafakhta mispdi lemachol li pitacheta saki vatazreni simchahThou didst turn for me my mourning into dancing; Thou didst loose my sackcloth, and gird me with gladness; יג13 לְמַעַן ׀ יְזַמֶּרְךָ כָבוֹד וְלֹא יִדֹּם יְיָ אֱלֹהַי לְעוֹלָם אוֹדֶֽךָּ׃ lemaan ׀ yezamerekha khavod velo yidom Adonai elohay leolam odekaSo that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent; O HaShem my G-d, I will give thanks unto Thee for ever.

A Psalm of David. ב2 בְּךָ יְיָ חָסִיתִי אַל־אֵבוֹשָׁה לְעוֹלָם בְּצִדְקָתְךָ פַלְּטֵֽנִי׃ bekha Adonai chasiti al-evoshah leolam betzidkatkha falteniIn thee, O HaShem, have I taken refuge; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in Thy righteousness. ג3 הַטֵּה אֵלַי ׀ אָזְנְךָ מְהֵרָה הַצִּילֵנִי הֱיֵה לִי ׀ לְֽצוּר־מָעוֹז לְבֵית מְצוּדוֹת לְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃ hateh elay ׀ aznkha meherah hatzileni heyeh li ׀ letzur-maoz leveit metzudot lehoshiyeniIncline Thine ear unto me, deliver me speedily; be Thou to me a rock of refuge, even a fortress of defence, to save me. ד4 כִּֽי־סַלְעִי וּמְצוּדָתִי אָתָּה וּלְמַעַן שִׁמְךָ תַּֽנְחֵנִי וּֽתְנַהֲלֵֽנִי׃ ki-sali umtzudati atah ulmaan shimkha tanecheni utnahaleniFor Thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for Thy name's sake lead me and guide me. ה5 תּוֹצִיאֵנִי מֵרֶשֶׁת זוּ טָמְנוּ לִי כִּֽי־אַתָּה מָֽעוּזִּֽי׃ totziyeni mereshet zu tamnu li ki-atah mauziBring me forth out of the net that they have hidden for me; for Thou art my stronghold. ו6 בְּיָדְךָ אַפְקִיד רוּחִי פָּדִיתָה אוֹתִי יְיָ אֵל אֱמֶֽת׃ beyadkha afkid ruchi paditah oti Adonai el emetInto Thy hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast redeemed me, O HaShem, Thou G-d of truth. ז7 שָׂנֵאתִי הַשֹּׁמְרִים הַבְלֵי־שָׁוְא וַאֲנִי אֶל־יְיָ בָּטָֽחְתִּי׃ saneti hashomerim havlei-shav vaani el-Adonai batachtiI hate them that regard lying vanities; but I trust in HaShem. ח8 אָגִילָה וְאֶשְׂמְחָה בְּחַסְדֶּךָ אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתָ אֶת־עָנְיִי יָדַעְתָּ בְּצָרוֹת נַפְשִֽׁי׃ agilah veesmchah bechasdekha asher raita et-anyi yadata betzarot nafshiI will be glad and rejoice in Thy lovingkindness; for Thou hast seen mine affliction, Thou hast taken cognizance of the troubles of my soul, ט9 וְלֹא הִסְגַּרְתַּנִי בְּיַד־אוֹיֵב הֶֽעֱמַדְתָּ בַמֶּרְחָב רַגְלָֽי׃ velo hisgaretani beyad-oyev heemadta vamerechav raglayAnd Thou hast not given me over into the hand of the enemy; Thou hast set my feet in a broad place. י10 חָנֵּנִי יְיָ כִּי צַר־לִי עָשְׁשָׁה בְכַעַס עֵינִי נַפְשִׁי וּבִטְנִֽי׃ chaneni Adonai ki tzar-li ashshah vekhaas eini nafshi uvitniBe gracious unto me, O HaShem, for I am in distress; mine eye wasteth away with vexation, yea, my soul and my body. יא11 כִּי כָלוּ בְיָגוֹן חַיַּי וּשְׁנוֹתַי בַּאֲנָחָה כָּשַׁל בַּעֲוֺנִי כֹחִי וַעֲצָמַי עָשֵֽׁשׁוּ׃ ki khalu veyagon chayay ushnotay baanachah kashal baaoni khochi vaatzamay asheshuFor my life is spent in sorrow, and my years in sighing; my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are wasted away. יב12 מִכָּל־צֹרְרַי הָיִיתִי חֶרְפָּה וְלִשֲׁכֵנַי ׀ מְאֹד וּפַחַד לִֽמְיֻדָּעָי רֹאַי בַּחוּץ נָדְדוּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ mikal-tzorray hayiti cherpah velishakhenay ׀ meod ufachad limyudaay roay bachutz naddu mimeniBecause of all mine adversaries I am become a reproach, yea, unto my neighbours exceedingly, and a dread to mine acquaintance; they that see me without flee from me. יג13 נִשְׁכַּחְתִּי כְּמֵת מִלֵּב הָיִיתִי כִּכְלִי אֹבֵֽד׃ nishkacheti kemet milev hayiti kikheli ovedI am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a useless vessel. יד14 כִּי שָׁמַעְתִּי ׀ דִּבַּת רַבִּים מָגוֹר מִסָּבִיב בְּהִוָּסְדָם יַחַד עָלַי לָקַחַת נַפְשִׁי זָמָֽמוּ׃ ki shamati ׀ dibat rabim magor misaviv behivasedam yachad alay lakachat nafshi zamamuFor I have heard the whispering of many, terror on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. טו15 וַאֲנִי ׀ עָלֶיךָ בָטַחְתִּי יְיָ אָמַרְתִּי אֱלֹהַי אָֽתָּה׃ vaani ׀ aleikha vatachti Adonai amarti elohay atahBut as for me, I have trusted in Thee, O HaShem; I have said: 'Thou art my G-d.' טז16 בְּיָדְךָ עִתֹּתָי הַצִּילֵנִי מִיַּד־אוֹיְבַי וּמֵרֹדְפָֽי׃ beyadkha itotay hatzileni miyad-oyvay umerodfayMy times are in Thy hand; deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. יז17 הָאִירָה פָנֶיךָ עַל־עַבְדֶּךָ הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי בְחַסְדֶּֽךָ׃ hairah faneikha al-avdekha hoshiyeni vechasdekhaMake Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; save me in Thy lovingkindness. יח18 יְֽהוָה אַל־אֵבוֹשָׁה כִּי קְרָאתִיךָ יֵבֹשׁוּ רְשָׁעִים יִדְּמוּ לִשְׁאֽוֹל׃ Adonai al-evoshah ki keratikha yevoshu reshaim yidmu lisholO HaShem, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon Thee; let the wicked be ashamed, let them be put to silence in the nether-world. יט19 תֵּאָלַמְנָה שִׂפְתֵי שָׁקֶר הַדֹּבְרוֹת עַל־צַדִּיק עָתָק בְּגַאֲוָה וָבֽוּז׃ tealamnah siftei shaker hadoverot al-tzadik atak begaavah vavuzLet the lying lips be dumb, which speak arrogantly against the righteous, with pride and contempt. כ20 מָה רַֽב־טוּבְךָ אֲשֶׁר־צָפַנְתָּ לִּֽירֵאֶיךָ פָּעַלְתָּ לַחֹסִים בָּךְ נֶגֶד בְּנֵי אָדָם׃ mah rav-tuvkha asher-tzafanta lireeikha paalta lachosim bakhe neged benei adamOh how abundant is Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee; which Thou hast wrought for them that take their refuge in Thee, in the sight of the sons of men! כא21 תַּסְתִּירֵם ׀ בְּסֵתֶר פָּנֶיךָ מֵֽרֻכְסֵי אִישׁ תִּצְפְּנֵם בְּסֻכָּה מֵרִיב לְשֹׁנֽוֹת׃ tasetirem ׀ beseter paneikha merukhsei ish titzepnem besukah meriv leshonotThou hidest them in the covert of Thy presence from the plottings of man; Thou concealest them in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. כב22 בָּרוּךְ יְיָ כִּי הִפְלִיא חַסְדּוֹ לִי בְּעִיר מָצֽוֹר׃ barukh Adonai ki hifli chasdo li beir matzorBlessed be HaShem; for He hath shown me His wondrous lovingkindness in an entrenched city. כג23 וַאֲנִי ׀ אָמַרְתִּי בְחָפְזִי נִגְרַזְתִּי מִנֶּגֶד עֵינֶיךָ אָכֵן שָׁמַעְתָּ קוֹל תַּחֲנוּנַי בְּשַׁוְּעִי אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ vaani ׀ amarti vechafzi nigrazti mineged eineikha akhen shamata kol tachanunay beshavi eleikhaAs for me, I said in my haste: 'I am cut off from before Thine eyes'; nevertheless Thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto Thee. כד24 אֶֽהֱבוּ אֶת־יְיָ כָּֽל־חֲסִידָיו אֱמוּנִים נֹצֵר יְיָ וּמְשַׁלֵּם עַל־יֶתֶר עֹשֵׂה גַאֲוָֽה׃ ehevu et-Adonai kal-chasidayv emunim notzer Adonai umshalem al-yeter oseh gaavahO love HaShem, all ye His godly ones; HaShem preserveth the faithful, and plentifully repayeth him that acteth haughtily. כה25 חִזְקוּ וְיַאֲמֵץ לְבַבְכֶם כָּל־הַמְיַחֲלִים לַיהוָֽה׃ chizku veyaametz levavkhem kal-hamyachalim layhvahBe strong, and let your heart take courage, all ye that wait for HaShem.

א1 לְדָוִד מַשְׂכִּיל אַשְׁרֵי נְֽשׂוּי־פֶּשַׁע כְּסוּי חֲטָאָֽה׃ ledavid maskil ashrei nesuy-pesha kesuy chataahA Psalm of David. Maschil. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is pardoned. ב2 אַשְֽׁרֵי אָדָם לֹא יַחְשֹׁב יְיָ לוֹ עָוֺן וְאֵין בְּרוּחוֹ רְמִיָּה׃ ashrei adam lo yachshov Adonai lo aon veein berucho remiyahHappy is the man unto whom HaShem counteth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. ג3 כִּֽי־הֶחֱרַשְׁתִּי בָּלוּ עֲצָמָי בְּשַׁאֲגָתִי כָּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ ki-hecherashti balu atzamay beshaagati kal-hayomWhen I kept silence, my bones wore away through my groaning all the day long. ד4 כִּי ׀ יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה תִּכְבַּד עָלַי יָדֶךָ נֶהְפַּךְ לְשַׁדִּי בְּחַרְבֹנֵי קַיִץ סֶֽלָה׃ ki ׀ yomam valaylah tikhebad alay yadekha nehpakhe leshadi becharvonei kayitz selahFor day and night Thy hand was heavy upon me; my sap was turned as in the droughts of summer. Selah ה5 חַטָּאתִי אוֹדִיעֲךָ וַעֲוֺנִי לֹֽא־כִסִּיתִי אָמַרְתִּי אוֹדֶה עֲלֵי פְשָׁעַי לַיהוָה וְאַתָּה נָשָׂאתָ עֲוֺן חַטָּאתִי סֶֽלָה׃ chatati odiyakha vaaoni lo-khisiti amarti odeh alei feshaay layhvah veatah nasata aon chatati selahI acknowledged my sin unto Thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid; I said: 'I will make confession concerning my transgressions unto HaShem' --and Thou, Thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah ו6 עַל־זֹאת יִתְפַּלֵּל כָּל־חָסִיד ׀ אֵלֶיךָ לְעֵת מְצֹא רַק לְשֵׁטֶף מַיִם רַבִּים אֵלָיו לֹא יַגִּֽיעוּ׃ al-zot yitpalel kal-chasid ׀ eleikha leet metzo rak leshetef mayim rabim elayv lo yagiyuFor this let every one that is godly pray unto Thee in a time when Thou mayest be found; surely, when the great waters overflow, they will not reach unto him. ז7 אַתָּה ׀ סֵתֶר לִי מִצַּר תִּצְּרֵנִי רָנֵּי פַלֵּט תְּסוֹבְבֵנִי סֶֽלָה׃ atah ׀ seter li mitzar titzereni ranei falet tesovveni selahThou art my hiding-place; Thou wilt preserve me from the adversary; with songs of deliverance Thou wilt compass me about. Selah ח8 אַשְׂכִּֽילְךָ ׀ וְֽאוֹרְךָ בְּדֶֽרֶךְ־זוּ תֵלֵךְ אִֽיעֲצָה עָלֶיךָ עֵינִֽי׃ askilkha ׀ veorkha bederekh-zu telekh iyatzah aleikha eini'I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will give counsel, Mine eye being upon thee.' ט9 אַל־תִּֽהְיוּ ׀ כְּסוּס כְּפֶרֶד אֵין הָבִין בְּמֶֽתֶג־וָרֶסֶן עֶדְיוֹ לִבְלוֹם בַּל קְרֹב אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ al-tiheyu ׀ kesus kefered ein havin bemeteg-varesen edyo livlom bal kerov eleikhaBe ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, that they come not near unto thee. י10 רַבִּים מַכְאוֹבִים לָרָשָׁע וְהַבּוֹטֵחַ בַּיהוָה חֶסֶד יְסוֹבְבֶֽנּוּ׃ rabim makhovim larasha vehabotecha bayhvah chesed yesovvenuMany are the sorrows of the wicked; but he that trusteth in HaShem, mercy compasseth him about. יא11 שִׂמְחוּ בַֽיהוָה וְגִילוּ צַדִּיקִים וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ simchu vayhvah vegilu tzadikim veharninu kal-yishrei-levBe glad in HaShem, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

א1 רַנְּנוּ צַדִּיקִים בַּֽיהוָה לַיְשָׁרִים נָאוָה תְהִלָּֽה׃ rannu tzadikim bayhvah laysharim navah tehilahRejoice in HaShem, O ye righteous, praise is comely for the upright. ב2 הוֹדוּ לַיהוָה בְּכִנּוֹר בְּנֵבֶל עָשׂוֹר זַמְּרוּ־לֽוֹ׃ hodu layhvah bekhinor benevel asor zamru-loGive thanks unto HaShem with harp, sing praises unto Him with the psaltery of ten strings. ג3 שִֽׁירוּ־לוֹ שִׁיר חָדָשׁ הֵיטִיבוּ נַגֵּן בִּתְרוּעָֽה׃ shiru-lo shir chadash heitivu nagen biteruahSing unto Him a new song; play skilfully amid shouts of joy. ד4 כִּֽי־יָשָׁר דְּבַר־יְיָ וְכָל־מַעֲשֵׂהוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָֽה׃ ki-yashar devar-Adonai vekhal-maasehu beemunahFor the word of HaShem is upright; and all His work is done in faithfulness. ה5 אֹהֵב צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט חֶסֶד יְיָ מָלְאָה הָאָֽרֶץ׃ ohev tzedakah umishpat chesed Adonai malah haaretzHe loveth righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the lovingkindness of HaShem. ו6 בִּדְבַר יְיָ שָׁמַיִם נַעֲשׂוּ וּבְרוּחַ פִּיו כָּל־צְבָאָֽם׃ bidevar Adonai shamayim naasu uvrucha piv kal-tzevaamBy the word of HaShem were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. ז7 כֹּנֵס כַּנֵּד מֵי הַיָּם נֹתֵן בְּאֹצָרוֹת תְּהוֹמֽוֹת׃ kones kaned mei hayam noten beotzarot tehomotHe gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; He layeth up the deeps in storehouses. ח8 יִֽירְאוּ מֵיְיָ כָּל־הָאָרֶץ מִמֶּנּוּ יָגוּרוּ כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵֽל׃ yiru meihvah kal-haaretz mimenu yaguru kal-yoshvei tevelLet all the earth fear HaShem; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. ט9 כִּי הוּא אָמַר וַיֶּהִי הֽוּא־צִוָּה וַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃ ki hu amar vayehi hu-tzivah vayaamodFor He spoke, and it was; He commanded, and it stood. י10 יְֽהוָה הֵפִיר עֲצַת־גּוֹיִם הֵנִיא מַחְשְׁבוֹת עַמִּֽים׃ Adonai hefir atzat-goyim heni machshvot amimHaShem bringeth the counsel of the nations to nought; He maketh the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect. יא11 עֲצַת יְיָ לְעוֹלָם תַּעֲמֹד מַחְשְׁבוֹת לִבּוֹ לְדֹר וָדֹֽר׃ atzat Adonai leolam taamod machshvot libo ledor vadorThe counsel of HaShem standeth for ever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations. יב12 אַשְׁרֵי הַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר־יְיָ אֱלֹהָיו הָעָם ׀ בָּחַר לְנַחֲלָה לֽוֹ׃ ashrei hagoy asher-Adonai elohayv haam ׀ bachar lenachalah loHappy is the nation whose G-d is HaShem; the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance. יג13 מִשָּׁמַיִם הִבִּיט יְיָ רָאָה אֶֽת־כָּל־בְּנֵי הָאָדָֽם׃ mishamayim hibit Adonai raah et-kal-benei haadamHaShem looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men; יד14 מִֽמְּכוֹן־שִׁבְתּוֹ הִשְׁגִּיחַ אֶל כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָֽרֶץ׃ mimkhon-shivto hishgicha el kal-yoshvei haaretzFrom the place of His habitation He looketh intently upon all the inhabitants of the earth; טו15 הַיֹּצֵר יַחַד לִבָּם הַמֵּבִין אֶל־כָּל־מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃ hayotzer yachad libam hamevin el-kal-maaseihemHe that fashioneth the hearts of them all, that considereth all their doings. טז16 אֵֽין־הַמֶּלֶךְ נוֹשָׁע בְּרָב־חָיִל גִּבּוֹר לֹֽא־יִנָּצֵל בְּרָב־כֹּֽחַ׃ ein-hamelekh nosha berav-chayil gibor lo-yinatzel berav-kochaA king is not saved by the multitude of a host; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength. יז17 שֶׁקֶר הַסּוּס לִתְשׁוּעָה וּבְרֹב חֵילוֹ לֹא יְמַלֵּֽט׃ sheker hasus litshuah uvrov cheilo lo yemaletA horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth it afford escape by its great strength. יח18 הִנֵּה עֵין יְיָ אֶל־יְרֵאָיו לַֽמְיַחֲלִים לְחַסְדּֽוֹ׃ hineh ein Adonai el-yereayv lamyachalim lechasdoBehold, the eye of HaShem is toward them that fear Him, toward them that wait for His mercy; יט19 לְהַצִּיל מִמָּוֶת נַפְשָׁם וּלְחַיּוֹתָם בָּרָעָֽב׃ lehatzil mimavet nafsham ulchayotam baraavTo deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. כ20 נַפְשֵׁנוּ חִכְּתָה לַֽיהוָה עֶזְרֵנוּ וּמָגִנֵּנוּ הֽוּא׃ nafshenu chiktah layhvah ezrenu umaginenu huOur soul hath waited for HaShem; He is our help and our shield. כא21 כִּי־בוֹ יִשְׂמַח לִבֵּנוּ כִּי בְשֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ בָטָֽחְנוּ׃ ki-vo yismach libenu ki veshem kadsho vatachnuFor in Him doth our heart rejoice, because we have trusted in His holy name. כב22 יְהִֽי־חַסְדְּךָ יְיָ עָלֵינוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר יִחַלְנוּ לָֽךְ׃ yehi-chasdkha Adonai aleinu kaasher yichalnu lakhLet Thy mercy, O HaShem, be upon us, according as we have waited for Thee.

א1 לְדָוִד בְּשַׁנּוֹתוֹ אֶת־טַעְמוֹ לִפְנֵי אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וַֽיְגָרֲשֵׁהוּ וַיֵּלַֽךְ׃ ledavid beshanoto et-tamo lifnei avimelekh vaygarashehu vayelakhA Psalm of David; when he changed his demeanour before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. ב2 אֲבָרֲכָה אֶת־יְיָ בְּכָל־עֵת תָּמִיד תְּֽהִלָּתוֹ בְּפִֽי׃ avarakhah et-Adonai bekhal-et tamid tehilato befiI will bless HaShem at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. ג3 בַּיהוָה תִּתְהַלֵּל נַפְשִׁי יִשְׁמְעוּ עֲנָוִים וְיִשְׂמָֽחוּ׃ bayhvah titehalel nafshi yishmu anavim veyismachuMy soul shall glory in HaShem; the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. ד4 גַּדְּלוּ לַיהוָה אִתִּי וּנְרוֹמְמָה שְׁמוֹ יַחְדָּֽו׃ gadelu layhvah iti unrommah shemo yachdavO magnify HaShem with me, and let us exalt His name together. ה5 דָּרַשְׁתִּי אֶת־יְיָ וְעָנָנִי וּמִכָּל־מְגוּרוֹתַי הִצִּילָֽנִי׃ darashti et-Adonai veanani umikal-megurotay hitzilaniI sought HaShem, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. ו6 הִבִּיטוּ אֵלָיו וְנָהָרוּ וּפְנֵיהֶם אַל־יֶחְפָּֽרוּ׃ hibitu elayv venaharu ufneihem al-yechparuThey looked unto Him, and were radiant; and their faces shall never be abashed. ז7 זֶה עָנִי קָרָא וַיהוָה שָׁמֵעַ וּמִכָּל־צָרוֹתָיו הוֹשִׁיעֽוֹ׃ zeh ani kara vayhvah shamea umikal-tzarotayv hoshiyoThis poor man cried, and HaShem heard, and saved him out of all his troubles. ח8 חֹנֶה מַלְאַךְ־יְיָ סָבִיב לִֽירֵאָיו וַֽיְחַלְּצֵֽם׃ choneh malakh-Adonai saviv lireayv vaychaltzemThe angel of HaShem encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. ט9 טַעֲמוּ וּרְאוּ כִּי־טוֹב יְיָ אַֽשְׁרֵי הַגֶּבֶר יֶחֱסֶה־בּֽוֹ׃ taamu uru ki-tov Adonai ashrei hagever yecheseh-boO consider and see that HaShem is good; happy is the man that taketh refuge in Him. י10 יְראוּ אֶת־יְיָ קְדֹשָׁיו כִּי־אֵין מַחְסוֹר לִירֵאָֽיו׃ yeru et-Adonai kedoshayv ki-ein machsor lireayvO fear HaShem, ye His holy ones; for there is no want to them that fear Him. יא11 כְּפִירִים רָשׁוּ וְרָעֵבוּ וְדֹרְשֵׁי יְיָ לֹא־יַחְסְרוּ כָל־טֽוֹב׃ kefirim rashu veraevu vedorshei Adonai lo-yachsru khal-tovThe young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek HaShem want not any good thing. יב12 לְֽכוּ־בָנִים שִׁמְעוּ־לִי יִֽרְאַת יְיָ אֲלַמֶּדְכֶֽם׃ lekhu-vanim shimu-li yirat Adonai alamedekhemCome, ye children, hearken unto me; I will teach you the fear of HaShem. יג13 מִֽי־הָאִישׁ הֶחָפֵץ חַיִּים אֹהֵב יָמִים לִרְאוֹת טֽוֹב׃ mi-haish hechafetz chayim ohev yamim lirot tovWho is the man that desireth life, and loveth days, that he may see good therein? יד14 נְצֹר לְשׁוֹנְךָ מֵרָע וּשְׂפָתֶיךָ מִדַּבֵּר מִרְמָֽה׃ netzor leshonkha mera usfateikha midaber mirmahKeep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. טו15 סוּר מֵרָע וַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹב בַּקֵּשׁ שָׁלוֹם וְרָדְפֵֽהוּ׃ sur mera vaaseh-tov bakesh shalom veradfehuDepart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. טז16 עֵינֵי יְיָ אֶל־צַדִּיקִים וְאָזְנָיו אֶל־שַׁוְעָתָֽם׃ einei Adonai el-tzadikim veaznayv el-shavatamThe eyes of HaShem are toward the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry. יז17 פְּנֵי יְיָ בְּעֹשֵׂי רָע לְהַכְרִית מֵאֶרֶץ זִכְרָֽם׃ penei Adonai beosei ra lehakhrit meeretz zikhramThe face of HaShem is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. יח18 צָעֲקוּ וַיהוָה שָׁמֵעַ וּמִכָּל־צָרוֹתָם הִצִּילָֽם׃ tzaaku vayhvah shamea umikal-tzarotam hitzilamThey cried, and HaShem heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles. יט19 קָרוֹב יְיָ לְנִשְׁבְּרֵי־לֵב וְֽאֶת־דַּכְּאֵי־רוּחַ יוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃ karov Adonai lenishbrei-lev veet-dakeei-rucha yoshiyaHaShem is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit. כ20 רַבּוֹת רָעוֹת צַדִּיק וּמִכֻּלָּם יַצִּילֶנּוּ יְהוָֽה׃ rabot raot tzadik umikulam yatzilenu AdonaiMany are the ills of the righteous, but HaShem delivereth him out of them all. כא21 שֹׁמֵר כָּל־עַצְמוֹתָיו אַחַת מֵהֵנָּה לֹא נִשְׁבָּֽרָה׃ shomer kal-atzmotayv achat mehenah lo nishbarahHe keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken. כב22 תְּמוֹתֵת רָשָׁע רָעָה וְשֹׂנְאֵי צַדִּיק יֶאְשָֽׁמוּ׃ temotet rasha raah vesonei tzadik yeshamuEvil shall kill the wicked; and they that hate the righteous shall be held guilty. כג23 פּוֹדֶה יְיָ נֶפֶשׁ עֲבָדָיו וְלֹא יֶאְשְׁמוּ כָּֽל־הַחֹסִים בּֽוֹ׃ podeh Adonai nefesh avadayv velo yeshmu kal-hachosim boHaShem redeemeth the soul of His servants; and none of them that take refuge in Him shall be desolate.

Strive, O HaShem, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me. ב2 הַחֲזֵק מָגֵן וְצִנָּה וְקוּמָה בְּעֶזְרָתִֽי׃ hachazek magen vetzinah vekumah beezratiTake hold of shield and buckler, and rise up to my help. ג3 וְהָרֵק חֲנִית וּסְגֹר לִקְרַאת רֹדְפָי אֱמֹר לְנַפְשִׁי יְֽשֻׁעָתֵךְ אָֽנִי׃ veharek chanit usgor likrat rodfay emor lenafshi yeshuatekh aniDraw out also the spear, and the battle-axe, against them that pursue me; say unto my soul: 'I am Thy salvation.' ד4 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִכָּלְמוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי יִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר וְיַחְפְּרוּ חֹשְׁבֵי רָעָתִֽי׃ yevoshu veyikalemu mevakshei nafshi yisogu achor veyachpru choshvei raatiLet them be ashamed and brought to confusion that seek after my soul; let them be turned back and be abashed that devise my hurt. ה5 יִֽהְיוּ כְּמֹץ לִפְנֵי־רוּחַ וּמַלְאַךְ יְיָ דּוֹחֶֽה׃ yihyu kemotz lifnei-rucha umalakh Adonai dochehLet them be as chaff before the wind, the angel of HaShem thrusting them. ו6 יְֽהִי־דַרְכָּם חֹשֶׁךְ וַחֲלַקְלַקּוֹת וּמַלְאַךְ יְיָ רֹדְפָֽם׃ yehi-darkam choshekh vachalaklakot umalakh Adonai rodfamLet their way be dark and slippery, the angel of HaShem pursuing them. ז7 כִּֽי־חִנָּם טָֽמְנוּ־לִי שַׁחַת רִשְׁתָּם חִנָּם חָפְרוּ לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃ ki-chinam tamnu-li shachat rishtam chinam chafru lenafshiFor without cause have they hid for me the pit, even their net, without cause have they digged for my soul. ח8 תְּבוֹאֵהוּ שׁוֹאָה לֹֽא־יֵדָע וְרִשְׁתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר־טָמַן תִּלְכְּדוֹ בְּשׁוֹאָה יִפָּל־בָּֽהּ׃ tevoehu shoah lo-yeda verishto asher-taman tilekdo beshoah yipal-bahLet destruction come upon him unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself; with destruction let him fall therein. ט9 וְנַפְשִׁי תָּגִיל בַּיהוָה תָּשִׂישׂ בִּישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃ venafshi tagil bayhvah tasis bishuatoAnd my soul shall be joyful in HaShem; it shall rejoice in His salvation. י10 כָּל עַצְמוֹתַי ׀ תֹּאמַרְנָה יְיָ מִי כָמוֹךָ מַצִּיל עָנִי מֵחָזָק מִמֶּנּוּ וְעָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן מִגֹּזְלֽוֹ׃ kal atzmotay ׀ tomarnah Adonai mi khamokha matzil ani mechazak mimenu veani veevyon migozeloAll my bones shall say: 'HaShem, who is like unto Thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?' יא11 יְקוּמוּן עֵדֵי חָמָס אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי יִשְׁאָלֽוּנִי׃ yekumun edei chamas asher lo-yadati yishaluniUnrighteous witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not. יב12 יְשַׁלְּמוּנִי רָעָה תַּחַת טוֹבָה שְׁכוֹל לְנַפְשִֽׁי׃ yeshalmuni raah tachat tovah shekhol lenafshiThey repay me evil for good; bereavement is come to my soul. יג13 וַאֲנִי ׀ בַּחֲלוֹתָם לְבוּשִׁי שָׂק עִנֵּיתִי בַצּוֹם נַפְשִׁי וּתְפִלָּתִי עַל־חֵיקִי תָשֽׁוּב׃ vaani ׀ bachalotam levushi sak ineiti vatzom nafshi utfilati al-cheiki tashuvBut as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth, I afflicted my soul with fasting; and my prayer, may it return into mine own bosom. יד14 כְּרֵֽעַ־כְּאָח לִי הִתְהַלָּכְתִּי כַּאֲבֶל־אֵם קֹדֵר שַׁחֽוֹתִי׃ kerea-keach li hithalakheti kaavel-em koder shachotiI went about as though it had been my friend or my brother; I bowed down mournful, as one that mourneth for his mother. טו15 וּבְצַלְעִי שָׂמְחוּ וְֽנֶאֱסָפוּ נֶאֶסְפוּ עָלַי נֵכִים וְלֹא יָדַעְתִּי קָֽרְעוּ וְלֹא־דָֽמּוּ׃ uvtzali samchu veneesafu neesfu alay nekhim velo yadati karu velo-damuBut when I halt they rejoice, and gather themselves together; the abjects gather themselves together against me, and those whom I know not; they tear me, and cease not; טז16 בְּחַנְפֵי לַעֲגֵי מָעוֹג חָרֹק עָלַי שִׁנֵּֽימוֹ׃ bechanfei laagei maog charok alay shineimoWith the profanest mockeries of backbiting they gnash at me with their teeth. יז17 אֲדֹנָי כַּמָּה תִּרְאֶה הָשִׁיבָה נַפְשִׁי מִשֹּׁאֵיהֶם מִכְּפִירִים יְחִידָתִֽי׃ Adonai kamah tireeh hashivah nafshi mishoeihem mikfirim yechidatiL-rd, how long wilt Thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, mine only one from the lions. יח18 אוֹדְךָ בְּקָהָל רָב בְּעַם עָצוּם אֲהַֽלְלֶֽךָּ׃ odkha bekahal rav beam atzum ahallekaI will give Thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise Thee among a numerous people. יט19 אַֽל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי אֹיְבַי שֶׁקֶר שֹׂנְאַי חִנָּם יִקְרְצוּ־עָֽיִן׃ al-yismchu-li oyvay sheker sonay chinam yikrtzu-ayinLet not them that are wrongfully mine enemies rejoice over me; neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. כ20 כִּי לֹא שָׁלוֹם יְדַבֵּרוּ וְעַל רִגְעֵי־אֶרֶץ דִּבְרֵי מִרְמוֹת יַחֲשֹׁבֽוּן׃ ki lo shalom yedaberu veal rigei-eretz diverei mirmot yachashovunFor they speak not peace; but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land. כא21 וַיַּרְחִיבוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אָמְרוּ הֶאָח ׀ הֶאָח רָאֲתָה עֵינֵֽינוּ׃ vayarechivu alay pihem amru heach ׀ heach raatah eineinuYea, they open their mouth wide against me; they say: 'Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.' כב22 רָאִיתָה יְיָ אַֽל־תֶּחֱרַשׁ אֲדֹנָי אֲל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ raitah Adonai al-techerash Adonai al-tirechak mimeniThou hast seen, O HaShem; keep not silence; O L-rd, be not far from me. כג23 הָעִירָה וְהָקִיצָה לְמִשְׁפָּטִי אֱלֹהַי וַֽאדֹנָי לְרִיבִֽי׃ hairah vehakitzah lemishpati elohay vadonay leriviRouse Thee, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my G-d and my L-rd. כד24 שָׁפְטֵנִי כְצִדְקְךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהָי וְאַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִֽי׃ shafteni khetzidkkha Adonai elohay veal-yismchu-liJudge me, O HaShem my G-d, according to Thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. כה25 אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בְלִבָּם הֶאָח נַפְשֵׁנוּ אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בִּֽלַּעֲנֽוּהוּ׃ al-yomru velibam heach nafshenu al-yomru bilaanuhuLet them not say in their heart: 'Aha, we have our desire'; let them not say: 'We have swallowed him up.' כו26 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיַחְפְּרוּ ׀ יַחְדָּו שְׂמֵחֵי רָעָתִי יִֽלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹשֶׁת וּכְלִמָּה הַֽמַּגְדִּילִים עָלָֽי׃ yevoshu veyachpru ׀ yachdav semechei raati yilbshu-voshet ukhlimah hamagedilim alayLet them be ashamed and abashed together that rejoice at my hurt; let them be clothed with shame and confusion that magnify themselves against me. כז27 יָרֹנּוּ וְיִשְׂמְחוּ חֲפֵצֵי צִדְקִי וְיֹאמְרוּ תָמִיד יִגְדַּל יְיָ הֶחָפֵץ שְׁלוֹם עַבְדּֽוֹ׃ yaronu veyismchu chafetzei tzidki veyomru tamid yigdal Adonai hechafetz shelom avdoLet them shout for joy, and be glad, that delight in my righteousness; yea, let them say continually: 'Magnified be HaShem, who delighteth in the peace of His servant.' כח28 וּלְשׁוֹנִי תֶּהְגֶּה צִדְקֶךָ כָּל־הַיּוֹם תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃ ulshoni tehegeh tzidkekha kal-hayom tehilatekhaAnd my tongue shall speak of Thy righteousness, and of Thy praise all the day.

A Psalm of David the servant of HaShem. ב2 נְאֻֽם־פֶּשַׁע לָרָשָׁע בְּקֶרֶב לִבִּי אֵֽין־פַּחַד אֱלֹהִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינָֽיו׃ neum-pesha larasha bekerev libi ein-pachad Elohim leneged einayvTransgression speaketh to the wicked, methinks-- there is no fear of G-d before his eyes. ג3 כִּֽי־הֶחֱלִיק אֵלָיו בְּעֵינָיו לִמְצֹא עֲוֺנוֹ לִשְׂנֹֽא׃ ki-hechelik elayv beeinayv limtzo aono lisnoFor it flattereth him in his eyes, until his iniquity be found, and he be hated. ד4 דִּבְרֵי־פִיו אָוֶן וּמִרְמָה חָדַל לְהַשְׂכִּיל לְהֵיטִֽיב׃ diverei-fiv aven umirmah chadal lehaskil leheitivThe words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit; he hath left off to be wise, to do good. ה5 אָוֶן ׀ יַחְשֹׁב עַֽל־מִשְׁכָּבוֹ יִתְיַצֵּב עַל־דֶּרֶךְ לֹא־טוֹב רָע לֹא יִמְאָֽס׃ aven ׀ yachshov al-mishkavo yityatzev al-derekh lo-tov ra lo yimasHe deviseth iniquity upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil. ו6 יְיָ בְּהַשָּׁמַיִם חַסְדֶּךָ אֱמֽוּנָתְךָ עַד־שְׁחָקִֽים׃ Adonai behashamayim chasdekha emunatkha ad-shechakimThy lovingkindness, O HaShem, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies. ז7 צִדְקָֽתְךָ ׀ כְּֽהַרְרֵי־אֵל מִשְׁפָּטֶךָ תְּהוֹם רַבָּה אָדָֽם־וּבְהֵמָה תוֹשִׁיעַ יְהוָֽה׃ tzidkatkha ׀ keharrei-el mishpatekha tehom rabah adam-uvhemah toshiya AdonaiThy righteousness is like the mighty mountains; Thy judgments are like the great deep; man and beast Thou preservest, O HaShem. ח8 מַה־יָּקָר חַסְדְּךָ אֱלֹהִים וּבְנֵי אָדָם בְּצֵל כְּנָפֶיךָ יֶחֱסָיֽוּן׃ mah-yakar chasdkha Elohim uvnei adam betzel kenafeikha yechesayunHow precious is Thy lovingkindness, O G-d! and the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Thy wings. ט9 יִרְוְיֻן מִדֶּשֶׁן בֵּיתֶךָ וְנַחַל עֲדָנֶיךָ תַשְׁקֵֽם׃ yirvyun mideshen beitekha venachal adaneikha tashkemThey are abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house; and Thou makest them drink of the river of Thy pleasures. י10 כִּֽי־עִמְּךָ מְקוֹר חַיִּים בְּאוֹרְךָ נִרְאֶה־אֽוֹר׃ ki-imkha mekor chayim beorkha nireh-orFor with Thee is the fountain of life; in Thy light do we see light. יא11 מְשֹׁךְ חַסְדְּךָ לְיֹדְעֶיךָ וְצִדְקָֽתְךָ לְיִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ meshokh chasdkha leyodeikha vetzidkatkha leyishrei-levO continue Thy lovingkindness unto them that know Thee; and Thy righteousness to the upright in heart. יב12 אַל־תְּבוֹאֵנִי רֶגֶל גַּאֲוָה וְיַד־רְשָׁעִים אַל־תְּנִדֵֽנִי׃ al-tevoeni regel gaavah veyad-reshaim al-tenideniLet not the foot of pride overtake me, and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away. יג13 שָׁם נָפְלוּ פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן דֹּחוּ וְלֹא־יָכְלוּ קֽוּם׃ sham naflu poalei aven dochu velo-yakhlu kumThere are the workers of iniquity fallen; they are thrust down, and are not able to rise.

א1 לְדָוִד ׀ אַל־תִּתְחַר בַּמְּרֵעִים אַל־תְּקַנֵּא בְּעֹשֵׂי עַוְלָֽה׃ ledavid ׀ al-titechar bamereim al-tekane beosei avlahA Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness. ב2 כִּי כֶחָצִיר מְהֵרָה יִמָּלוּ וּכְיֶרֶק דֶּשֶׁא יִבּוֹלֽוּן׃ ki khechatzir meherah yimalu ukhyerek deshe yibolunFor they shall soon wither like the grass, and fade as the green herb. ג3 בְּטַח בַּֽיהוָה וַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹב שְׁכָן־אֶרֶץ וּרְעֵה אֱמוּנָֽה׃ betach bayhvah vaaseh-tov shekhan-eretz ureh emunahTrust in HaShem, and do good; dwell in the land, and cherish faithfulness. ד4 וְהִתְעַנַּג עַל־יְיָ וְיִֽתֶּן־לְךָ מִשְׁאֲלֹת לִבֶּֽךָ׃ vehitanag al-Adonai veyiten-lekha mishalot libekhaSo shalt thou delight thyself in HaShem; and He shall give thee the petitions of thy heart. ה5 גּוֹל עַל־יְיָ דַּרְכֶּךָ וּבְטַח עָלָיו וְהוּא יַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ gol al-Adonai darekekha uvtach alayv vehu yaasehCommit thy way unto HaShem; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. ו6 וְהוֹצִיא כָאוֹר צִדְקֶךָ וּמִשְׁפָּטֶךָ כַּֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃ vehotzi khaor tzidkekha umishpatekha katzahorayimAnd He will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, and thy right as the noonday. ז7 דּוֹם ׀ לַיהוָה וְהִתְחוֹלֵל לוֹ אַל־תִּתְחַר בְּמַצְלִיחַ דַּרְכּוֹ בְּאִישׁ עֹשֶׂה מְזִמּֽוֹת׃ dom ׀ layhvah vehitcholel lo al-titechar bematzlicha dareko beish oseh mezimotResign thyself unto HaShem, and wait patiently for Him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. ח8 הֶרֶף מֵאַף וַעֲזֹב חֵמָה אַל־תִּתְחַר אַךְ־לְהָרֵֽעַ׃ heref meaf vaazov chemah al-titechar akh-lehareaCease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself, it tendeth only to evil-doing. ט9 כִּֽי־מְרֵעִים יִכָּרֵתוּן וְקֹוֵי יְיָ הֵמָּה יִֽירְשׁוּ־אָֽרֶץ׃ ki-mereim yikaretun vekovei Adonai hemah yirshu-aretzFor evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait for HaShem, they shall inherit the land. י10 וְעוֹד מְעַט וְאֵין רָשָׁע וְהִתְבּוֹנַנְתָּ עַל־מְקוֹמוֹ וְאֵינֶֽנּוּ׃ veod meat veein rasha vehitbonanta al-mekomo veeinenuAnd yet a little while, and the wicked is no more; yea, thou shalt look well at his place, and he is not. יא11 וַעֲנָוִים יִֽירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץ וְהִתְעַנְּגוּ עַל־רֹב שָׁלֽוֹם׃ vaanavim yirshu-aretz vehitangu al-rov shalomBut the humble shall inherit the land, and delight themselves in the abundance of peace. יב12 זֹמֵם רָשָׁע לַצַּדִּיק וְחֹרֵק עָלָיו שִׁנָּֽיו׃ zomem rasha latzadik vechorek alayv shinayvThe wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth at him with his teeth. יג13 אֲדֹנָי יִשְׂחַק־לוֹ כִּֽי־רָאָה כִּֽי־יָבֹא יוֹמֽוֹ׃ Adonai yischak-lo ki-raah ki-yavo yomoThe L-rd doth laugh at him; for He seeth that his day is coming. יד14 חֶרֶב ׀ פָּֽתְחוּ רְשָׁעִים וְדָרְכוּ קַשְׁתָּם לְהַפִּיל עָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן לִטְבוֹחַ יִשְׁרֵי־דָֽרֶךְ׃ cherev ׀ patechu reshaim vedarkhu kashtam lehapil ani veevyon litvocha yishrei-darekhThe wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow; to cast down the poor and needy, to slay such as are upright in the way; טו15 חַרְבָּם תָּבוֹא בְלִבָּם וְקַשְּׁתוֹתָם תִּשָּׁבַֽרְנָה׃ charbam tavo velibam vekashtotam tishavarnahTheir sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. טז16 טוֹב־מְעַט לַצַּדִּיק מֵהֲמוֹן רְשָׁעִים רַבִּֽים׃ tov-meat latzadik mehamon reshaim rabimBetter is a little that the righteous hath than the abundance of many wicked. יז17 כִּי זְרוֹעוֹת רְשָׁעִים תִּשָּׁבַרְנָה וְסוֹמֵךְ צַדִּיקִים יְהוָֽה׃ ki zeroot reshaim tishavarnah vesomekh tzadikim AdonaiFor the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but HaShem upholdeth the righteous. יח18 יוֹדֵעַ יְיָ יְמֵי תְמִימִם וְנַחֲלָתָם לְעוֹלָם תִּהְיֶֽה׃ yodea Adonai yemei temimim venachalatam leolam tiheyehHaShem knoweth the days of them that are wholehearted; and their inheritance shall be for ever. יט19 לֹֽא־יֵבֹשׁוּ בְּעֵת רָעָה וּבִימֵי רְעָבוֹן יִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃ lo-yevoshu beet raah uvimei reavon yisbauThey shall not be ashamed in the time of evil; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. כ20 כִּי רְשָׁעִים ׀ יֹאבֵדוּ וְאֹיְבֵי יְיָ כִּיקַר כָּרִים כָּלוּ בֶעָשָׁן כָּֽלוּ׃ ki reshaim ׀ yovedu veoyvei Adonai kikar karim kalu veashan kaluFor the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of HaShem shall be as the fat of lambs--they shall pass away in smoke, they shall pass away. כא21 לֹוֶה רָשָׁע וְלֹא יְשַׁלֵּם וְצַדִּיק חוֹנֵן וְנוֹתֵֽן׃ loveh rasha velo yeshalem vetzadik chonen venotenThe wicked borroweth, and payeth not; but the righteous dealeth graciously, and giveth. כב22 כִּי מְבֹרָכָיו יִירְשׁוּ אָרֶץ וּמְקֻלָּלָיו יִכָּרֵֽתוּ׃ ki mevorakhayv yirshu aretz umkulalayv yikaretuFor such as are blessed of Him shall inherit the land; and they that are cursed of Him shall be cut off. כג23 מֵיְיָ מִֽצְעֲדֵי־גֶבֶר כּוֹנָנוּ וְדַרְכּוֹ יֶחְפָּֽץ׃ meihvah mitzadei-gever konanu vedarko yechpatzIt is of HaShem that a man's goings are established; and He delighted in his way. כד24 כִּֽי־יִפֹּל לֹֽא־יוּטָל כִּֽי־יְיָ סוֹמֵךְ יָדֽוֹ׃ ki-yipol lo-yutal ki-Adonai somekh yadoThough he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for HaShem upholdeth his hand. כה25 נַעַר ׀ הָיִיתִי גַּם־זָקַנְתִּי וְֽלֹא־רָאִיתִי צַדִּיק נֶעֱזָב וְזַרְעוֹ מְבַקֶּשׁ־לָֽחֶם׃ naar ׀ hayiti gam-zakanti velo-raiti tzadik neezav vezaro mevakesh-lachemI have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. כו26 כָּל־הַיּוֹם חוֹנֵן וּמַלְוֶה וְזַרְעוֹ לִבְרָכָֽה׃ kal-hayom chonen umalveh vezaro livrakhahAll the day long he dealeth graciously, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. כז27 סוּר מֵרָע וַעֲשֵׂה־טוֹב וּשְׁכֹן לְעוֹלָֽם׃ sur mera vaaseh-tov ushkhon leolamDepart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. כח28 כִּי יְיָ ׀ אֹהֵב מִשְׁפָּט וְלֹא־יַעֲזֹב אֶת־חֲסִידָיו לְעוֹלָם נִשְׁמָרוּ וְזֶרַע רְשָׁעִים נִכְרָֽת׃ ki Adonai ׀ ohev mishpat velo-yaazov et-chasidayv leolam nishmaru vezera reshaim nikhratFor HaShem loveth justice, and forsaketh not His saints; they are preserved for ever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. כט29 צַדִּיקִים יִֽירְשׁוּ־אָרֶץ וְיִשְׁכְּנוּ לָעַד עָלֶֽיהָ׃ tzadikim yirshu-aretz veyishknu laad aleihaThe righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. ל30 פִּֽי־צַדִּיק יֶהְגֶּה חָכְמָה וּלְשׁוֹנוֹ תְּדַבֵּר מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ pi-tzadik yehgeh chakhmah ulshono tedaber mishpatThe mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh justice. לא31 תּוֹרַת אֱלֹהָיו בְּלִבּוֹ לֹא תִמְעַד אֲשֻׁרָיו׃ torat elohayv belibo lo timad ashurayvThe law of his G-d is in his heart; none of his steps slide. לב32 צוֹפֶה רָשָׁע לַצַּדִּיק וּמְבַקֵּשׁ לַהֲמִיתוֹ׃ tzofeh rasha latzadik umvakesh lahamitoThe wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. לג33 יְיָ לֹא־יַעַזְבֶנּוּ בְיָדוֹ וְלֹא יַרְשִׁיעֶנּוּ בְּהִשָּׁפְטֽוֹ׃ Adonai lo-yaazvenu veyado velo yarshiyenu behishafetoHaShem will not leave him in his hand, nor suffer him to be condemned when he is judged. לד34 קַוֵּה אֶל־יְיָ ׀ וּשְׁמֹר דַּרְכּוֹ וִֽירוֹמִמְךָ לָרֶשֶׁת אָרֶץ בְּהִכָּרֵת רְשָׁעִים תִּרְאֶֽה׃ kaveh el-Adonai ׀ ushmor dareko viromimkha lareshet aretz behikaret reshaim tireehWait for HaShem, and keep His way, and He will exalt thee to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. לה35 רָאִיתִי רָשָׁע עָרִיץ וּמִתְעָרֶה כְּאֶזְרָח רַעֲנָֽן׃ raiti rasha aritz umitareh keezrach raananI have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a leafy tree in its native soil. לו36 וַיַּֽעֲבֹר וְהִנֵּה אֵינֶנּוּ וָֽאֲבַקְשֵׁהוּ וְלֹא נִמְצָֽא׃ vayaavor vehineh einenu vaavakshehu velo nimtzaBut one passed by, and, lo, he was not; yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. לז37 שְׁמָר־תָּם וּרְאֵה יָשָׁר כִּֽי־אַחֲרִית לְאִישׁ שָׁלֽוֹם׃ shemar-tam ureh yashar ki-acharit leish shalomMark the man of integrity, and behold the upright; for there is a future for the man of peace. לח38 וּֽפֹשְׁעִים נִשְׁמְדוּ יַחְדָּו אַחֲרִית רְשָׁעִים נִכְרָֽתָה׃ ufoshim nishmdu yachdav acharit reshaim nikhratahBut transgressors shall be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off. לט39 וּתְשׁוּעַת צַדִּיקִים מֵיְיָ מָֽעוּזָּם בְּעֵת צָרָֽה׃ utshuat tzadikim meihvah mauzam beet tzarahBut the salvation of the righteous is of HaShem; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble. מ40 וַֽיַּעְזְרֵם יְיָ וַֽיְפַלְּטֵם יְפַלְּטֵם מֵרְשָׁעִים וְיוֹשִׁיעֵם כִּי־חָסוּ בֽוֹ׃ vayaezrem Adonai vayfaltem yefaltem mershaim veyoshiyem ki-chasu voAnd HaShem helpeth them, and delivereth them; He delivereth them from the wicked, and saveth them, because they have taken refuge in Him.

א1 מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד לְהַזְכִּֽיר׃ mizmor ledavid lehazkirA Psalm of David, to make memorial. ב2 יְֽהוָה אַל־בְּקֶצְפְּךָ תוֹכִיחֵנִי וּֽבַחֲמָתְךָ תְיַסְּרֵֽנִי׃ Adonai al-beketzpkha tokhicheni uvachamatkha teyasreniO HaShem, rebuke me not in Thine anger; neither chasten me in Thy wrath. ג3 כִּֽי־חִצֶּיךָ נִחֲתוּ בִי וַתִּנְחַת עָלַי יָדֶֽךָ׃ ki-chitzeikha nichatu vi vatinechat alay yadekhaFor Thine arrows are gone deep into me, and Thy hand is come down upon me. ד4 אֵין־מְתֹם בִּבְשָׂרִי מִפְּנֵי זַעְמֶךָ אֵין־שָׁלוֹם בַּעֲצָמַי מִפְּנֵי חַטָּאתִֽי׃ ein-metom bivesari mipnei zamekha ein-shalom baatzamay mipnei chatatiThere is no soundness in my flesh because of Thine indignation; neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin. ה5 כִּי עֲוֺנֹתַי עָבְרוּ רֹאשִׁי כְּמַשָּׂא כָבֵד יִכְבְּדוּ מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ ki aonotay avru roshi kemasa khaved yikhbdu mimeniFor mine iniquities are gone over my head; as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. ו6 הִבְאִישׁוּ נָמַקּוּ חַבּוּרֹתָי מִפְּנֵי אִוַּלְתִּֽי׃ hivishu namaku chaburotay mipnei ivaletiMy wounds are noisome, they fester, because of my foolishness. ז7 נַעֲוֵיתִי שַׁחֹתִי עַד־מְאֹד כָּל־הַיּוֹם קֹדֵר הִלָּֽכְתִּי׃ naaveiti shachoti ad-meod kal-hayom koder hilakhetiI am bent and bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day. ח8 כִּֽי־כְסָלַי מָלְאוּ נִקְלֶה וְאֵין מְתֹם בִּבְשָׂרִֽי׃ ki-khesalay malu nikleh veein metom bivesariFor my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh. ט9 נְפוּגוֹתִי וְנִדְכֵּיתִי עַד־מְאֹד שָׁאַגְתִּי מִֽנַּהֲמַת לִבִּֽי׃ nefugoti venidkeiti ad-meod shaagti minahamat libiI am benumbed and sore crushed; I groan by reason of the moaning of my heart. י10 אֲֽדֹנָי נֶגְדְּךָ כָל־תַּאֲוָתִי וְאַנְחָתִי מִמְּךָ לֹא־נִסְתָּֽרָה׃ adonay negdkha khal-taavati veanchati mimkha lo-nistarahL-rd, all my desire is before Thee; and my sighing is not hid from Thee. יא11 לִבִּי סְחַרְחַר עֲזָבַנִי כֹחִי וְֽאוֹר־עֵינַי גַּם־הֵם אֵין אִתִּֽי׃ libi secharchar azavani khochi veor-einay gam-hem ein itiMy heart fluttereth, my strength faileth me; as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. יב12 אֹֽהֲבַי ׀ וְרֵעַי מִנֶּגֶד נִגְעִי יַעֲמֹדוּ וּקְרוֹבַי מֵרָחֹק עָמָֽדוּ׃ ohavay ׀ vereay mineged nigi yaamodu ukrovay merachok amaduMy friends and my companions stand aloof from my plague; and my kinsmen stand afar off. יג13 וַיְנַקְשׁוּ ׀ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי וְדֹרְשֵׁי רָעָתִי דִּבְּרוּ הַוּוֹת וּמִרְמוֹת כָּל־הַיּוֹם יֶהְגּֽוּ׃ vaynakshu ׀ mevakshei nafshi vedorshei raati diberu hauot umirmot kal-hayom yehguThey also that seek after my life lay snares for me; and they that seek my hurt speak crafty devices, and utter deceits all the day. יד14 וַאֲנִי כְחֵרֵשׁ לֹא אֶשְׁמָע וּכְאִלֵּם לֹא יִפְתַּח־פִּֽיו׃ vaani khecheresh lo eshma ukhilem lo yiftach-pivBut I am as a deaf man, I hear not; and I am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. טו15 וָאֱהִי כְּאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־שֹׁמֵעַ וְאֵין בְּפִיו תּוֹכָחֽוֹת׃ vaehi keish asher lo-shomea veein befiv tokhachotYea, I am become as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no arguments. טז16 כִּֽי־לְךָ יְיָ הוֹחָלְתִּי אַתָּה תַעֲנֶה אֲדֹנָי אֱלֹהָֽי׃ ki-lekha Adonai hochalti atah taaneh Adonai elohayFor in Thee, O HaShem, do I hope; Thou wilt answer, O L-rd my G-d. יז17 כִּֽי־אָמַרְתִּי פֶּן־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי בְּמוֹט רַגְלִי עָלַי הִגְדִּֽילוּ׃ ki-amarti pen-yismchu-li bemot ragli alay higdiluFor I said: 'Lest they rejoice over me; when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.' יח18 כִּֽי־אֲנִי לְצֶלַע נָכוֹן וּמַכְאוֹבִי נֶגְדִּי תָמִֽיד׃ ki-ani letzela nakhon umakhovi negdi tamidFor I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me. יט19 כִּֽי־עֲוֺנִי אַגִּיד אֶדְאַג מֵֽחַטָּאתִֽי׃ ki-aoni agid edag mechatatiFor I do declare mine iniquity; I am full of care because of my sin. כ20 וְֽאֹיְבַי חַיִּים עָצֵמוּ וְרַבּוּ שֹׂנְאַי שָֽׁקֶר׃ veoyvay chayim atzemu verabu sonay shakerBut mine enemies are strong in health; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. כא21 וּמְשַׁלְּמֵי רָעָה תַּחַת טוֹבָה יִשְׂטְנוּנִי תַּחַת רדופי־טֽוֹב׃ umshalmei raah tachat tovah yistnuni tachat rdvfy-tovThey also that repay evil for good are adversaries unto me, because I follow the thing that is good. כב22 אַל־תַּֽעַזְבֵנִי יְיָ אֱלֹהַי אַל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ al-taazveni Adonai elohay al-tirechak mimeniForsake me not, O HaShem; O my G-d, be not far from me. כג23 חוּשָׁה לְעֶזְרָתִי אֲדֹנָי תְּשׁוּעָתִֽי׃ chushah leezrati Adonai teshuatiMake haste to help me, O L-rd, my salvation.

A Psalm of David. ב2 אָמַרְתִּי אֶֽשְׁמְרָה דְרָכַי מֵחֲטוֹא בִלְשׁוֹנִי אֶשְׁמְרָה לְפִי מַחְסוֹם בְּעֹד רָשָׁע לְנֶגְדִּֽי׃ amarti eshmrah derakhay mechato vilshoni eshmrah lefi machsom beod rasha lenegdiI said: 'I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue; I will keep a curb upon my mouth, while the wicked is before me.' ג3 נֶאֱלַמְתִּי דוּמִיָּה הֶחֱשֵׁיתִי מִטּוֹב וּכְאֵבִי נֶעְכָּֽר׃ neelamti dumiyah hechesheiti mitov ukhevi nekarI was dumb with silence; I held my peace, had no comfort; and my pain was held in check. ד4 חַם־לִבִּי ׀ בְּקִרְבִּי בַּהֲגִיגִי תִבְעַר־אֵשׁ דִּבַּרְתִּי בִּלְשֽׁוֹנִי׃ cham-libi ׀ bekirbi bahagigi tivar-esh dibareti bileshoniMy heart waxed hot within me; while I was musing, the fire kindled; then spoke I with my tongue: ה5 הוֹדִיעֵנִי יְיָ ׀ קִצִּי וּמִדַּת יָמַי מַה־הִיא אֵדְעָה מֶה־חָדֵל אָֽנִי׃ hodiyeni Adonai ׀ kitzi umidat yamay mah-hi edah meh-chadel ani'HaShem, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; let me know how short-lived I am. ו6 הִנֵּה טְפָחוֹת ׀ נָתַתָּה יָמַי וְחֶלְדִּי כְאַיִן נֶגְדֶּךָ אַךְ כָּֽל־הֶבֶל כָּל־אָדָם נִצָּב סֶֽלָה׃ hineh tefachot ׀ natatah yamay vecheldi kheayin negdekha akh kal-hevel kal-adam nitzav selahBehold, Thou hast made my days as hand-breadths; and mine age is as nothing before Thee; surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity. Selah ז7 אַךְ־בְּצֶלֶם ׀ יִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־אִישׁ אַךְ־הֶבֶל יֶהֱמָיוּן יִצְבֹּר וְֽלֹא־יֵדַע מִי־אֹסְפָֽם׃ akh-betzelem ׀ yithalekhe-ish akh-hevel yehemayun yitzbor velo-yeda mi-osfamSurely man walketh as a mere semblance; surely for vanity they are in turmoil; he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. ח8 וְעַתָּה מַה־קִּוִּיתִי אֲדֹנָי תּוֹחַלְתִּי לְךָ הִֽיא׃ veatah mah-kiviti Adonai tochalti lekha hiAnd now, L-rd, what wait I for? My hope, it is in Thee. ט9 מִכָּל־פְּשָׁעַי הַצִּילֵנִי חֶרְפַּת נָבָל אַל־תְּשִׂימֵֽנִי׃ mikal-peshaay hatzileni cherpat naval al-tesimeniDeliver me from all my transgressions; make me not the reproach of the base. י10 נֶאֱלַמְתִּי לֹא אֶפְתַּח־פִּי כִּי אַתָּה עָשִֽׂיתָ׃ neelamti lo eftach-pi ki atah asitaI am dumb, I open not my mouth; because Thou hast done it. יא11 הָסֵר מֵעָלַי נִגְעֶךָ מִתִּגְרַת יָדְךָ אֲנִי כָלִֽיתִי׃ haser mealay nigekha mitigerat yadkha ani khalitiRemove Thy stroke from off me; I am consumed by the blow of Thy hand. יב12 בְּֽתוֹכָחוֹת עַל־עָוֺן ׀ יִסַּרְתָּ אִישׁ וַתֶּמֶס כָּעָשׁ חֲמוּדוֹ אַךְ הֶבֶל כָּל־אָדָם סֶֽלָה׃ betokhachot al-aon ׀ yisareta ish vatemes kaash chamudo akh hevel kal-adam selahWith rebukes dost Thou chasten man for iniquity, and like a moth Thou makest his beauty to consume away; surely every man is vanity. Selah יג13 שִֽׁמְעָה־תְפִלָּתִי ׀ יְיָ וְשַׁוְעָתִי ׀ הַאֲזִינָה אֶֽל־דִּמְעָתִי אַֽל־תֶּחֱרַשׁ כִּי גֵר אָנֹכִי עִמָּךְ תּוֹשָׁב כְּכָל־אֲבוֹתָֽי׃ shimah-tefilati ׀ Adonai veshavati ׀ haazinah el-dimeati al-techerash ki ger anokhi imakhe toshav kekhal-avotayHear my prayer, O HaShem, and give ear unto my cry; keep not silence at my tears; for I am a stranger with Thee, a sojourner, as all my fathers were. יד14 הָשַׁע מִמֶּנִּי וְאַבְלִיגָה בְּטֶרֶם אֵלֵךְ וְאֵינֶֽנִּי׃ hasha mimeni veavligah beterem elekh veeineniLook away from me, that I may take comfort, before I go hence, and be no more.'

Selah י10 אַף־זָנַחְתָּ וַתַּכְלִימֵנוּ וְלֹא־תֵצֵא בְּצִבְאוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ af-zanachta vatakhelimenu velo-tetze betzivoteinuYet Thou hast cast off, and brought us to confusion; and goest not forth with our hosts. יא11 תְּשִׁיבֵנוּ אָחוֹר מִנִּי־צָר וּמְשַׂנְאֵינוּ שָׁסוּ לָֽמוֹ׃ teshivenu achor mini-tzar umsaneinu shasu lamoThou makest us to turn back from the adversary; and they that hate us spoil at their will. יב12 תִּתְּנֵנוּ כְּצֹאן מַאֲכָל וּבַגּוֹיִם זֵרִיתָֽנוּ׃ titenenu ketzon maakhal uvagoyim zeritanuThou hast given us like sheep to be eaten; and hast scattered us among the nations. יג13 תִּמְכֹּֽר־עַמְּךָ בְלֹא־הוֹן וְלֹא־רִבִּיתָ בִּמְחִירֵיהֶֽם׃ timekor-amkha velo-hon velo-ribita bimechireihemThou sellest Thy people for small gain, and hast not set their prices high. יד14 תְּשִׂימֵנוּ חֶרְפָּה לִשְׁכֵנֵינוּ לַעַג וָקֶלֶס לִסְבִיבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ tesimenu cherpah lishkheneinu laag vakeles lisvivoteinuThou makest us a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. טו15 תְּשִׂימֵנוּ מָשָׁל בַּגּוֹיִם מְנֽוֹד־רֹאשׁ בַּל־אֻמִּֽים׃ tesimenu mashal bagoyim menod-rosh bal-umimThou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples. טז16 כָּל־הַיּוֹם כְּלִמָּתִי נֶגְדִּי וּבֹשֶׁת פָּנַי כִּסָּֽתְנִי׃ kal-hayom kelimati negdi uvoshet panay kisateniAll the day is my confusion before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, יז17 מִקּוֹל מְחָרֵף וּמְגַדֵּף מִפְּנֵי אוֹיֵב וּמִתְנַקֵּֽם׃ mikol mecharef umgadef mipnei oyev umitnakemFor the voice of him that taunteth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the revengeful. יח18 כָּל־זֹאת בָּאַתְנוּ וְלֹא שְׁכַחֲנוּךָ וְלֹֽא־שִׁקַּרְנוּ בִּבְרִיתֶֽךָ׃ kal-zot baatnu velo shekhachanukha velo-shikarenu biveritekhaAll this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten Thee, neither have we been false to Thy covenant. יט19 לֹא־נָסוֹג אָחוֹר לִבֵּנוּ וַתֵּט אֲשֻׁרֵינוּ מִנִּי אָרְחֶֽךָ׃ lo-nasog achor libenu vatet ashureinu mini archekhaOur heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Thy path; כ20 כִּי דִכִּיתָנוּ בִּמְקוֹם תַּנִּים וַתְּכַס עָלֵינוּ בְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃ ki dikitanu bimekom tanim vatkhas aleinu vetzalmavetThough Thou hast crushed us into a place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death. כא21 אִם־שָׁכַחְנוּ שֵׁם אֱלֹהֵינוּ וַנִּפְרֹשׂ כַּפֵּינוּ לְאֵל זָֽר׃ im-shakhachnu shem eloheinu vaniferos kapeinu leel zarIf we had forgotten the name of our G-d, or spread forth our hands to a strange god; כב22 הֲלֹא אֱלֹהִים יַֽחֲקָר־זֹאת כִּֽי־הוּא יֹדֵעַ תַּעֲלֻמוֹת לֵֽב׃ halo Elohim yachakar-zot ki-hu yodea taalumot levWould not G-d search this out? Selah ז7 שִׁמְעָה עַמִּי ׀ וַאֲדַבֵּרָה יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָעִידָה בָּךְ אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהֶיךָ אָנֹֽכִי׃ shimah ami ׀ vaadaberah yisrael veaidah bakhe Elohim eloheikha anokhi'Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: G-d, thy G-d, am I. ח8 לֹא עַל־זְבָחֶיךָ אוֹכִיחֶךָ וְעוֹלֹתֶיךָ לְנֶגְדִּי תָמִֽיד׃ lo al-zevacheikha okhichekha veoloteikha lenegdi tamidI will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices; and thy burnt-offerings are continually before Me. ט9 לֹא־אֶקַּח מִבֵּיתְךָ פָר מִמִּכְלְאֹתֶיךָ עַתּוּדִֽים׃ lo-ekach mibeitkha far mimikheloteikha atudimI will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he-goats out of thy folds. י10 כִּי־לִי כָל־חַיְתוֹ־יָעַר בְּהֵמוֹת בְּהַרְרֵי־אָֽלֶף׃ ki-li khal-chayto-yaar behemot beharrei-alefFor every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. יא11 יָדַעְתִּי כָּל־עוֹף הָרִים וְזִיז שָׂדַי עִמָּדִֽי׃ yadati kal-of harim veziz saday imadiI know all the fowls of the mountains; and the wild beasts of the field are Mine. יב12 אִם־אֶרְעַב לֹא־אֹמַר לָךְ כִּי־לִי תֵבֵל וּמְלֹאָֽהּ׃ im-erav lo-omar lakh ki-li tevel umloahIf I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is Mine, and the fulness thereof. יג13 הַֽאוֹכַל בְּשַׂר אַבִּירִים וְדַם עַתּוּדִים אֶשְׁתֶּֽה׃ haokhal besar abirim vedam atudim eshtehDo I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? יד14 זְבַח לֵאלֹהִים תּוֹדָה וְשַׁלֵּם לְעֶלְיוֹן נְדָרֶֽיךָ׃ zevach lelohim todah veshalem leelyon nedareikhaOffer unto G-d the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High; טו15 וּקְרָאֵנִי בְּיוֹם צָרָה אֲחַלֶּצְךָ וּֽתְכַבְּדֵֽנִי׃ ukraeni beyom tzarah achaletzekha utkhabdeniAnd call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt honour Me.' טז16 וְלָרָשָׁע ׀ אָמַר אֱלֹהִים מַה־לְּךָ לְסַפֵּר חֻקָּי וַתִּשָּׂא בְרִיתִי עֲלֵי־פִֽיךָ׃ velarasha ׀ amar Elohim mah-lekha lesaper chukay vatisa veriti alei-fikhaBut unto the wicked G-d saith: 'What hast thou to do to declare My statutes, and that thou hast taken My covenant in thy mouth? יז17 וְאַתָּה שָׂנֵאתָ מוּסָר וַתַּשְׁלֵךְ דְּבָרַי אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃ veatah saneta musar vatashelekh devaray achareikhaSeeing thou hatest instruction, and castest My words behind thee. יח18 אִם־רָאִיתָ גַנָּב וַתִּרֶץ עִמּוֹ וְעִם מְנָאֲפִים חֶלְקֶֽךָ׃ im-raita ganav vatiretz imo veim menaafim chelkekhaWhen thou sawest a thief, thou hadst company with him, and with adulterers was thy portion. יט19 פִּיךָ שָׁלַחְתָּ בְרָעָה וּלְשׁוֹנְךָ תַּצְמִיד מִרְמָֽה׃ pikha shalachta veraah ulshonkha tatzemid mirmahThou hast let loose thy mouth for evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. כ20 תֵּשֵׁב בְּאָחִיךָ תְדַבֵּר בְּבֶֽן־אִמְּךָ תִּתֶּן־דֹּֽפִי׃ teshev beachikha tedaber beven-imkha titen-dofiThou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son. כא21 אֵלֶּה עָשִׂיתָ ׀ וְֽהֶחֱרַשְׁתִּי דִּמִּיתָ הֱֽיוֹת־אֶֽהְיֶה כָמוֹךָ אוֹכִיחֲךָ וְאֶֽעֶרְכָה לְעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ eleh asita ׀ vehecherashti dimita heyot-ehyeh khamokha okhichakha veerkhah leeineikhaThese things hast thou done, and should I have kept silence? Thou hadst thought that I was altogether such a one as thyself; but I will reprove thee, and set the cause before thine eyes. כב22 בִּֽינוּ־נָא זֹאת שֹׁכְחֵי אֱלוֹהַּ פֶּן־אֶטְרֹף וְאֵין מַצִּֽיל׃ binu-na zot shokhchei eloha pen-etrof veein matzilNow consider this, ye that forget G-d, lest I tear in pieces, and there be none to deliver. כג23 זֹבֵחַ תּוֹדָה יְֽכַבְּדָנְנִי וְשָׂם דֶּרֶךְ אַרְאֶנּוּ בְּיֵשַׁע אֱלֹהִֽים׃ zovecha todah yekhabdanni vesam derekh arenu beyesha elohimWhoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving honoureth Me; and to him that ordereth his way aright will I show the salvation of G-d.'
