א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת רַבַּת צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרַי יֹֽאמַר־נָא יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ shir hamaalot rabat tzeraruni minuray yomar-na yisraelA Song of Ascents. 'Much have they afflicted me from my youth up', let Israel now say; ב2 רַבַּת צְרָרוּנִי מִנְּעוּרָי גַּם לֹא־יָכְלוּ לִֽי׃ rabat tzeraruni minuray gam lo-yakhlu li'Much have they afflicted me from my youth up; but they have not prevailed against me. ג3 עַל־גַּבִּי חָרְשׁוּ חֹרְשִׁים הֶאֱרִיכוּ למענותם׃ al-gabi charshu chorshim heerikhu lmnvtmThe plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows. ד4 יְיָ צַדִּיק קִצֵּץ עֲבוֹת רְשָׁעִֽים׃ Adonai tzadik kitzetz avot reshaimHaShem is righteous; He hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.' ה5 יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר כֹּל שֹׂנְאֵי צִיּֽוֹן׃ yevoshu veyisogu achor kol sonei tziyonLet them be ashamed and turned backward, all they that hate Zion. ו6 יִהְיוּ כַּחֲצִיר גַּגּוֹת שֶׁקַּדְמַת שָׁלַף יָבֵֽשׁ׃ yihyu kachatzir gagot shekademat shalaf yaveshLet them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it springeth up; ז7 שֶׁלֹּא מִלֵּא כַפּוֹ קוֹצֵר וְחִצְנוֹ מְעַמֵּֽר׃ shelo mile khapo kotzer vechitzno meamerWherewith the reaper filleth not his hand, nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom. ח8 וְלֹא אָֽמְרוּ ׀ הָעֹבְרִים בִּרְכַּֽת־יְיָ אֲלֵיכֶם בֵּרַכְנוּ אֶתְכֶם בְּשֵׁם יְהוָֽה׃ velo amru ׀ haovrim birekat-Adonai aleikhem berakhnu etkhem beshem AdonaiNeither do they that go by say: 'The blessing of HaShem be upon you; we bless you in the name of HaShem.'
