א1 שִׁיר הַֽמַּעֲלוֹת לְדָוִד שָׂמַחְתִּי בְּאֹמְרִים לִי בֵּית יְיָ נֵלֵֽךְ׃ shir hamaalot ledavid samachti beomrim li beit Adonai nelekhA Song of Ascents; of David. I rejoiced when they said unto me: 'Let us go unto the house of HaShem.' ב2 עֹמְדוֹת הָיוּ רַגְלֵינוּ בִּשְׁעָרַיִךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ omdot hayu ragleinu bishearayikh yerushalaimOur feet are standing within thy gates, O Jerusalem; ג3 יְרוּשָׁלִַם הַבְּנוּיָה כְּעִיר שֶׁחֻבְּרָה־לָּהּ יַחְדָּֽו׃ yerushalaim habnuyah keir shechubrah-lah yachdavJerusalem, that art builded as a city that is compact together; ד4 שֶׁשָּׁם עָלוּ שְׁבָטִים שִׁבְטֵי־יָהּ עֵדוּת לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְהֹדוֹת לְשֵׁם יְהוָֽה׃ shesham alu shevatim shivtei-yah edut leyisrael lehodot leshem AdonaiWhither the tribes went up, even the tribes of HaShem, as a testimony unto Israel, to give thanks unto the name of HaShem. ה5 כִּי שָׁמָּה ׀ יָשְׁבוּ כִסְאוֹת לְמִשְׁפָּט כִּסְאוֹת לְבֵית דָּוִֽיד׃ ki shamah ׀ yashvu khisot lemishpat kiseot leveit davidFor there were set thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. ו6 שַׁאֲלוּ שְׁלוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָם יִשְׁלָיוּ אֹהֲבָֽיִךְ׃ shaalu shelom yerushalaim yishlayu ohavayikhPray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee. ז7 יְהִֽי־שָׁלוֹם בְּחֵילֵךְ שַׁלְוָה בְּאַרְמְנוֹתָֽיִךְ׃ yehi-shalom becheilekh shalvah bearmnotayikhPeace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. ח8 לְמַעַן אַחַי וְרֵעָי אֲדַבְּרָה־נָּא שָׁלוֹם בָּֽךְ׃ lemaan achay vereay adabrah-na shalom bakheFor my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say: 'Peace be within thee.' ט9 לְמַעַן בֵּית־יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֲבַקְשָׁה טוֹב לָֽךְ׃ lemaan beit-Adonai eloheinu avakshah tov lakhFor the sake of the house of HaShem our G-d I will seek thy good.
