א1 מִזְמוֹר לְאָסָף אַךְ טוֹב לְיִשְׂרָאֵל אֱלֹהִים לְבָרֵי לֵבָֽב׃ mizmor leasaf akh tov leyisrael Elohim levarei levavA Psalm of Asaph. Surely G-d is good to Israel, even to such as are pure in heart. ב2 וַאֲנִי כִּמְעַט נטוי רַגְלָי כְּאַיִן שפכה אֲשֻׁרָֽי׃ vaani kimeat ntvy raglay keayin shfkhh ashurayBut as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. ג3 כִּֽי־קִנֵּאתִי בַּֽהוֹלְלִים שְׁלוֹם רְשָׁעִים אֶרְאֶֽה׃ ki-kineti bahollim shelom reshaim erehFor I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. ד4 כִּי אֵין חַרְצֻבּוֹת לְמוֹתָם וּבָרִיא אוּלָֽם׃ ki ein chartzubot lemotam uvari ulamFor there are no pangs at their death, and their body is sound. ה5 בַּעֲמַל אֱנוֹשׁ אֵינֵמוֹ וְעִם־אָדָם לֹא יְנֻגָּֽעוּ׃ baamal enosh einemo veim-adam lo yenugauIn the trouble of man they are not; neither are they plagued like men. ו6 לָכֵן עֲנָקַתְמוֹ גַאֲוָה יַעֲטָף־שִׁית חָמָס לָֽמוֹ׃ lakhen anakatmo gaavah yaataf-shit chamas lamoTherefore pride is as a chain about their neck; violence covereth them as a garment. ז7 יָצָא מֵחֵלֶב עֵינֵמוֹ עָבְרוּ מַשְׂכִּיּוֹת לֵבָֽב׃ yatza mechelev einemo avru maskiyot levavTheir eyes stand forth from fatness; they are gone beyond the imaginations of their heart. ח8 יָמִיקוּ ׀ וִידַבְּרוּ בְרָע עֹשֶׁק מִמָּרוֹם יְדַבֵּֽרוּ׃ yamiku ׀ vidabru vera oshek mimarom yedaberuThey scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression; they speak as if there were none on high. ט9 שַׁתּוּ בַשָּׁמַיִם פִּיהֶם וּלְשׁוֹנָם תִּֽהֲלַךְ בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ shatu vashamayim pihem ulshonam tihalakh baaretzThey have set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. י10 לָכֵן ׀ ישיב עַמּוֹ הֲלֹם וּמֵי מָלֵא יִמָּצוּ לָֽמוֹ׃ lakhen ׀ yshyv amo halom umei male yimatzu lamoTherefore His people return hither; and waters of fullness are drained out by them. יא11 וְֽאָמְרוּ אֵיכָה יָדַֽע־אֵל וְיֵשׁ דֵּעָה בְעֶלְיֽוֹן׃ veamru eikhah yada-el veyesh deah veelyonAnd they say: 'How doth G-d know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?' יב12 הִנֵּה־אֵלֶּה רְשָׁעִים וְשַׁלְוֵי עוֹלָם הִשְׂגּוּ־חָֽיִל׃ hineh-eleh reshaim veshalvei olam hisgu-chayilBehold, such are the wicked; and they that are always at ease increase riches. יג13 אַךְ־רִיק זִכִּיתִי לְבָבִי וָאֶרְחַץ בְּנִקָּיוֹן כַּפָּֽי׃ akh-rik zikiti levavi vaerchatz benikayon kapaySurely in vain have I cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocency; יד14 וָאֱהִי נָגוּעַ כָּל־הַיּוֹם וְתוֹכַחְתִּי לַבְּקָרִֽים׃ vaehi nagua kal-hayom vetokhachti labkarimFor all the day have I been plagued, and my chastisement came every morning. טו15 אִם־אָמַרְתִּי אֲסַפְּרָה כְמוֹ הִנֵּה דוֹר בָּנֶיךָ בָגָֽדְתִּי׃ im-amarti asaprah khemo hineh dor baneikha vagadtiIf I had said: 'I will speak thus', behold, I had been faithless to the generation of Thy children. טז16 וָֽאֲחַשְּׁבָה לָדַעַת זֹאת עָמָל היא בְעֵינָֽי׃ vaachashvah ladaat zot amal hy veeinayAnd when I pondered how I might know this, it was wearisome in mine eyes; יז17 עַד־אָבוֹא אֶל־מִקְדְּשֵׁי־אֵל אָבִינָה לְאַחֲרִיתָֽם׃ ad-avo el-mikdshei-el avinah leacharitamUntil I entered into the sanctuary of G-d, and considered their end. יח18 אַךְ בַּחֲלָקוֹת תָּשִׁית לָמוֹ הִפַּלְתָּם לְמַשּׁוּאֽוֹת׃ akh bachalakot tashit lamo hipaletam lemashuotSurely Thou settest them in slippery places; Thou hurlest them down to utter ruin. יט19 אֵיךְ הָיוּ לְשַׁמָּה כְרָגַע סָפוּ תַמּוּ מִן־בַּלָּהֽוֹת׃ eikh hayu leshamah kheraga safu tamu min-balahotHow are they become a desolation in a moment! They are wholly consumed by terrors. כ20 כַּחֲלוֹם מֵהָקִיץ אֲדֹנָי בָּעִיר ׀ צַלְמָם תִּבְזֶֽה׃ kachalom mehakitz Adonai bair ׀ tzalmam tivezehAs a dream when one awaketh, so, O L-rd, when Thou arousest Thyself, Thou wilt despise their semblance. כא21 כִּי יִתְחַמֵּץ לְבָבִי וְכִלְיוֹתַי אֶשְׁתּוֹנָֽן׃ ki yitchametz levavi vekhilyotay eshtonanFor my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins. כב22 וַאֲנִי־בַעַר וְלֹא אֵדָע בְּהֵמוֹת הָיִיתִי עִמָּֽךְ׃ vaani-vaar velo eda behemot hayiti imakheBut I was brutish, and ignorant; I was as a beast before Thee. כג23 וַאֲנִי תָמִיד עִמָּךְ אָחַזְתָּ בְּיַד־יְמִינִֽי׃ vaani tamid imakhe achazta beyad-yeminiNevertheless I am continually with Thee; Thou holdest my right hand. כד24 בַּעֲצָתְךָ תַנְחֵנִי וְאַחַר כָּבוֹד תִּקָּחֵֽנִי׃ baatzatkha tancheni veachar kavod tikacheniThou wilt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me with glory. כה25 מִי־לִי בַשָּׁמָיִם וְעִמְּךָ לֹא־חָפַצְתִּי בָאָֽרֶץ׃ mi-li vashamayim veimkha lo-chafatzti vaaretzWhom have I in heaven but Thee? And beside Thee I desire none upon earth. כו26 כָּלָה שְׁאֵרִי וּלְבָבִי צוּר־לְבָבִי וְחֶלְקִי אֱלֹהִים לְעוֹלָֽם׃ kalah sheeri ulvavi tzur-levavi vechelki Elohim leolamMy flesh and my heart faileth; but G-d is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever. כז27 כִּֽי־הִנֵּה רְחֵקֶיךָ יֹאבֵדוּ הִצְמַתָּה כָּל־זוֹנֶה מִמֶּֽךָּ׃ ki-hineh rechekeikha yovedu hitzmatah kal-zoneh mimekaFor, lo, they that go far from Thee shall perish; Thou dost destroy all them that go astray from Thee. כח28 וַאֲנִי ׀ קִֽרֲבַת אֱלֹהִים לִי־טוֹב שַׁתִּי ׀ בַּאדֹנָי יְהֹוִה מַחְסִי לְסַפֵּר כָּל־מַלְאֲכוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ vaani ׀ kiravat Elohim li-tov shati ׀ badonay Adonai machsi lesaper kal-malakhoteikhaBut as for me, the nearness of G-d is my good; I have made the L-rd GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all Thy works.
